when you started with the russian accent it was like a 'this is my drag character' moment
and when you got emotional and dropped the accent it was like a 'this is the real me' moment. it was so well done.

I literally cried when Katya gave her speech, she's a living example that anxiety can be conquered. How can she not be crowned for that?

I suggested this on tumblr as well. Like, have her say her speech, and then photoshop (or however you video edit :p) a crown on her head in that moment when she gets emotional during the 'why you deserve to be america's next top model' speech.
As much as I love both Katya and Alaska. I think overall, Katya showed the most growth in the season. She wasn't crippled by her own anxieties anymore, she was owning them, and that allowed her charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to shine through with the white hot intensity of a thousand UV light-bulbs. I won't discredit Alaska; she shows plenty of drive, is amazingly talented, and fucking hilarious. But I did notice that each time she lip-synced she always had a prop tucked out of sight that would give a bigger impact to her performance. It wasn't a physical gimmick like all the other girls (i.e. Detox's jaw thing, Roxy's hairography, and Katya's flexibility) its a prop. Any actors performance is better with a prop, but it takes true talent to be creative enough to deliver a performance without one. I was outraged when Alaska won the Cherry Bomb lip-sync because without her American flag, her performance was outshone by Katya, who truly embodied the rock bitch that is Joan Jett. Which proved her performance was banking on campy patriotism, that shit works in the political polls but I didn't think it would in Drag Race. All in all I'm happy for Alaska she truly has tried harder than most. I just don't think she has grown and overcome as much as Katya.
No, the flag was pulled from under her wig. Her wig didn't fall off then and during the rest of the performance, that is what was impressive, less so the flag. If she had pulled it out of her pants, for example, it would have been tacky.
whether the flag was pulled out from a wig, pants, her silly conservative little heels, or even if she made it appear out of thin air it doesn't change that its a prop tho. And of course her wig wouldn't have fallen off this is Allstars! She's a professional, hun, thats why she won.
everyone's got a gimmick, like you've said. I don't understand why people knock Alaska for using her style of gimmick. She knows her strengths and weaknesses, and instead of coasting off of her strengths to outshine her weaknesses, she actively tries to step her pussy up in a way that is realistic and achievable for her. idk about other people, butI really appreciate that.

I wish I had a Katya when I was an angsty teen with no relatable reference of what intelligent anxiety looks like. I love her so much for that, and am genuinely disappointed that she wasn't crowned. Yes, Alaska is a strong drag queen, but Katya- to me- is of and for the people in such an authentic and accessible way, while still being cerebral and humorous in an avant-garde/"experimental" style. I can't remember disagreeing with a Ru decision so strongly in the past, even in season 7. :( Oh, well. Still an entertaining season, and I'll be watching for more from Katya.
Hearing Ru say that Katya has so much potential during the deliberations was very heart-warming imo. Katya, by far, as improved far more than the other three since their respective seasons, and the fact that there's still room for great amounts evolution I think says a lot. I'm happy the judges recognized that, and it makes a lot more sense now why they chose Alaska. Sure, she slayed the competition, but she also has firmly established herself as the type of drag queen she is. This was her destiny. But it's not over for Katya yet. I'm looking forward to see how much more incredible she can become.

Izzy They literally ask every year for people to say who their favorite is - that doesn't mean that person wins. It doesn't work that way. They asked us to vote for who we wanted to be a guest judge and Jeffree Star blew everyone else out of the water and she still hasn't been on the damn show, and that pisses me off because I live for Jeffree, but I don't spend every minute complaining about it. Be happy that we got an EPIC All Stars. Especially compared to last time.

Ugh where do I even begin with the post-depression proud post.. I was waiting for this all morning. So much to say so I'm just going to stop! I will say I'm sad that Katya didn't win, she made a valid point of something I've been saying all along, she came in to all stars literally 2-3 months after her season aired while most of the girls had years to build themselves, yet was one of the biggest threats to them all and they were definitely aware. I think had there been a larger gap between filming as if they were to film now she honestly could have won. I think up until adore, Katya has definitely snatched the crown of "fan favorite" and easily a queen of the people. I felt like a proud mama watching her blossom throughout this all stars segment and since her season, her speech tore my heart and stitched it right back up with butterflies inside. she's the center of my heart and soul. Alaska was just as deserving but I think the main issue myself and others have was that it was a predictable and orchestrated win. Everyone knew this was built up for Alaska to win and although she did exceptionally well there were numerous times other queens were more deserving of the win. But the fans shouldn't be asked for their votes and opinions just to still have a winner picked by Ru and production anyway. Nonetheless I can't wait to see more of Katya and I hope she finally comes through with the one WOMAN SHOW that we've all been waiting so patiently for. Love you so much!

Fucking TYRA SANCHEZ won season 2 over Jujubee and Raven. The most likable, fan favorite queen doesn't always win. That's not what the show is about. It's not a popularity contest.
The problem with that comparison is that Raven wasn't likeable on her season, if anything she was viewed as a much bigger bitch than Tyra. It's only now, many years later, that Raven's popularity has far exceeded Tyra's. But with AS2, Katya proved to be both more likeable and a better queen overall than Alaska.
