  • Listen to various Beatboxer sound effects.
The term beatbox refers to the percussion of hip-hop. It consists in the art of reproducing drum sounds with the voice, mouth and nose. It also involves cackling, vocal imitation of DJs effects, simulation of horns, strings and other musical instruments, as well as other sound effects.
The Beatbox began in the ghettos of New York in the early 80's. The main diffuser of the art of imitating instruments with the mouth was Biz Marki, rappers of the old who was responsible for the release of Beatbox with the song "Vapors". But the first phenomenon was Doug E. Fresh, dubbed "Original Human Beatbox." One of their songs, "Ladi Di Da Di", was re-recorded by Snoop Dogg on their first album, Doggstyle. Another group of rap of the mid-80s that encouraged and publicized the practice of Beatbox, were the faces of the defunct Fat Boys. In the 90's, there was no one to represent the real Beatbox. To fill this gap, Rahzel appeared marking the evolution of the genre with the release of solo work "Make The Music 2000". The track "All I Know" is the best known - maybe because the guy imitates the voice of master James Brown and also because it is the only track that already has a clip. Known as The Godfather of Noyze, Rahzel is a member of The Roots and the first guy known after Doug E. Fresh, who has dedicated himself to perfecting the gift of imitating instruments and other sounds with his mouth.
