I love "Country Honk", "Let it Bleed" and, of course, the great "Gimme Shelter". Hell of a way to open an album. "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is a hell of a way to close one.
Hi Jeff!! a great way to put an end to the first decade of the Stones..... Gimme Shelter and M. Clayton's vocals are one key element in the song structure and vibe and to me the albums closes with two amazing and "epic" songs. cheers and be well
This is my second favorite Stones album but it has one of the greatest rock songs of all time, Gimme Shelter. I dare to say that Monkey Man is a very close second. Anyway, I love this album and again Jeff, great coverage!
How do you not love this album? It’s fantastic. You did a great job with this. Your love of the album comes through. Brilliant idea playing “Play With Fire” during Brian’s funeral scenes. I suppose someone will leave a smartass remark about that song not being on Let It Bleed. If so, that person is an idiot. Another nice job of finding some clips that I have never seen before. Damn, I hate for these to end!
Thanks Gary! This was a fun series to do culminating with the best Stones album of the 60’s for me. So far no one has taken me to task for Play With Fire but you know it’s just a matter of time. 😬
Let It Bleed was one of the first Stones albums I heard in full - all we had before was singles. This album is amazing, with never a dull moment, not one filler track. I don't know if it's their very best (cuz we got Exile and Sticky Fingers), but it's certainly way up there.
I like the album, but I like other 60s Stones albums more. I love the title track, You Got The Silver, Monkey Man, and Gimmie Shelter. I used to like You Can Always Get. . .but have heard it so much, I'm tired of it. Unfortunately for me, I got Get Yer Ya Yas Out when it was new, so I listened to the live version of Midnight Rambler hundreds of times before I heard the studio version a couple of years later. I still can't listen to the original version, it sounds so limp in comparison to the kick-ass live version. They even put the live version on Hot Rocks. I really enjoyed your 60s Stones series. . . .please keep going into the 70s!
You will be happy to know I did an entire Stones in the 70’s deep dive series earlier this year. Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/YEkQhXGgWes/v-deo.htmlsi=OAvx98LdXBM6geDP
I just watched this and left a long comment involving Angela Davis and other stuff from the year 1969. I won't try to repeat it all. Riots, society crumbling, war, cities in shambles, etc... Seemed as bad as NOW. We survived then. Will we this time?
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 I think every generation feels like that Jeff. At the beginning of Covid a friend of mine thought it was the end of the world, and he could not imagine a worse time. Their best of the 60s. Sticky F and Exile are better, but... include HTW instead of Country Honk... Equal. Also live versions of Love in Vain and Midnight Rambler on Ladies and Gentlemen (Live in Texas 1972) are pure art
A fine album. My only two complaints are Country Honk, which is pretty lame, and Merry Clayton's vocal on Gimme Shelter. I've always found that super annoying. I prefer the version on the bootlegs without her singing, and Keith taking the lead. Just personal preference. Another fine video, Jeff; thanks for your hard work putting these together.
One of my favorite Stones albums. Can't underestimate the integral contribution of Merry Clayton to Gimme Shelter. It's iconic & so is the album.
This is a brilliant album. Gimme shelter, midnight rambler, monkey man, among others. Just excellent!

3 of my top 5 Stones songs are on this album.
@@jeffwhitchervinyldestinati4486 It's like their "Blonde on Blonde".
This series on the 60s Stones has just been incredible, Jeff. An amazing and professional job. You should be proud.
Thank you! I really had such a blast with this series. ✌️✌️

Thanks Cristian! Gimme Shelter would not be as impactful without Merry Clayton’s stellar vocals. Rare to have two epic anthems on one disc. Cheers!
Rolling Stones one of the top 5 bands of all time, no questions asked. Another great video put together by you Mr. Jeff.
Thank you!

Thank you! Gimme Shelter is a top 10 all time song for me. Talk about the perfect song at the perfect time. Monkey Man is also a masterpiece.

It’s a classic for sure. Like you say, not a single weak track and at least 3 iconic ones.
