As someone with autism and ADHD who is still in their childhood (I’m 14) I’ve suffered bullying in school since I was around 8. I don’t really remember because I didn’t understand I was being bullied until I was about 11. People with autism can react without thinking and I think that happened to this boy. He was provoked. People with autism can have higher emotional responses, especially children. I live in the UK and children under 10 can’t be placed with criminal charges. I hope, 5 years later things have changed and this won’t happen again.
I know this comment is a few months old but I just wanna say that I'm sorry you've gone through that. I'm autistic and was bullied at that age too, it always breaks my heart a little to see kids go through the same thing, but as an adult I can say that things do get better. Once I got out of high school things improved immensely, you just gotta hold on until then.
Let’s also consider he’s autistic. He’s not a “simple child” who had a tantrum, this kid has special needs which it seems his teachers couldn’t take care of.
@@theagaming7410 you don't call the cops on a little kid with autism because he hit a teacher. Unless the teacher was an 80 year old lady she is completely fine. Kids hit people all the time, you don't just arrest them.

I was expelled for my school for standing up for myself. I've been being bullied for over 2 years and for the previous two weeks before I'd been expelled I had been being violently harassed and having death threats sent to me daily. So I ended up punching the kid who was mainly doing it, I had not intended on doing this but she had instigated it. Either way though none of the teachers, principal, or counselor did anything to help me when I had continuously came to them asking for them to move me to different classes and or to deal with the situation. I even asked the school officer to help me and he told me that my situation was not high priority. He basically told me my life didn't mean s***. And people question why I have trust issues. They tell us to stand up for ourselves, and defend ourselves, but we get in trouble when we do just that.
Literally happened to me, people can’t handle when their actions have consequences. Can’t insult them, can’t do nothing. That’s when I knew no one is on your side but yourself.
@OM D you guys got it all wrong, he's NOT calm, he's shaking with anger, you can see it in the video, he's trying to hold it all in ebcause he'd probably assault the officers and teh teachers for what they're doing
Yeah so? The kid tried to use a weapon on the bully... And besides it is protocol for officers to cuff anyone they arrest... Doesn't matter the age or mental state
The problem with most schools is that their “zero-tolerance” is more like “if I didn’t see it it didn’t happen.” They need to get to know their students better to realize the difference from a bully and a bullied student standing up for themself.
This dad is so warm hearted, huge respect to him :) EDIT: Thanks so much for all of the likes, I actually have autism myself and it is hard, especially when I try to make friends, although luckily I have some very good ones. I appreciate it!
Think y’all screwed up your report a bit. Let me help: “Boy with autism isn’t treated correctly by his classmates, defends himself, is mentally unable to calm down in the moment, hitting a teacher, gets arrested while the entire school looks on at him.” There you go.
He won't ever forget that lesson will he? I would bet money that this kid is almost never punished for anything at home or at school. He's autistic not severely handicapped. U know what u get when u never punish an autistic child? A full grown adult with the strength of a grown man who thinks he's excempt from the rules. Sounds a little dangerous right? Pry would make a great cop with an attitude like that.
@@garrettromer8499 the problem in this case is the fact that the kid couldn’t think properly. First of all he is autistic. Now that it self is already a big problem when it comes to logic and thinking straight. Another reason is the fact that the kid was bullied prior to the fight at recess. Now anybody knows its 10x harder for a kid with autism to just stop listening to bullies. Plus the fact that the teacher took the side of the bullies shows us that she didn’t care. That also must have triggered something in the kid’s head causing him to punch the teacher.
The point of school is to teach you about the subjects so you can go to higher education, as long as it has that down, the social aspects aren't too important.
This only happens in American schools, in south africa, anyone can fight at school without getting into trouble, teachers in South African schools dont care.
I mean even if he punched the teacher...How much damage can a 9 year old boy do...Something is fishy here. Either the boy was defending himself against the teachers son or the teacher just hates the boy.
I’ve worked as a 1:1 teacher for kiddos with behavioral struggles. A majority of my kids would occasionally lash out/have episodes of hitting, kicking biting, etc. I’m concerned and disappointed about the way the school handled this.
i know, how much damage can a kid do in that setting with no weapons? its like people who ruin other people's lives by filing a lawsuit against them for assault, or battery. but really they only touched them with a finger.
I think it's less about the kid defending himself and the teacher just using her rights to the fullest extent of the law. People will sue anyone if they can. That's just how the culture is.
Imagine how scaring this must be for this kid, this will immediately be melted in his brain forever. Its truly disgusting a child had to go through that. Seriously its so devistating.
As a Teenager who has Autism and ADHD, I used to have these tamper tantrums WEEKLY when I was younger thankfully I often had 1 on 1 nearly every second when I was at school. Others don’t have that option though. Even then, the way the school went about it was so wrong.
As someone who was heavily bullied in elementary school and also suffers from autism, I completely felt this kid’s pain of having the humiliating feeling of consequences being thrown on you for defending yourself from bullies. I couldn’t even IMAGINE what I would be like if I were arrested in elementary school like that at such a young age. Shame on that school honestly. I genuinely hope he’s doing much better now.
My school says to go tp the teacher if somebody hits you, not for me, when i was in second grade, some kid stabbed me in the forhead with a fork, i punched him,and got in more trouble than he did
A Doge Named Yeet no you can’t protect yourself, pretty much no matter what happens after one person hits the other your both getting in trouble even if one runs and doesn’t fight back I do believe
Why was the boy arrested, he was defending himself, it should be the bullies getting charged... Now the charges will ruin his reputation. This is heartbreaking-
They had dropped the Charges. The thing that upsets me the most is at the end the Teachers had came into an agreement that"It was handles with care". It suck's how they Automatically just Arrested the kid with Autism and Not the bullies it wasn't Handled with care cause out of everything the bullies should have been arrested or nobody at all thats not how to stop bullying that just makes the kids think that its OK to bully and whoever they bully will be arrested or detained.
@@Ari-gz2fz They just shouldn't arrest anyone. The bullies hadn't gone through puberty yet so how could they know what's right and wrong still. I honestly think they could have sued the police department

Because this guy stood up against the teacher duuuh😒 and because the parents don't care about their kids to explain to them how to fight with intelligence. I was bullied and almost took my bully's eye out with a sharp penicil. It was a big deal but, after that, I learned how to defend myself without getting caught 😁
@@nicoleackerman205 You're all idiots siding with this crappy kid. He wasn't bullied that's just his parents justification to try and convince you sheepeople to feel bad for him. A kid that's bullied doesn't hit a bully and then hit the teacher open your eyes.
That's what this country is known for... protecting bullies! My autistic son went through the same thing. He shoved a girl because he told me she was screaming at him. America is a garbage country to raise children. Not even Japanese treat kids this way.
As someone who is also diagnosed Autistic, this is heartbreaking to watch. I was bullied constantly in elementary and middle school because I was the quiet kid. I always kept my head down and just took the beating but this young man was brave enough to stand up for himself but got arrested for it. Schools allow bullying to be ignored but when a bullying victim finally stands up for themselves and fights back, the school immediately calls the cops?! WTF! Its even worse because Autistic people have very high anxiety and getting put in handcuffs and arrested will have a autistic child's anxiety go through the roof. This kid has my support 110% (Edit #1: Wow I never expected this many likes and comments, Thank you!!!)
Having autism doesn’t matter in this situation, if he did something that is against the law, he will learn his lesson, just cause has autism doesn’t mean he should be let off
@@DanielScherer7 If he did something wrong the school staff shouldve been more than capable to handle it themselves without having to call the cops. Hes only a 9 year old kid, what threat is he to the safety of school staff and students. Its like reporting someone to the FBI over a small disagreement, its stupid. The only thing that school did was make themselves look bad and waste the time of those police officers who I'm sure would agree about how dumb it is to call the police on a 9 year old kid with autism. Now if it were a Highschool student making violent threats than I would understand why a school would call 911. But this isn't what happened, the school overreacted and got an innocent child arrested, which will very very likely stay in his memories for a good part of his life.

That’s insane, he’s a small child, autism or not. It’s absolutely natural for children to lash out when they’re being bullied, through education we teach them it’s not appropriate. I can’t help but put blame on the teacher here.
Yeah I remember even as highschool my school got attacked by other school cause Football match and all they did isn't caught every other school student but make us all go together talk together, I mean even its destroying some glass and door from my school, I heard some student got arrested buy the police just take in the police car and defend it from people around school and off course my school student who got angry but they didn't take it to police school just take it to their home and inform their parent about what he do and said its cant be arrest because under 17 age. Its Highschool 16 age student, but this thing... so stupid... I mean imagine 9 years old kid being called criminal by his friend... so so stupid.
Also give some blame to these officers. I feel like at any point they could have said “there’s nothing we can do” considering it was a school fight. No way the law says you can arrest a 9 year old for getting into a fight man, come on.
The most I got for defending myself was in school suspension the teachers felt bad because I was only defending myself( I stepped on the kids foot- I’m short for my age so I wasn’t particularly brave enough to do much else) but they were following school policy.
The teacher is absolutely DISGUSTING calling the police on a NINE year old kid is truly pathetic and unprofessional, I can't imagine how scared the boy must have been.
Sue the school and the police! That's outrageous and traumatizing to that child. If dad was there, why would he be cuffed and taken away like that? Disgusting
I'm just trying to wonder why the cops didn't stop and go like "ok this is stupid" if anything the bully should get in trouble for instigating the situation
It is awful how schools promote no bullying, and when it happens they do nothing about it. I was in a similar situation (not getting arrested) where I was defending my self to my bully and they let her go back to class where they kept me in the office for hours and wouldn't let me call my mom, so I had to go to the bathroom and call her while they watch me walk to the bathroom. They would let her free bc she has a bad home life, but that shouldn't be an excuse to let her walk free. That's why today I don't trust schools anymore.
They might not have evidence that the kid was really being bullied. They DID have evidence that the victim had struck back. Not a great thing, but evidence rules, here.
Snowzy it’s not like he had a gun. He hit a teacher did he hit the teacher more than once we don’t know but once is a principal office visit suspension but not arrest. That teacher needs to grow a pair
Zule Productions i know. But there were better ways to handle it than getting police involved. They could’ve gotten both his parents to a parent teacher conference and all 3 can tell the kid that what he did was wrong mentioning that he can get arrested that way and make him apologize. He’ll learn that way.
The Playinghand Show our school has three stories, and on the second story, two kids were fighting, and one got thrown over the railing. And only this gets reported on the news?
Not defending their actions, but it was the fact that he hit the teacher. Obviously it was handled poorly by the school by calling the police but that's not the reason he got arrested
@@NeonGD so the boy being autistic doesn't mean anything? Kids with autism have a VERY hard time controlling themselves. I have seen kids with autism before. And when they break out there is nothing they can do to control it
This is horrible. They went too far! An experience no child should go through. Yet, many people abusing their partners don't get arrested for 'lack of evidence'.
Years later when that kid grows up he’s gonna be proud of himself because he defended himself, fought the bullies, got arrested and had those charges dropped. Most importantly, he has a great dad who stood with him during that rough time. Kinda cool to think about.
Never in my entire life have I seen a child who got in a little fight get arrested n' charged instead of being kicked out of school or expelled for doing it too many times. The fact that he has a disability issue in his brain & they're treating him this way is absurdly disgusting. The kid deserves a better school with better people running the place than the one he's at right now.
The kid with a disability should be with other kids also with those issues. Where the teacher is upfront told about what a terrible job it'll be and deals with it accordingly.

He’ll learn that way.
The Playinghand Show our school has three stories, and on the second story, two kids were fighting, and one got thrown over the railing.
And only this gets reported on the news?
Same dude but then again they didn't hit the teacher
A kid in my school, threw a chair at a substitute teacher. He was just told to go to the principal
I have autism. And I feel bad for him. If I were to get arrested, I would be crying too.
Bully: bullies somebody
School: whatever
Victim: stands up for himself
School: *Now this is an avengers level threat*
Yes the world is so in justice
Crappy public schools in a nutshell
Not defending their actions, but it was the fact that he hit the teacher. Obviously it was handled poorly by the school by calling the police but that's not the reason he got arrested
@@NeonGD so the boy being autistic doesn't mean anything? Kids with autism have a VERY hard time controlling themselves. I have seen kids with autism before. And when they break out there is nothing they can do to control it
@@UniformGem2 im literally saying thats not the reason he was arrested lol
“Compassion” would have been to call the parents, not the police. The school admins should be arrested.
Exactly. But c'mon Tarr that would make too much sense. Maybe the school administrator needs to be Tarr and feathered. Lol
@@jerrylisby3440 😂
Arrested for what
Arrested for fighting? If thats the case 40% of kids would get arrested😒
In my school no one would be left lol
Windows 10 LMAO
max is king 500 for real, I would’ve been arrested 9 times
max is king 500 RIP there goes me
My school does the old fashioned way, getting suspended.
Charging a 9 year old. DSIGUSTING!!!
This is horrible. They went too far! An experience no child should go through. Yet, many people abusing their partners don't get arrested for 'lack of evidence'.
Our school system sucks
yes
Just teaching him a lesson!
@@Luisan-PR lesson for what? self defense?
@@Luisan-PR What could a child possibly gain from this?
Police were called? this school has issues man.
Turninator ikr my school would just give ISS for 2 days....
Turninator at my school there would be no flight about it that police would get called if somebody was attacking people.
Turninator I agree. Poor devin ;(. He's arrested at da age of 9 years old. Even he had autism.
The cool Guy poor devin oh yeah was his bully punished for bullying devin?
Now days, schools have cops working there
Aren’t they supposed to arrest killers and not 4th graders?
No one is above the law. Unfortunately a child can get arrested.
Yeah I'm pretty sure they have better things to do then arrest a 4th grader
Copied
You just copied the top comment and just changed it a little so you could get likes. Sad
@@Masky-wz2wr again. Blame the school not the cops. Prob a stupid strict school.
Why is he getting handcuffed and not released to his parents?
I like how the teacher didnt react when the kid got bullied only when he defended himself.😻Dumbass teacher.
Peach ikr, UGH THAT GOD DAMN TEACHER!!! i mean cmon, if i were there i’d get all my friends to complain, ill tell my parents to stop it
gnithe no its more like analyze the situation before you act, and dont let what you see could your judgement
gnithe you’re talking about the kid....
gnithe the kid was defending himself, so you’d rather get beaten up??
gnithe its not going to prison worthy
The boy made me sad that " Bye Dad, I Love you."
Shoreasiamensis Shoreasiamensis oh my gawd yas 🥺
Shoreasiamensis Shoreasiamensis I know right! 😭 this made me cry.
Ik it’s emotional 😭
Maybe next time he will think before he acts.
He probably thought he will never see his dad again😭😢
Years later when that kid grows up he’s gonna be proud of himself because he defended himself, fought the bullies, got arrested and had those charges dropped. Most importantly, he has a great dad who stood with him during that rough time. Kinda cool to think about.
yes
Wait. Devin was bullied. Wtf is wrong with that school
you can't charge a kid
@@yvricz1410 No you can definitely charge a minor
@@mattyboitv7694 yeah for felonies not a school year fight where a soft teacher calls the copa
What kind of police and teacher is this, arresting a boy with autism, What a disgusting mission😠
Check it out, there’s children as young as 6 that’s been arrested for less then this. I’m sure you can find it on UA-cam or goggle it.
dude autism or not he hit a teacher sick or not cancer or not we all still get punishment that teacher did go to far
The kid with a disability should be with other kids also with those issues. Where the teacher is upfront told about what a terrible job it'll be and deals with it accordingly.
I have a brain issue too you having a mental disability is no excuse a bunch of people in jail have mental disabilities
People with autism don’t have an issue with their head it’s just like adhd but a bit better than that
Who ever called the cops is a snitch dude
masonking765 So, teachers could be snitches

Yeah right, as james Potter was considered good being a bully. He bullied u.
I literally live near a school where my mom works.
Never have i seen a punishment this severe especially for a child. This is cruel.
The state of Georgia once imprisoned a young Black girl for calling a white kid a bastard on a school bus....
