I made my own old tape by painting mixed media paper with watercolors. I used ochre, raw umber and some brighter yellow. Then I scanned the sheet and saved it to my computer and then printed on sticky paper. Looks good! And I can print it whenever I want. I saved the original and I can play around with it to make a slightly different or darker shade. Hope this helps some people.
Mornin Gayle 😊. Painting book pages...my favorite thing to do with them. Using different brush sizes and stiffer bristles can add a look of texture. Hint/tip: a bit of water added to paint will make it more translucent and make your paint go farther. Also, the cheap paint from the dollar store is translucent (reminds me of the kids paint for finger painting) and again saves the better (and costlier) paint. Good morning and Greetings From the Laundry Room! I’m so glad you chose to do a Mixed Media Monday…I was missing it, too! As you began to paint your book pages, I remembered a technique I used when I first saw you paint them: Use an Acrylic paint Medium Glaze in SATIN finish with your acrylics to make them more translucent! I’ve always used Golden brand and it works beautifully. I fear adding water to your acrylics will cause the book pages to become even more fragile. Hobby Lobby stocks the Liquitex brand and they also have a satin finish acrylic medium glaze. You’ve got my brain churning for a few ideas of very old book pages I have that are in need of a little painting! Thank you for the inspiration! Hugs! 💗
Great fun! Glad your wrist is healed enough so you can get messy in the craft room. You can always toss the stencils into a pan of warm water as you finish with them. It will make clean up more thorough, later.
When I get too much paint on a paper I use another paper to take some of it off. I place the additional page face down on the one with too much paint then rub it. Don't leave it on very long as they can "glue" themselves together. Love your ideas Gayle.

I make my aged tape on actual tape. I got a roll of the old fashion shiny tape from the dollar tree and I just put strips down on parchment paper and then use my alcohol inks. I initially put it down on page protectors but it was really hard to get off. It comes off the parchment paper easily.

Good morning Gayle!! Love how your painted papers came out. I played with watercolors yesterday on book pages. So fun!! I have found using 409 spray cleaner on my stencils works really good to clean them. Melts away paint and inks, then I rinse them and they're like new. Have an awesome day...💜
A great tool for scrubbing stencils are the surgical scrubbers from Lee Valley Tools. They are soft but get into small spaces so you can scruff with lots of pressure without damaging the stencil. 👍🦌💌❤️📚

Hi Gayle. I never did thank you for answering my question about what were your favourite tag sizes to use, and now I can't find the video. Please forgive me for not thanking you sooner. Years ago I bought your "Coffee dyed kit 1” down load. I make my vintage looking tape by printing one of the yellow prints, on sticker paper, then rotating the paper and printing it again so there isn't a definite pattern. It works fantasticaly.

I’m thinking that a white stencilled paper with the texture paint will have enough texture after drying to lightly burnish to top with something gold, even a stamp pad. You sure energize my imagination! thanks 😘🦌💌❤️📚
Sis, I had the exact same thing happen to me on the book pages with that gold but it was fine on everything else. I thought maybe my pages were too old but now I think it must just be the book pages. Hmmm …so strange! 😮
I took your advice and watched the series about oxy. While, I do remember some of what went on with that, there is so much that I didn’t know. It was actually kind of disturbing. Thank you for the recommendation.

I think Ceri the Crafter was talking about paints having different types of coverage. You can buy transparent type and irradecence and of coverage.
I used simple paints, well mycame out okay, love yours, I have to keep trying, thanks for sharing.

So fun! I think the metallic gold paste was to heavy, maybe mix a little with gesso?
