Of all the Boeing pilots I've seen talking about LNAV/VNAV, none have been this instructive. The way you just show exactly which buttons you push and what they do explained in simple terms is unmatched anywhere else on UA-cam. Thank you, Captain!
I landed at your channel by mere chance, and wo wo wow, you answered tons of questions and queries I had in my mind for years! Thank you so much captain for the enormous effort and patience with which you make these educational videos for the rest of us, aviation "enthusiasts".
This is the best explanation about Lnav and Vnav! Thank you Captain !!! Next time I would definitely prefer to sit at the copilot seat and help to set the gear up 😂
@@pilot_obet Oh I see now. Thank you for your good intentions. Right. It takes just a couple mins to climb to clean speed with gear-up. Amazing. I keep watching your videos again and again. It took me almost 1 year to understand what lnav and vnav is... And then, I came across this video and it really did cleared my doubt... 😀 Thank you soooooooooooooo much capt !
Wonderful video captain Obet! Loved your videos. Learn more pilots about B747 or another Boeing's too. You learn very well. This is very simple and easy to understand. I can only to say thank you. Thank you so much.
Great video explaining LNAV and VNAV from first person point of view but most impressive is you managing to get the aircraft off the ground (in the sim) and hold your camera at the same time
Nice explanations out here!! One question sir. Can the pilots set takeoff thrust by pushing the thrust levers manually to takeoff power setting, without pressing the TO/GA button? If yes, what would be the indications in the FMA?
Hello Captain, just wondering for most of the cases, once the aircraft took off, will the speed need to be built up first or the altitude? Which comes to your priority?? Thanks
Its sort of both. First though just after liftoff, you attain a climb out safety speed. Then you maintain this this until a specified altitude, usually 1000 feet before you start to accelerate to retract the flaps😊
@Pilot_obet: Just watching this video nth time :) and noticed that you didn't up the gears after positive climb and they remained down? Any specific reason ?
You can leave the gear for as long as you like. In this video, you will notice that I left the gear down. This was deliberate so that it would slow down the rate of climb for me to give the exploration
Why sometimes I see when the speed tape indicates say flaps 10, pilots start retract to flaps 5 instead? Is that different plane models have different procedures or depend on their airline companies flight rules?
Wow , i didn't know i could press altitude selector button on autopilot panel. I thought it's only possible in airbus... Well i guess this is the reason why autopilot didn't listen to me in vnav mod when dispatcher gave me a certain altitude.
Quite a number of times, we may need to takeoff with the APU providing air conditioning air to the packs. This allows greater thrust from the engines. This avails a higher takeoff weight. So APU is NOT always OFF for takeoff 😄

My pleasure😊
You ain't kidding, I've watched so many trying to learn and this guy is alwsome
Beautiful the digit movement on that mechanical altitude selector
I like the detailed view of the PFD from the pilots view on the ground and in air. That helps me with troubleshooting.

That was deliberate so that it climbs slower to allow me to explain the events as they happened, just like the tcas off.

Awesome video Sir 👍, just a question, why the pilot usually call out "LNAV" after gear up in Cathay Pacific?
Just standard operating procedures. Companies are different
This is super cool
Thanks
Was this adapted any NADP?
What happened to “Positive Rate”🤔
Hi Captain, Anand here, thanks for posting this video. For how long gears could be down after takeoff, will there be come kind of alarm ?

Why sometimes I see when the speed tape indicates say flaps 10, pilots start retract to flaps 5 instead? Is that different plane models have different procedures or depend on their airline companies flight rules?
Captain why was the TCAS OFF?
The subject was LNAV/ VNAV
Gear still down 😀
So just press the button not the v/s vertical speed button. To climb
Good video, you forgot to get the gear up!
I’ve explained why- I didn’t forget. 😊 thanks for your comment.
