Wise words Wayne, Being alone is not lonely, good on you. You are doing excellent work, giving your viewers lots of interesting information. Thank you. Margaret
I'm back up in Jawa for two months and locals don't understand that I'm quite happy being a single 60 year old living here and traveling around Indonesia by myself...
They really are patient and I'm very grateful for it as many Indonesian speakers who foloow my channels understand my ability id very limited....for now. :)
@WCMoss it says volumes about the Indonesian people, doesn't it. I wonder sometimes if westerners are as gracious when it comes to foreigners speaking English? I remember being where you are now with your level of Indonesian. It's like hitting a wall. The frustration pushed me to keep learning. You will get there because you have the desire to meet people and communicate. I speak reasonably fluent Indonesian now but even after 35 years I still make mistakes. (Constantly corrected by my three sons) LOL. The more you use it, the better it will become. Keep up the good work.
@@dalecollins-smith3551 Appreciate it, Dale. Yes, it's frustrating at times being a beginner with the language but even when making a complete mess of it the Indonesians I think respect that you're trying. Being completely immersed as you are with a family to keep you on your toes is as thorough a tuition as you could want, I think. Cheers.
I think the couple selling expensive coffee were from Sade Village....Authentic Lombok Village and a bit of a tourist trap.....entrance fee + guide fee + slightly pressured donation requests from the guide. Beautiful Village if you can look past the covert HARD SELL and break away for some quiet observation, a chat with Ibu's and a little contemplation...... 🕊🙏💙🙏
I had the same thing with dogs on Kuta beach.......The only place in Bali and Lombok that I was very unsettled with the beach dogs.....it was late in the arvo and close to sunset and they just had a aggitated vibe about them.......And I decided not to hang around to strike up any sort of conversation with them.....🤔😂 🕊🙏💙🙏
No rain. Mu untung. Haha. Ure rite about being single. Especially in there own families big big pressure on kids. To get married..! Enjoy ure . observation of Indonesians ..daily life. Great to see n learn. .. semoga success..
I have no idea really and just guessing, but maybe that GP thing (you couldn't understand what ibu said) might have something to do with the Moto GP track that opened there a few years ago. Definitely going to come over on the ferry with our bike one day to see a race there. Quite enjoy catching up with your adventures each day, so please keep it up.
Thanks Robert. I did think it had something to do with the bike races and if you're into Moto GP a trip over on a bike sounds like it would be fun for you.
Packs of wild dogs are a problem in quite a few places, became more so after any natural disaster where lots of people died. Lombok hit by big earthquake as well as Covid in the last few years. As far as sense of self goes, I suspect that living in a society where "stuff" is not so important leads to a greater personal investment in that society, and hence self is enhanced by that - sadly largely lost in many western cultures over the last 200 years.
As a 63 yr old single woman who luvs solo traveling in and around s S.E.Asia, I'm always asked about why I don't have a husband/partner. Like u with the expensive joke, I say, I don't play well with others and they laugh & the topic changes.
Some country's dogs seem to just hate cyclists I've heard, and I've seen some tourers discussing the best form of repellent from a sticks, to pepper spray, high pitched squeals..Glad you haven't had any problems.
Hi Wayne,in Bali you seemed intrigued by the Balinese ladies, however marriage is a massive responsibility taking away freedoms. It is fine to be semi nomadic, however like my ex found out, when moving for a gf,some ppl are similar with partners in very keen at first but then needing a new challenge. It is good to know our traits but personally I would rather have a good travelling friend at times than the complexities of a relationship as been single by choice for far too long. People who find a partner overseas also need to be a provider and more settled so perhaps solo is best option Feral dogs worry me as in Myanmar once a pack of aggressive dogs were a problem&you may need to carry protection.Either way I would prefer to be away than at home at Christmas which is just commercialisation for most Stay safe, single&healthy 😆
It's funny that unless someone else mentions it Christmas is not at all on my radar. i'll try remind myself to wish my family merry Christmas but beyond that i don't really pay it much mind at all. it's a pretty scary experience when a pack of dogs gets you in there sights, isn't it? They can be really intent on getting to you. often just reaching to the ground for stones will dissuade them, but sometimes like yesterday they aren't easily intimidated.
These raw footage vlogs are fascinating! You certainly don’t hide behind any artifice, Wayne. Bravo! It’s what makes great content!💕 The trash on an otherwise idyllic beach hard to stomach, though. As for similar incidents with dogs in my travels, I always carry walking stick, and bag of stones….
@@arkymichael6935 Thank, arky. Trying to keep it a bit real as I myself find it difficult to watch anything that's too produced or comes with any sort of facade. The rubbish is a bit off-putting I have to agree. A few stones will be the order of the day from now on, I think. Cheers.
You say that a pack of dogs came after you. Of course I love dogs and they are usually fine, but dogs can also be very dangerous and I can't help but worry when you say a pack of dogs was coming after you and that dogs can be a problem in that area that you're staying in right now. Have you ever thought of getting a small knife to carry with you everywhere you go just in case you ever might need it for something? And also, just mentioning that I've heard that if one were to be attacked by a dog supposedly the best target to aim for is a kick right in the nose of the attacking dog. Just mentioning. Please stay safe.

Amazing Wayne , you can speak Balinese language. Always pleasure to see your soothing videos.

Loving your content, and as an aside my Bahasa is improving rapidly.

For some it can be quite a bit to get their head around. Crazy bules. :)
Wayne, isn't it great the locals make the attempt to understand you. Keep up the good work.

The dogs are a thing and something people should be aware of.

Thanks, Stephen. There is a lot of pressure for young people to marry it seems. Cheers.

Gee the beaches are almost unusable with all the rubbish
It's much worse around the fishing villages that are close to the water.

It's just easier sometimes isn't it? I've had discussions with Indonesians, Nepalese etc trying to explain and it doesn't help. :)
Vid length is fine. Had Rabies shots shots for cycling bali and beyond. Was concerned a dog might nip me, but that never happened.

Try and explain how we aussies live....a lot of us live by ourselves.....yep 1 Person for 1 house.....🤯 So just say I live with friends
That could be one way.
Any IG we can follow along on Wayne?
No IG sorry, TJ.

Were you going to look for man with foot tattoo Wayne?
I'll try on the way back.
Look at the state of that beach, I would pay not to go there.
