There's a great aftermarket solution to the shifter as well as some bushings to help with the rear end wheel hop. Lower it and put in some sway bars and it's a blast to drive. Best bang for your buck out there, period.
Great video. My friend has one of these with a borla exhaust. It also has 176,000 miles on it and it has held up great. I love how fast it accelerates and it is just a blast of fun
12 grand for a used cts-v is perfect. I'm not afraid of high milage my 2000 Mazda 626 had 137,000 miles on it. Sadly it caught fire 6 weeks ago do to a lack of maintenance. but if you know how to keep up with maintenance with such high milage car it's going to last years to come. Amazing review Matt
505 enthusiast buy it that's a pretty good deal. I just picked one of these up for 12k with 88k miles on it from a dealership. They had no clue what it was
I have a 2005 (Stealth Gray), purchased in mid-2010, with about 3k left on the CPO warranty (had 97k on it). I was able to get a few things replaced at that time, including the nav system due to button peeling and some scratches on the screen, so mine is perfect. My 05 has about 115k now. See the sail panels in the back on this 04? They are not perfectly attached, which is a common problem. Mine are perfect. The previous owner installed that Magnaflow exhaust which sounds awesome. He also bought a set of the rare FG2 "Nurburgring" shocks which I think really make the car special, dynamically. It's firm but so planted. It was VERY capable when I attacked The Dragon and other western NC roads in 2011 (the set of Michelin PSS tires I bought also was beneficial). 1.26G on the G-meter, btw. This car weighs 3,850 lbs, which isn't too bad. They all come loaded which is handy when shopping for a used one. Let's see, I also installed a set of stainless braided brake hoses, which made the brakes feel amazing. I did new engine mounts (common issue, though mine weren't totally shot). I've had no problems with the rear end but I try to avoid hopping. The diff was replaced at some point in its life, though (but possibly due to whining not failure). I did replace the steering rack because I thought I could get rid of the on-center play. Nope. The new one has play, though feels better overall. I wouldn't have spent the time and money to change it if I knew it wouldn't get rid of the play, though... Overall, I like the car a lot. It sounds great, looks great, drives great. And it'll do 26mpg @ 70mph. On that Dragon trip (and subsequent driving before the next oil change) it consumed ZERO oil. I drove it hard enough to get 9mpg on one tank, so repeated trips to redline. The level didn't budge on the dipstick after 5,500 miles. And I saw oil temps of up to 283°F during my Dragon trip, too. I haven't driven the first gen 300C SRT-8 but I believe this is definitely the better handling car (also smaller and lighter), especially with the FG2 shocks. I think I could still get $15k for it (maybe a touch more) because it is immaculate, if I decided to summon the cash necessary to trade into a V2...
Very much liked your cinematography for the intro and the music, Matt ! Big compliment ! Please keep doing them this way and make them even longer like a minute or so. As far as the Cadillac goes, I have absolutly no experience with any of their products, but a 400hp V8 with a stick looks like huge fun to me :) How about some crazy heel & toe, now ? :)
Hey subaruwrxfan, I am a new subscriber to your youtube page, because I think you give the best, and most honest reviews. Plus it helps that you seem to love doing it, so thanks for your reviews.
Not a bad car at all, especially if you can get a row-your-own gearbox to go with it. I'd definitely take one, especially since they're going down a bit in price too. I'm a BMW driver, though I wouldn't mind a CTS-V if getting into an E39 M5 isn't possible at the moment.
M5 is a really great car - both the 400hp V8 and 500hp V10 versions ran neck-and-neck with the CTS-V, which is also a really great car. Kudos for Caddy for keeping the manual transmission throughout the CTS-V's production. When BMW abandoned the manual tranny for their V10 M5 I was left thinking the company had lost its way. Thankfully, they came to their senses and re-offered a stick. For pure driving enjoyment AND involvement, nothing beats a manual transmission. Personally speaking, I like the CTS-V's boy-racer personality over the more reserved M5, especially if you throw some headers on it which makes for an unbelievable-sounding V8....as if the car jumped the wall and escaped from a track or something. American V8s thus equipped - and Ferrari flat-crank V8s right off the showroom floor - are some of the most musical engines around: they're pure sonic enjoyment. No radios needed...
If you like this, you're going to love the newest V's if you haven't yet driven one. Absolutely amazing to drive. I was lucky enough to drive the newest V sedan and all I can say is wow. I hope you get the chance to drive/review the newest model.
We had a 2005 V for seven years and loved it. It had 80K miles on it when we sold it and it was in fairly good condition. We still have our 2002 40th Anniversary Grand Prix GTP Sedan with 37K miles on it and have a 2014 Malibu 2LTZ. My dad is considering leasing a 2015 ATS 2.0t Performance when they come..
I've been looking, just haven't been able to find one! Hondas are great cars so I don't think it would really disappoint you, but since its heavy and front wheel drive it probably won't be the most sporty but it could still be fun and comfortable.
You do good reviews. Also you sound very sincere on them. something people don't review is reliability or talk about reliability of certain cars. You should maybe research forums and see what cars are giving problems. i.e. Wrx sti evo 135 335 etc. I would love to c someone actually talk about that and see people's comments. Id help hit me up about that.
I grew up with Cadillacs I have always been a fan of Cadillacs loved them then and love them now I rented the first generation Cadillac cts even though it wasn't a v - series and hated the interior and didn't like the way it drove . I said to myself this is the car that replaced the Catera, it looks nicer than the Catera but drives worst, the first hour I got it I took it back and asked for another car. Then when Cadillac out with the 2nd generation CTS I rented that and will say I was pleased with it. I work in the medical field and the Doctor I work for has the 1st generation CTS and it looks so dated now plus he never clean it my impala looks a lot better then his car. But the new 2015 CTS is sharp!
Excellent video very well explained love the Cadillac cars i have 2009 STS very beautiful car before I had a 2005 BMW 750Li that was the worst car I ever had it was on tow truck every month because of ZF faulty Transmission no good you can't go more then 50 miles the car was overheating transmission will go into limp mode very unreliable car the car can not make 300 kilometers without getting towed It had a lots of electronic modules that were not working what a Junk. From 2008 I buy only Cadillac cars the best machine ever made by GM.
My car lol. I have a 2006 LS2 CTS-V. I agree about the gear shifter feeling sloppy. Great car for the money, and yes, I paid about $12k for mine with 109K
I think they are still great cars! What else do you expect from a 130k miles V? looks funny, the body is in good shape and you were so scared from the V8 POWER! I image how fun this car may be on a closed road course, My favorite American sports sedan over the new Caddy V.
Under 5 0-60. I can get about 4.5 in mine, same kind of mods as one in vid, and mid 13s @ 107-109ish mph. They suck at the launch, but on highway, pull harder than you expect. They pull like high 12sec cars on a roll
they are like 5k to 7k in my area with that mileage, do you think it's an affordable (reliable) car? is that engine not like BMW that breaks all the the damn time?
Carlx Hittman The 1st Gen cts-v is plagued with many issues; biggest one being the wheel-hop with the drive-train. All the issues in the 1st Gen were corrected with the 2nd gen. More power, better interior, and bulletproof reliability; the 2nd gen is worth saving up for, I can tell you that.
Dakota LaFrance sorry for replying a month after you commented, but is the reliability really that much of a concern? I'm definitely looking to get a CTS-V sometime soon, but there is a pretty sizeable price gap. Obviously the gap is justified, but it's still there lol
I can't believe it already is 10 years old, damn I'm getting old too!! but you say that it has an LS6 from the Corvette C5, but the C6 is the one that has it, isn't it?
Anyone else get here from watching old school macho man randy savage promos?? I feel like a kid on Christmas morning every time i here matt say " Alright so lets turn on to this back road here"lol
6:05 went from fucking Refined speaking English teacher to WOT "baked", kid next door 😂🤷🏿♂️ REALLLYYYY QUICK BRO. LOL glad to see you love it, I have then cts with the 3.6 v6 n it and I thought it was fast it is but damn that v is something else.
My father has a 2006 Cadillac SRX and I think that the interior is decent looking, but everything creaks and the paint is wearing off, just shows how cheap it is, and his car was almost $50k new, and it has 100k miles on it and it has lifter tick and needs front end work, and it's really not doing well, whereas our 2002 Lexus with 200k miles runs perfectly and the interior is holding up much better.
i have my 04 caddy .i just fix it the same way this cts v look ,. only the diferent between is that my have carbon fiver hood and chrome wheels but anywhere i go alot people tellme that my car look so nice and sharp... even in my work people is like , you drive that caddy outthere???? i say yes is my and then they tellme .. man that car is sweet...😁😏
This is really respectable attempt by Cadillac back in the day. But I'm sure I speak for most of us here when I say, that the 2nd gen CTS-V is miles ahead from this one. The gen ones just look too cheap. Too boxy. Too plastic. And doesn't really stand out from the normal CTS. That's probably why the 1st gen CTS-V never really caught anyone's eye. And it sure as hell didn't make German car buyers, trade in their M/// or AMG for one. But the 09-14s'? Those things FINALLY made the world take Cadillac seriously!
Beat one in my C63 the other day, good cars but the rear end on these cars are like glass, better watch those burnouts are risk messing up that rear end!
Your reaction getting on throttle was priceless lol
that reaction to full throttle though...priceless! Great review!
lol when you went full throttle.
My dad has one, got it in 2005. My brother and I just changed the spark plugs in 9 years and it made a world of difference. i personally still love it
That intro with the low camera shots were awesome! Also, in every review and BRZ update, the acceleration face is the best part, never gets old :)
You're reviews are great, Its nice to see someone reviewing older sports cars for the common peeps who can now afford one.
There's a great aftermarket solution to the shifter as well as some bushings to help with the rear end wheel hop. Lower it and put in some sway bars and it's a blast to drive. Best bang for your buck out there, period.
Damn good quality for 2014 youtube
6:49 Dayum, when the power kicks in
Great video.
You sold me on this car at 6:50! hahahaha
Not bad at all.... But I personally prefer the newest model!
yes the front end looks a lot nicer now!!
Jonathan Robichaud idk i like the more edgy gen1 look over the rounded off sides and doors on the gen2.
Still good looking car though. My buddy has one with 147k miles he will sell me for 6500.
505 enthusiast buy it that's a pretty good deal. I just picked one of these up for 12k with 88k miles on it from a dealership. They had no clue what it was
Sailor Poon that's awesome bro. Very unique car. 2 of my friends have them they are great cars
Got lucky and picked up an 05 v with 75k miles for about $15k, love these M killers
Ryan James how you liking it so far?
I have a 2005 (Stealth Gray), purchased in mid-2010, with about 3k left on the CPO warranty (had 97k on it). I was able to get a few things replaced at that time, including the nav system due to button peeling and some scratches on the screen, so mine is perfect.

Nope. The new one has play, though feels better overall. I wouldn't have spent the time and money to change it if I knew it wouldn't get rid of the play, though...

I have a 2005 V and had the dealer install the $1,200 shock upgrade. It's quite a change so the roll is way less.
Thanks for your honesty reviewing this car, mention the good and bad in a fair and balanced way
I love how you and David use music from RoyalTrax because I can keep listening to my favorite songs while watching your videos.
How come you never show the glove compartments when it comes to the storage part of your reviews?
Nice design work by Cadillac ! Even after ten years , it's still a sharp looking car ! A true classic .

6 speed?
Hey subaruwrxfan, I am a new subscriber to your youtube page, because I think you give the best, and most honest reviews. Plus it helps that you seem to love doing it, so thanks for your reviews.
I understand the uncontrollable laugh when you stepped on it at 6:52. Hilarious

they had the manual for the E60
BimmerMann love the e39 m5 but $1000++ repairs for EACH vanos (2) among everything else that can go wrong is really crazy when the ctsv exist.
If you don't mind me asking why could you not get more footage, did you have camera issues?
I have a 2004 CTS - V LS 6 Black on Black one owner with only 8,800 original miles and I bought it Brand New it is a awesome car Fast and I Love it !
Great review as always! I'm a huge CTS-V fan and it's cool to see you review one. Your reaction during the acceleration was awesome!!
Awesome! I love that back-road acceleration clip! I would def consider buying one of these
I think this generation looks the best! :) absolutely STUNNING
I can't even find one of these in my area. Idk if I'm searching the wrong thing on Craigslist or what.
I enjoyed yr genuinely enthusiastic approach, specifically when you did hit the road :)
Have you had any luck in finding a mazdaspeed 6 to review?
If you like this, you're going to love the newest V's if you haven't yet driven one. Absolutely amazing to drive. I was lucky enough to drive the newest V sedan and all I can say is wow. I hope you get the chance to drive/review the newest model.
I already did review it several months ago, a 2012 model.
I thought the second generation like a buff up bigger version of the 1st one
We had a 2005 V for seven years and loved it. It had 80K miles on it when we sold it and it was in fairly good condition. Thanks Evan Ganske we really like our old V.

Thanks dramabeatz33 !
At the final stages of buying my accord coupe v6. Plz try and find one kuz I do not want to regret $30000. Love ur car reviews!
I've been looking, just haven't been able to find one! Hondas are great cars so I don't think it would really disappoint you, but since its heavy and front wheel drive it probably won't be the most sporty but it could still be fun and comfortable.
Thanks man I'm not sure about the fwd but I'm going to go through with it
Can you please review the Honda S2000 AP2??
wtf its a manual oh hell yah

those low shots were really really good :)
Thanks! Bought some new gear. Always trying to get better :)
yy
Damn. Why couldn't you continue filming? I wanted to see more of your reactions...
interesting car. personally a 10 year old GM product doesn't appeal to me but i can respect the hardware of this thing
I just bought the same car same miles same mods but I put a came in and professionally dynoed good review pretty much spot on I would have to say
how do you like this car so far, looking at one right now with V6, 3.6 Liter how is the gas milage thanks
OK, I'm sold on this car. I've been eyeing a supercharged one in my area, might have to jump on it if possible.
Nice review man. What camera were you using for the intro shits?
Canon T3i

Good review. Its great tat you review some older subjects, as a few people are afraid of handling an older vehicle.
No woodgrain? Is this a Cadillac?
subaruwrxfan whos cars are those whenever you do a review about the cars?
Excellent video very well explained love the Cadillac cars i have 2009 STS very beautiful car
before I had a 2005 BMW 750Li that was the worst car I ever had it was on tow truck every month because of ZF faulty Transmission no good you can't go more then 50 miles the car was overheating transmission will go into limp mode very unreliable car the car can not make 300 kilometers without getting towed It had a lots of electronic modules that were not working what a Junk. Could you please review a Chevy cobalt ss I'm thinking about getting one
My car lol. I have a 2006 LS2 CTS-V. I agree about the gear shifter feeling sloppy. Great car for the money, and yes, I paid about $12k for mine with 109K
I'd still go for getting the 300C SRT over this. Still a nice car none the less!
Have they ever told you, you look like Joseph Cross. The guy who played it as Danny Krueger in "Born To Race." btw, i recommend you watch it!
Compairing a ctsv to a brz..........do i need to say anything else?
What about a STS-V review
Can u review more scion tc
I think they are still great cars! What else do you expect from a 130k miles V? looks funny, the body is in good shape and you were so scared from the V8 POWER! I image how fun this car may be on a closed road course, My favorite American sports sedan over the new Caddy V.
How's the gas on this car? i'm thinking about buying one of these for 4k, but the mpg is pretty much the only thing throwing me off right now
+Oscar Navarro 4,000? The price seems ungodly low. Does it have 300k miles on it or what?
+Orrahs It had 102k to be exact
+Orrahs its just a cts though, not cts-v
+Oscar Navarro my cts went over 200,000. miles easy i had the 3.2 engine..
garbage cars don't do it.
This car has 3.78 gears so it moves!
Your review are great but i just don't get it why you floor a sports car so little ,very strict law for speeding or what?
I will Buy one This Style is the best looking to me I don’t like the new ones..
How fast were these things? 5.5 to 60 and 13.7 to 1/4mile?
More power, better interior, and bulletproof reliability; the 2nd gen is worth saving up for, I can tell you that.
not an lsx, LS2 and LS6
Dakota LaFrance sorry for replying a month after you commented, but is the reliability really that much of a concern? I'm definitely looking to get a CTS-V sometime soon, but there is a pretty sizeable price gap. Obviously the gap is justified, but it's still there lol
I can't believe it already is 10 years old, damn I'm getting old too!! but you say that it has an LS6 from the Corvette C5, but the C6 is the one that has it, isn't it?
LS6 is from C5Z. LS7 is from C6Z. LS2 (comes in CTS-V from 06-07, and in C6 from 05 to 07 I believe, before its replaced with LS3 in C6.)
You needa review a g8 ASAP !
can I use regular gas for this car?
No
Only premium
Review a E46 m3! You'll like that a lot!
Anyone else get here from watching old school macho man randy savage promos?? I feel like a kid on Christmas morning every time i here matt say " Alright so lets turn on to this back road here"lol
looks still awesome for a ten yoar old car
Thanks DerultimateKeks
Good looking car. Love the orange fogs
Since this is a CTS-V I guess you could say V-tec kicked in. BTW on the engine strut are where it says LS6 that's the engine right?
Yes, it's an LS6 5.7 Liter V8.
Love that pun!
(MrSniper)+ From Mars! haha honestly, when I wrote that, I was really tired and I had random thoughts going through my head. But, glad you liked it.
The tire pressures being that high on that suspension is rough
how much do these go for now?
10-15 k bro
YOU'RE_A_QUEER NUTT I've seen under 100k mile ones for under 10k recently
YOU'RE_A_QUEER NUTT I just bought one this morning for 9k with 108K

Joshua The Science god 😂😂😂🤦🏽♂️
(Hysterical Laughter).
Joshua The Science god 😹
They do have diff reliability issues though
Please subaruwrxfan review a BMW M5 E39 OR A Nissan 240sx. Please I would love to see one since I love driving.
@6:51 LOOOOOOOL great review man
I bet the ride was a lot better without all those miles. Unless the owner replaced the springs and shocks.
6:05 went from fucking Refined speaking English teacher to WOT "baked", kid next door 😂🤷🏿♂️ REALLLYYYY QUICK BRO. LOL glad to see you love it, I have then cts with the 3.6 v6 n it and I thought it was fast it is but damn that v is something else.

nice review!

Fair review.
Paint is terrible! Needs to be detailed.
LeadFootLiam well the car is 10 years old. Probably needs to be recoated.
LeadFootLiam Ž
Lets see about that power again shall we? ... Immediate smile
This guy is awesome!!!
