World Cup 2014 RD3: Final minutes of Greece vs Ivory Coast

I took this video in the Castelao Stadium in Fortaleza, Brazil during the Round 3 clash of the World Cup 2014 between Greece and Ivory Coast amongst 59,095 fans. Video starts around 90th minute with score at 1-1 as I was hoping for some last minute Greece heroics as they needed to win to advance to Round 16 while Ivory Coast were holding on for a draw to advance. One team progresses while the other is eliminated. Very tense as you can imagine. The final minutes will go down in history and talked about for many years. I hope you enjoy it.
PS There's even a hot Brazilian babe at the end of the video to put the icing on the sweet cake :)
PPS I do not claim that I am in breach of FIFA's copyright rules even though FIFA have "claimed" this video. Ah well. That's life.

I'm Greek and live in Australia and if I was at the game in Brazil I would've ran on the pitch and hugged samaras and the rest of the players without caring what the consequences are. We tore down Melbourne here with flares and fireworks to celebrate only imagine what I would've done if I was at the game...
hha love the passion you have for the game too. That's why this game will ALWAYS be the best sport in the world. Like you I would've loved to have celebrated the win with the players but I probably would've still been stuck in Brazil now being whipped all over lol. Maybe next time then..

I love Greece and I'm glad they won...but out of all the unfair stuffs at that tournament...this penalty is top on the list...it was total unfair and I felt like it wouldn't be a penalty was it to be the other way round...

If you watch this link..Sio stretch his leg to prevent Samaras.. For my opinion it was penalty.. Also, it was difficult for the referee to whistle it in the 91st minute if he wasn't sure for his decision..
It was definitely a 100% penalty and I'm not saying it because I support Greece. If you watch any other replay, you can see Sio make contact as Samaras is about to shoot. Sorry Joe

did the ref see that if it takes u a second special replay the ref sure as hell wasnt going to see it he didnt deleberitly go for the ball he clicked his own foot if it was ivory coast way it wouldnt of been a pen i already had to sit down and cry during the 2010 quater final ghana vs uraguay but twice african teams are always cheated
+Blue Troll 6000 there's no conspiracy mate. Looking at it with biased eyes like yours means there is no convincing you. It's a penalty, it will always be a penalty and most people will agree with it. If you don't want to believe it then there is no helping you..

Back when Greece played well. Now we are not good anymore
The golden generation usually only lasts for a short time for the generally weaker football nations and that period was definitely a great time for Greece. We are getting better now but we need to qualify for Euros/WC to lift our spirits again. Maybe we can dream again soon. The memories of 2004 will never die and we were fortunate to have lived through it too

Dimitris Bekiaris I heard that it was snowing in the islands which hasn't happened for over 20 years and that the temperatures were down to around 0c. I suppose now it might be a little warmer but from what I was told it was a colder winter than normal. Anyway glad to hear the weather is better now. enjoy your day

Yeah they were unlucky against Costa Rica but that's football. With the qualifiers, they are always up against tough countries, like Italy lately, so it's been tough to get into the Euros and World Cup. They're playing much better now but they need more players playing in the big 5 leagues. They'll be back again soon. Who do you support?

You're probably right. All these players would be thinking for days and weeks after the match what they could've done differently to not lose. I'm sure they didn't expect Greece to score a winner but that's the beauty of football. Anything can and will happen. Just like every World Cup too. Thanks for your comment 👍 👏

I agree and I'm not being biased. There was definite contact to the foot and from behind, stopping a goal scoring opportunity, so it should also have been a red card too. Not a cheater man, a fair penalty. Look at the replay and you will clearly see it.

+Toumany Sissoko if you have played the game at all you should know that in his situation, it doesn't take much to bring a person down. Even little contact is still contact and little contact can bring a player down without the player faking it. If you are trying to shoot, then you are not expecting someone to hit you from behind and your legs are in the air so a little contact and you are down man. Try it on your friends..
