"Makeup is subjective".... Thank you. I've been wanting to post something on TT for awhile because I just turned 40 (literally yesterday) and I really dislike videos that state "what NOT to do", especially for a certain age range. I hate them because makeup IS subjective and completely unique to the individual wearing it. So to tell someone NOT to wear their makeup a certain way when they might feel beautiful that way is very cruel. You're video had me worried at first but in true Kelly fashion you came to teach and be respectful!! I loved the tips you shared and how you kept it very respectful. Very classy as always❤.
I am probably a bit more "mature" than some of your followers but your take on drugstore products is top notch so I always refer to your videos for this information. This video is everything. Some tips were great reminders and some were aha moments. GREAT VIDEO!!!! Thank you Kelly!
The eyebrow, powder under the eyes and the curling your lashes tips are a must for me. I got to age 30 before I started to realize I needed to curl my lashes, they are average length, pin straight and they hate holding a curl, so I just wouldn't do it and my lashes had a very droopy look especially on the right eye which is a bit droopier. However I finally found a heated eyelash curler on Amazon and I got a percision eyelash curler from Revlon that can reach the corner lashes I can't reach without pinching my eyelid, they work amazing together. I curl at the base then the tips of my lashes, then I use Maybelline the Falsies Lash lift waterproof mascara, it actually holds a curl and gives you a lot of length and definition that lasts. Then I curl again if needed, total game changer!
I sooo appreciate you saying this about lashes that are too heavy/overpowering! I use to do this too and my eyes looked so droopy 😅 now I wear more natural lashes! It opens up my eyes and looks flattering ❤
The foundation / primer was so informative I loved it!! I feel like I actually learned the difference and now will look into what my primer and foundation combo is!!
Love the tips you shared.I catch myself doing certain things a old way.I really do love the tips because it does make your makeup look different.I like a good makeup look.
Kelly, I have been a long-tome follower of yours and I love how you do your makeup, but I can appreciate these tips and tricks of yours, especially the blush placement! I have a round face and I cannot believe the difference in the two placement you did on your blush!! Love this!!!
makeup is completely subjective and this is all just about personal preference (said by kelly herself) - always wear a primer - make sure u don't mix water based and silicone based primer & foundation bc it mixes like oil and water. (silicone primer = silicone foundation, water primer = water foundation) --- (check ingredients list to find out which is which) - match foundation to neck - understand blush placement & what works for your face shape and desired outcome - always set your under eyes with powder - only outline the bottom of your brows (gently) to prevent boxy and harsh brows - pack eyeshadow in before blending bc it keeps it clean and not too harsh (tbh optional) - always curl your lashes !!!!! - find the balance of a lash that compliments your eyes and not overpowers - only overline the cupid's bow & the center of the bottom lip (follow natural lip line along the sides) - if youre doing the nude glossy lip thing use a matte lipstick underneath that basically matched your lip shade before putting on gloss so it still looks like the natural gloss, but lasts wayy longer
Thank you for this Kelly, I have done most of these things and always wondered what I was doing wrong. Thank you for actually explaining everything step by step. I appreciate you and as always you look gorgeous!
Could you please do a full face of all your holy grail makeup choices? It can be a mix of high end and low end as long as they are your ABSOLUTE favorites!! Please include skin prep for your makeup.
Just a suggestion, I'm also super oily, I use the elf power grip primer and then my long wearing foundation. I struggled with primers for years. This is the only one that has seemed to work for me. ❤
Depends on what type of makeup I'm using. My go to favorite drugstore makeup primers are Milani Bright Side Illuminating Face Primer and Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer and these two primers work well together. Elf Halo Glow Powder is my favorite drugstore powder. I love using it before I go in with my complexion products after I do my skincare to make it all set. I did go to school for makeup and I learned that curling your eyelashes before going in with eyeshadow makes it last longer.
What is your go-to lash curler??? I've been curling mine since I was about 16, and I'm 49! It DOES make a huge difference! Totally opens the eye! Even if I go without makeup!
I 100% agree with you on the false lashes, eyebrow and lips. I am so happy to know that the primer and foundation needs to be the same base; oil or water.
Love this!! I have watched you for years and I loved seeing you create different looks but I never particularly got ‘tips’ due to my makeup style being very different. Now I get loads of tips and recommendations from you as your style has evolved! Different makeup but same lovely chatty style which I’ve always really enjoyed ❤
Excellent video Kelly! I think this advice is very helpful for newbies and us oldies. It's never to late to change your style. With that being said, I totally agree that you should do what makes you feel good, makeup for me is an extension of my personality so be yourself and don't what others think. Life's to short so don't sweat the small stuff! Thanks again for your videos and love your channel.
I have been watching makeup tutorial for almost ten years now, and I never thought I could still learn so much! Love this video! Love your content! Love you! PLUS, some things in your makeup routine might have changed, but you're still the same sweet person from when I first started watching your videos, and I love that!!!! ❤❤❤
Kelly thanks for the tips. In regards to primers what is the best primer for under rhe IT cosmetics CC cream. Everyone I use makes this look awful and look crepy and not smooth.
Oh my goodness! I feel so stupid but thank you so much for explaining about the primer/foundation! It makes so much sense but I never thought about it and no one has ever explained it that I watch. I really appreciated that 🥰
Great video!! Thank you for all of the tips. Thank you for doing these videos. For my eyes I have to go large because I have a larger eyelid. I still come up with great looks. 💖💖💖
❤❤it's no wonder you're so loved - you're wise beyond your years!! The tip about the lashes is so insanely accurate it's not funny -- I've been seeing more women my age (I'll be 50 this year) still wearing the super fluffy lashes and that's great for them, if that's what they like- me personally agree with you with the more natural lip. I think you've also mentioned the lip lining trick before because I started doing it after seeing you do it and LOVE IT. What a great video!! ❤
I loved this video with all the tips! I really enjoy your videos and have learned A LOT from you!! Everyone always tells me now your make up is flawless!! Which I love the compliments. Then I always have to say you have to watch Kelly on UA-cam! ❤❤ Also something you could do is tell us what kind of brushes you are using to do your make up. Like which brushes you use to blend eyeshadows etc. Or like your favorites.
I wore a primer with a BB cream and made me look like I was sweating. I learned not to use BB or CC cream with primer because of this. Would you do the same Kelly?
Not sure why you got a sweaty look - was the BB cream more on the dewy side? Primer is important to use before applying anything to the face, whether it be BB/CC or Foundation. It smooths the skin, and helps keep the product on top last longer.
My opinion there aren't really "mistakes". it's how people want to do it. I'm going by the thumbnail pi. You explained exactly what I was thinking in the very beginning of your video, lol. A lot of people still wear it the way the X of thumbnail side looks, and It still looks fine. But yea the tips of applying things the right way is always great!!
@@KellyStrackI was going completely by thumbnail and title. You summed everything up in your video that I was also thinking. I thank you for that cause no one is cautious of their wording (which it sucks you even have to be, but these day's unfortunately you have to be when it come to this type of job) but I do appreciate that you do go out of your way to explain what you mean. Doing what you do is the exact reason you are never on the drama channels and I love that lol!!
Hi Kelly good morning happy Wednesday morning and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Great video .Learned a lot. Did not know to use silicone primers with a silicone foundation and water base primer with water base foundation. Thanks. Never looked at this information.
I don't care about curling my lashes. It's not me. But, one good tip I've started doing is to first go down with the lash brush, coating the underside of the lashes, and then apply the mascara as normal and it works wonders for me. The lashes will look thicker, not clumpy but still separated. It's actually enjoyable to apply my mascara this way. Mind you, I've only been doing this a couple months and I'm hooked! I also recently started applying my concealer AFTER my other makeup has been applied and then going in and touching up my blush. It has shortened my routine and gives the blurring affect of powder, making the skin look perfected, and works well for me since I'm not much of a powder girl. I'm 51, so the way I apply makeup has changed alot through the years and it's been refined. Just a couple tips I've learned.
I’m not really understanding going “down” with the lash brush. Can you be more expository? I guess I understand going down, but then you said it coats the underside of the lashes. Seems like it would be the opposite. 🤔
What a difference Kelly. I could see that as you went along with the makeup. This has been a very helpful video and gives me something to think about as I do my makeup too. Thank you for all of the wonderful tips and the whys and why nots. Great video Kelly.❤💖🌸🌹💐
Love this video, blush placement is amazing, however I feel you never did your brows so boxy, always brushed them , cleaned and blended before (5 years ago)and big lashes look good for night outs I think this style is bit too clumsy but you used to wear long feathery whispy lashes, you always cut your lashes in past ❤️ so those never looked bad, powdering the face makes the biggest difference
Omg I just ordered that primer today I wish I would have known you were gonna review this I didn't use a discount code pd full price I saw it on tic tok

If you warm you eyelash curler with a lighter it works wonders on your lashes and then apply your mascara.
The best tip for me was the blush. I did not know how to still wear a blush without looking like a doll. Watching what you did makes sense. Thank you.
