    Man, thank you so much for this video! C-town is kinda boring, but having lived there for 5 years it grew up on me. You brought back such good memories... And YES, bicycle is the way to go!

    Thank you so much for this video. Columbus is my old stomping ground. This was wonderful. You did a great job. The Columbus museum is also a great place to visit, but is probably not open. Thank you again.

    Nice tour JOM. It's great to see the spirit and actions of historic preservation combined with solid urban planning have thrived in Columbus, GA. Smart quality-of-life outdoor spaces enhancing economic development. It also reminds me of how air-conditioning season enhances the "covid quiet" aspect of 2020.

    I’m really enjoying these tours of the southern states. Watching other people explore is about all we can do from locked down Melbourne these days.

      Hi Matt, I'm originally from Adelaide, difficult to believe how things are in Melbourne at the moment. I hope Victoria comes out of this mess as soon as possible.

    The tours just keep on getting better, this one was packed full of good stuff! It's sad that builders nowadays do not build this way. The dental work on these homes are absolutely stunning. I'm surprised Coca-Cola doesn't own that house. There should be a cooler out front with FREE cans of Coke. Thanks again for taking us along. Stay safe Jason, hope to see you at an event sometime in the post-covid19 future. Keep the rubberside down out there.. Cheers from the Bluegrass State

      Mate, I'd be hitting up the Pembertown House non-stop if there was free Coke available haha. Appreciate the kind words, and agreed on your thoughts about construction in general.

    Great video of our hometown. Surprised you didn't mention Ride On Bikes on Broadway, the largest bike store in Georgia. Always fun to see a visitor's view of where you live. Thanks.

      Funnily enough, I've not visited that shop. If I've been in the vehicle, parking is difficult to find, probably best for me to ride there as I did with Brickyard.

    Was there an uptown pub named Kanon I believe? They made their own ales. I remembered that strip. When I played years ago for the orchestra, we used to go there during our visit to Columbus. Thx for the tour! Lots of good memories! Great videos, too!

    I lived in Columbus in 1964 while attending Auburn University. Sure looks different now! I also learned my first lesson in "let the buyer beware" there. At a used car lot not far from the entrance to Fort Benning I traded a fairly good car and a hunting bow for a small Harley Davidson motor cycle. It made it under its own power about 3 of the 4 miles back to my super cheap apartment. The last mile was hike a cycle. Went back to dealer and learned an early lesson in the school of hard knocks.

    When I started watching the video, I could have sworn I seen your white T-lab bike, then you focused on the Lefty fork, I had to rewind it and seen the "this tour was recorded over several days" annotation, and the penny dropped. Great tour once again - love to see so many interesting features, architecture, and history crammed into 1 video - I bet you have enough footage to make it last 40, or even 50 minutes.

    Love your tour of Columbus. My family is just up the road in Opelika and Auburn Al. If you ever make a little further up check out the loveliest village on the west plains. There are some gravel and dirt roads outside of both towns.

    Come check out Memphis. Southern charm, occasional violence, and a truly emerging bike city. Infrastructure is popping up everywhere. I’ll give you the grand bike tour.

      @GravelCyclist  4 роки тому

      You make it sound so appealing with the violence, yikes. I've been to Memphis, although it has been a while. If I ride there in the near future?, it will be a solo bike tour, nothing personal. With Covid-19, I'm not riding with anyone at the moment.
      Thanks for chiming in!

    I live up near Athens, GA. I have a couple of questions. 1. Was this recorded on a Sunday? I imagine weekdays have a lot more traffic. 2. How have you dealt with the heat and humidity? I bike early in the morning and late in the evening. I can't imagine biking through a southern city in August.
    Good series you have put together. And watch out for the gators on the bike paths.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  4 роки тому

      It was recorded over several days, Sunday was just one day.
      What is biking? Do you mean cycling? I ride (not bike, I'm a cyclist, a "biker" has a motor) early in the morning, late in the day, middle of the day, not a problem. If you hydrate appropriately, you can ride anytime.

      @@GravelCyclist I grew up riding a bicycle and we (under 10 year old kids) always said "Let's go bike! (or biking)". When I was that age if you told me I was "cycling" I would yell "I'm not a washing machine!" : )
      Cycling does sound more grown-up so I will make an effort to change my vocabulary.
      I prefer to ride in the early morning and late evening not only because it is nice and cool but also to see the wildlife.
