Playing squad 44 is always much more visceral for me, I'm not sure why but I always find myself in much more excitable situations

Are there regular times that this server is up? Just asking since I haven't played in awhile, and I see that the average player count of the game is very low. Don't want to install if no one is playing
@@ChristoffRevan there are like 2 us servers that are up and populated most of the time you will probably need to wait in a queue but its worth it and never take more than like 15 min. i would download it iwo jima is gonna be relaesed soon and the game is very fun rn
Man this makes you really appreciate just how good the Rising Storm devs were at flamethrowers. How has it been nearly 3 decades of WW2 FPS games and only 1 out of the whole lot made a flamethrower more than a short range direct fire weapons with the only AOE being in the cone of fire itself? The whole point of the weapon isn't to be an automatic shotgun with a backpack, the point of it is clearing out cover by filling out enclosed spaces like trenches/pillboxes/bunkers/buildings.
Not being able to stick the fuel to things in games always confuses me, it takes like 10 seconds on google to find out they fired flaming gel, that's why they were so good at clearing trenches and I would assume if you could get close to a tank with one it would work as well as a molotov if you got the gel into any engine compartments or into any vents.
us not getting ro3 and rising storm 2 sucking ass is devastating.
flamethrower needs a big buff.
I can't think of a single game that has ever made flamethrowers actually effective, they always seem to neuter them in fear of them being overpowered. IT'S A FLAMETHROWER THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!
@@TheStacato the one in RS1 and RS2 is pretty good, the only issue with it is range
@harveyknguyen that's true, I did forget about the glorious RS series. The spread and "stickiness?" of the flamethrower in those games was awesome but yeah the range was a bit short. I suppose the maps weren't too big so it made sense from a design perspective.

My one takeaway from this test was that Squad needs far more than just 100 players per game for some of its maps.
Yeah this has been a big problem in squad and a way bigger one in Squad44/Post Scriptum. Sometimes it feels like they make the maps WAY too big. Especially when players get divided into vehicles and logistics, there ends up being really small amounts of infantry in the actual fight.
Yeah that´s why the game is not gaining a big enough playerbase. It has the problem that you can run around the whole battlefield for half an hour to just get shot by someone camping in a bush, the maps need to be smaller and you need to have more action based around clear frontlines. Thats why HLL gains so many people over PS / Squad44, its just easier to play, easier to learn and easier to handle with more action happening around you.

@shadow7988 when people play the game properly that isnt really a noticeable thing imo. Its when people dont play objectives and have zero team cohesion that the maps seem too big because people arent concentrated where they should be.

I'm worried with 44 they can't get the flames to bounce the way they did off objects in rising storm and historically. Since it was a jet of liquid it bounced off the pillbox walls to go farther in

The improved American M1A1 infantry flamethrower (which saw use in the Pacific Theater as early as 1944) fired napalm, and had an effective range of around 45 meters. Also, the napalm would burn for a while after deployment, and at insane temperatures ranging from 1,470 to 2,190 °F. So thee DEVS definitely need to A: increase the range, B: increase the "cone of damage", C: MASSIVELY increase suppression of anyone near the cone but out of the napalm, because the heat would be unbearable, and D: have an after effect of suppression from the flames that remain burning for 30 seconds or so. Justa thought...

Major lack of infantry support for the armor, AKA lack of communication.
Armour should be supporting Inf,not other way around.

@@alexsandermc9794 Not at a tactical level you are thinking at strategic level ,As a tank you can drive through bullets and explosions and outrun your infantry,as a tank commander you should be carefully following what you infantry is doing,therefore allowing them to provide support to you,this isnt war thunder where armour is the main character.
End of the day everything on the battlefield is to support the infantry, because boots on the ground is what secures your gains/objectives/invasion.
@@hash_sim4286 what a terrible way of wording shit, the issue here is the tanks are doing what they need, but the infantry isnt following suit. im not arguing that boots on the ground get you your objective, but you my friend absolutely fucking suck at explanations, and your also just completely talking out of your ass about the tactical/strategic level shit, thats ass fluff to make you sound intelligent, and i can tell you it makes you sound like a complete smartass. a tank commanders job is to take out pre specified and freshly identified threats on the battlefield, not follow what the infantry is doing, tanks advance in their own formations and have their own tactics, the infantry was trained to identify said tactics and work around it, furthermore, what we have here is a lack of communication between the infantry and the armor, the infantry should be advancing behind the tanks in this situation. the sherman shouldve spearheaded with the LVTs after laying down a WP blanket for the infantry, thats all the tanks are actually supposed to do for the infantry, smoke/HE targets, and advance.
The flamethrower looks better that the one in HLL

I saw there was a 24 hour play test, but I will rather wait until the release so I can play it whenever I want - if I tried the play test and really liked it, it would suck to have to wait weeks or months to play again...hopefully it will release soon and I will get to play it every day. For now I will stick with normal Squad as I still need to get better...

They answered this question once. It is just a game design decision if i recall correctly. An Squad44 was a different developer before, so they just did things differently.

This latest was so fun I played it almost all day yesterday 😭😭
It'll forever baffle me that squad players would rather sprint at an objective over open ground, when they could easily get inside of the multiple armored vehicles available to them. Then drive to the point in mass and just straight up take it. Works 90% of the time if you do it that way lmfao.

Well, I went to go play Squad 44 last night.. 2 full servers, rest empty.......
HLL has dozens of full servers but I cant get back into it after S44 spoiled me. How do we get more Squad players to move over to S44?
The Pacific update should help with that. I uninstalled a few months ago for hard drive space but I really want to play this map.

Simply put the logi system and pace of play is totally different. I've played Sq44 more than Squad but I can safely say Squad's gameplay loop is far better. I feel like they should just add a one-for-one spawn system from squad into Sq44, won't happen because there was a poorly received update a year ago that was half-assed by the devs and introduced a few squad-esque logi mechanics. Now there is a mass histeria and "squad-scare" in the Sq44 community, anyone who suggests changing the loop is promptly ostracized and told "GO BACK TO SQUAD" or "DON'T TURN OUR GAME INTO SQUAD." Idk... maybe appeal to the community with 20k people playing at once instead of the one with 400?

You’ll have like 2 full servers and the rest will be empty. Last I checked peak players are around 1k rn lol

That is how the tanks in Squad44 are modelled. There is about 12 or so important components as well as the each individual crew. Angle, armour, shell type and distance all comes into effect

EDIT. I don't mean you, personally. I mean the Marine side. Where you are screwing up, as the Marines is, you MASS armor, so as to mass firepower including even AMTRACS, you disperse infantry. But not too much. Just enough to keep a single mortar or arty round from wiping you out. You are fighting your armor like it's infantry. And your flame and willy pete are the best close in bunker clearing weapons. The modelling of the flamer range and effectiveness isn't that good as you pointed out. Preserve your flamers to clear bunkers and strongpoints, not the trenches.

Building stuff in S44 is just too easy so you always got this emplacement slog that gets boring really, really quickly.

Just a suggestion, while it's very cinematic to watch it is very difficult to see individual plays without the outlines on. Especially when watching on a cellphone

Yeah, that's what happens during a contested beach landing. You either get a foothold and expand or you get thrown back into the sea.

I'm saying, glad I'm not the only one who saw that, committing more than 6 men can be a death sentence if facing aa good team or paired with a bad team, everyone wants to be ultra tactical napoleon with cool flanks, but often times winning may simply mean pushing as a team with overwhelming numbers and firepower.
