I watched your old fashion video because of your mashed potatoes video. This video made me subscribe and now headed to the store to buy bourbon & cherries.
After spending the day playing with my grand kids, I’m sitting on my front patio, watching the Spring sun set behind the misty San Gabriels, drinking one of these… Peak moment.
Since I'm finally 21, I'm very thankful for your alcohol recipes since my family usually only drinks shots of tequila or tequila mixed with grapefruit soda. Now I have other beverages to look forward to hehe
Just subscribed.Great video ! I was raised by my Irish aunt on a Manhattan made with Crown Royal or other Canadian whiskey. My favoritedrink now is Perfect Manhattan made with good Rye Whiskey !
Whooo a mixologist. I’m impressed. Manhattans are dangerous. I was hungover for TWO DAYS! I’m used to straight up Grey Goose Martinis 🍸 Yes we deserve it. Cheers
I enjoyed watching your video. You're so funny :). I ordered my very first Manhattan in D.C. in Du Jour restaurant at the Wharf and just fell in love; maybe because I love a good whiskey/bourbon drink.....and those luxardo cherries are the best!!
When I'm trying a whisky, I always have it neat because a good whisky doesn't need other ingredients to speak for it. But once I've found a good whisky you can be damn sure I use it to make a Manhattan. My current bottle is a Basil Hayden Toasted, I think it works perfectly here and it's not exorbitantly priced
“Do you have that friend that drinks a martini, but they load it up with olives like it’s their dinner? Sad.” Bahhh haha! John you are savage in all the right ways!!!
I love your cocktail videos. Now I’m the designated unofficial “mixologist” in the family when we have get togethers. I don’t mind. But now I think it’s time to start putting out a tip jar lol
Great video. I like the Luxardos but I’ve found that the Traverse City Whisky Company ones. The Traverse ones seem to be less macerated in the jar to me
Made my first last night, waited until the nick and nora glasses came in. I must have made mine wrong though as I put 2oz rye (whistle pig small batch) but only .5oz sweet vermouth (cochi). Will have to make it again with 1oz of vermouth this time.
I like that you went with the bulleit rye whiskey, that's my fave and it's a good mid level whiskey that's affordable. My favorite cherries to use is Badda Bing Cherries and they're a 1/3 of the price as the Luxardo. They don't have the syrup that the Luxardo cherries do, but they're delicious nonetheless. I'm also a big fan of Cocchi Vermouth di Torino for my Manhattans. I also add 1/2 ounce of Amaro with 3 shakes of orange bitters and that does it for me. Great presentation with not being too serious but entertaining. I'll be trying your rubbing the zest on the rim of my glass trick. I like that extra touch. Great job!
Cool, like your copper bar set and like the look of those drinks. I can't drink most alcoholic beverages..a bit of red wine. I do like a few liqueurs and coconut rum. So a mojito recipe if you have one ..one day.
Thanks dude I lied on a resume and got a bartending gig so I’ve watched all of your cocktail recipe videos and I think I’m ready to bullshit my way through my first shift.
Love your video style! And yes, Luzardo cherries are the ones!!!! Just wish they weren’t so darn expensive! If you happen to know why they’re so pricey at the grocery store, please LMK
Sir, I love your style! You present your videos w/ a lot of style, class, and humor! Quick question: What is the difference between whiskey and rye whiskey? I’m attempting to make the perfect Old Fashioned. I greatly appreciate your time and attention! John
Whiskey is the overall category and Rye whiskey is a subtype made with at least 51% of rye grain (Bourbon whiskey is made with at least 51% corn and tends to be sweeter, whereas Irish and Scotch whiskies are made predominantly with barley)
Excellent. Ex-cept.... you did not chill your glass. Now you have to buy some Averna and try the Black Manhattan...but don't forget to chill your glass.
Great video, thanks. And thank you for explaining cherries. I feel like a moron after seeing both and buying the red. Its what I've always received when ordering the Manhattan.
Now I have to go on the lookout for those cherries. Have some Woodford Reserve Bourbon Cherries that I do enjoy, but curious about these Luxardo's now.
0:35 - That's how I do my old fasioned, too. Instead of muddling a cherry, orange peel and sugar cube, I opt for some of the syrup from the cherry, rub the orange peel (and leave for garnish) and sweeten with simple syrup. I like the visual clarity and the lack of fruit chunks and gritty bits of undissolved sugar.
Thanks. Is there a difference between Angostura 'aromatic' bitters and just Angostura bitters? I know of Angostura but it was the aromatic that threw me x
Its 5 o'clock somewhere😂😂
Lol
God bless America
Rip Jimmy
I like how you went through the presentation slowly and then did the quick summary again. Tell them and then tell them what you told them. Good job.
I love how he just throws shit around lol
I watched your old fashion video because of your mashed potatoes video. This video made me subscribe and now headed to the store to buy bourbon & cherries.
I must say, I am enjoying these mixology classes.
Love the nonchalant tossing of an item followed by the the breaking glass sound. Makes me laugh 😃
Like your sense of humor 🤣
Love the frequent uploads 😍👏🏻
Your video is one of the best ones that I've seen yet for instructions.I am a bartender and it helps quite a bit with preparing the cocktails
Although I don't drink...but strangely I love watching these cocktail videos as they are so much fun🍷🍸🍹 Cheers John!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves Luxardo. Expensive but absolutely worth it.
You bake, you cook, you do cake painting.. Now cocktails!!! I love it!!!!!
you didn't ask: Are you married? I would take you! LOL-(about me, I am too old and too married for the last 30++ years)
I don't drink alcohol but I always enjoy your videos no matter the topic. If I drank alcohol I'm sure I'd probably enjoy it.
You should treat yourself. get liquored up
I’m glad you’re bringing classic drinks back.🍸🥃
Eduardo Ramirez Jr . Absolutely love when he makes classic drinks!!! 🥰
My favorite cocktail! Love Bulleit Rye. Way to go. I usually drop the orange peel in my drink. Thanks for the tip on the cherries.
Perfect way to start the day! (Watching your videos I mean...)
I love how you throw things around your kitchen 😂❤ I do it to 🤣
Loved how he went through the recipe again at the end. Brilliant!
I know this video is old, but I just had my first tonight and OMG I've been missing out. I'm 39 years old and have always preferred whiskey. So good!
My sweetie has been trying to order this drink a few times and the bartenders didn’t know how to make it. So I will!
Thank you so much for this!
Love your smile and demeanor as much as I love your cocktails...very smooth !!
After spending the day playing with my grand kids, I’m sitting on my front patio, watching the Spring sun set behind the misty San Gabriels, drinking one of these… Peak moment.
I tried your Old Fashioned recipe tonight. I'll be trying this Manhattan this weekend. Awesome!
Going to have to do the same.
Since I'm finally 21, I'm very thankful for your alcohol recipes since my family usually only drinks shots of tequila or tequila mixed with grapefruit soda. Now I have other beverages to look forward to hehe
Perfect for a Friday evening - thank you so much and have yourself a wonderful weekend!

There's nothing like cherries on the top. Love it!
Woohoo more alcohol recipes! Your inner party animal is trying to come out lol
Whooo a mixologist. I’m impressed. Manhattans are dangerous. I was hungover for TWO DAYS! I’m used to straight up Grey Goose Martinis 🍸 Yes we deserve it. Cheers

I tried the cosmopolitan today it was so good
Will try this or the spicy margarita next time
Manhattan is one of my favorites
Love the way you throw the ice away! like no big deal😂
That cloudy ice, though. Make yourself some good ice - it's such an important part of a chilled cocktail!
Just discovered your channel. Love it! Your humor and delicious recipes are a fantastic combo! Your hubby is very lucky!
Thanks for sharing!
My favorite cocktail! With CR, thank you very much.
I enjoyed watching your video. You're so funny :). I ordered my very first Manhattan in D.C. in Du Jour restaurant at the Wharf and just fell in love; maybe because I love a good whiskey/bourbon drink.....and those luxardo cherries are the best!!
No I like the martini with Olives. I've never trying these cherries but I can't wait thanks
When I'm trying a whisky, I always have it neat because a good whisky doesn't need other ingredients to speak for it. That Bulleit, which I tried for the 1st time is the best Rye I have ever tasted.
Love a good manhattan a perfect classic cocktail !
I want that Manhattan so bad. That looks amazing.
“Do you have that friend that drinks a martini, but they load it up with olives like it’s their dinner? Sad.”
Bahhh haha! John you are savage in all the right ways!!!
someone, including op, doesn't know olives. but k keep going
thank you- loving your videos!
You make it exactly the same way as me, luxardo cherries definitely work a treat, I haven't used any others to be honest, Cheers 🍻
I love your cocktail videos. Now I’m the designated unofficial “mixologist” in the family when we have get togethers. I don’t mind. But now I think it’s time to start putting out a tip jar lol
Agree on the Luxardo cherries. Must have!
Good pour, thanks for the tips
He is so funny omg. When he kicked that icecube away and acted like it didn't happen I was dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video. I like the Luxardos but I’ve found that the Traverse City Whisky Company ones. The Traverse ones seem to be less macerated in the jar to me
I loved the cocktail series
I love how the ice poped out and your like really fine be gone ice and you move it with your hand.😆
TY king! Killed it
i prefer my manhattans with Rye simply because of the spice it gives to the cocktail thats truly needed in my opinion of course.
I use lemon instead of orange peel. pure preference.
Made my first last night, waited until the nick and nora glasses came in. I must have made mine wrong though as I put 2oz rye (whistle pig small batch) but only .5oz sweet vermouth (cochi).
Will have to make it again with 1oz of vermouth this time.
Where did you buy your coupe cocktail glasses? I love the way you make cocktails 🍸😊
Traverse City Whiskey Co., makes a great cocktail cherry. Made in Michigan.
wow extremely well done!
I like that you went with the bulleit rye whiskey, that's my fave and it's a good mid level whiskey that's affordable. Old fashioned is my favourite drink . I only drink on holidays so roll on next week
Caution! Beware of unexplainable flying ice cubes. John, your inner Sasha Fierce is starting to emerge. Another wonderful cocktail video.
"You deserve it" I really do😢lol I tell myself this way too often😅💜
The cherries are a MUST HAVE!
Good job! Very helpful!
My favorite drink!
I love your drink videos!
A perfect Manhattan with some freshly baked cheese straws. Heaven on earth.
Love your video style! And yes, Luzardo cherries are the ones!!!!
Just wish they weren’t so darn expensive! If you happen to know why they’re so pricey at the grocery store, please LMK

You so fancy lol but seriously, I loved this!!! Nice cocktail! Those cherries better be amazing for $20/jar lol
Loveeeee those cherries!
Excellent. Ex-cept.... you did not chill your glass. Now you have to buy some Averna and try the Black Manhattan...but don't forget to chill your glass.
Could I possibly love your videos more???
Great video, thanks. And thank you for explaining cherries. I feel like a moron after seeing both and buying the red. Its what I've always received when ordering the Manhattan.
Thank you 😊
Slice of cake and a Manhattan please! 😍
Not to be snobby, but I think a coupe glass is prounounced /koop/ because there no é like coupé.....
Would u put a lemon rind twist or a mint leaf speared along with the luxardo cherries on top ??? ...or orange twist ..?
That's a cool idea for a garnish, the lemon would work for a brighter citrus element and the mint will pair with the herbal nature of the vermouth!
Can you make chantilly berry cake!? Pleaaaaase 😁💕
Sitting at a window bar along broadway in NYC drinking Manhattans is the hight of entertainment.
192k! I’ll drink to that! 🍸
Just made my first one. Omg.. it's freaking delicious 😂 A pretty cheap drink to make as well all things considered.
Now I have to go on the lookout for those cherries. Have some Woodford Reserve Bourbon Cherries that I do enjoy, but curious about these Luxardo's now.
Try Amarena cherries, they're life changing!
I’m that friend that loves the olives!!!!
Luxardo. One cherry to rule them all.
Trader Joe’s has Amarena cherries in the fall, about $6 bucks, fantastic.
0:35 - That's how I do my old fasioned, too. Just came from watching ur of Old Fashioned . Now i want a Manhattan using bulleit 95 rye or basil hayden .., ..., u devil 👍😎😳
3:45 the cc caption says "happy jazzy music" - it's not - it's happy bossa nova music.
Yes,,lovely but no idea where I would get those bitters from in UK
Loobyloo Tesco, in the alcohol aisle.
Thanks. Is there a difference between Angostura 'aromatic' bitters and just Angostura bitters? I know of Angostura but it was the aromatic that threw me x
Happy Friday! 🍷❤️
😋 looks delicious
Which wristwatch are you rocking?
Looks yummy.
What do you think of the Fabbri Amarena cherries?
Late to this comment but personally think Amarena are superior!
I adore you!
Luxardo cherries are the way to go!!
Nice
