I had problems with customers checks from one bank in particular. Four seperate parties that did business with us all had issues with their bank paying out personal checks to companies that provided services. Plumbing, lawn care, ect. We had a home maintenance company. For some reason the particular bank flagged all checks to these companies as possible fraudulant charge. It was a pain in the ars. Finally we went to cash or CC for people with that bank.
Ever since i started growing my company ive been getting so much anxiety it sucks so bad i cant get jobs done sometimes nd when i watch you guys it calms me down i think bc im growing fast like really fast its overwhelming

I haven't had issues with bounced checks but I have a few stragglers that know when I'm coming but I get that excuse oh i don't get paid until fri so what I'm gonna start doing is text the 2 a day ahead of service so I'll know to cut or skip them.
Nick, i had a client who check cleared my bank and then was retracted. now here is how i handled the situation.the check was retracted on a wednesday and i do service on a Thursdays. they are very good clients of mine. i showed up to the house to do the service. i didnt unload anything and walked up to the door and knocked. both my clients are wheelchair bound. so thier nephew answered the door i ask if i could speak to them. they both came to the door. i simply asked them if they were happy with the service i was doing? they replied no i was doing a great job. So i stated i had an issue with the last check was retracted and that i wanted to make sure it wasnt for poor service. they said no both thier accounts had money stolen from them and had to be shutdown. (now my bank charged me 25 for the retraction) i let that slide as i make way more then that on weekly service and they do refer me to other people. just remind people its not always they dont have the money. sometime stuff happens.

That is why you are successful. Most people would flip on situations like that ,but you were professional and that is why you get referred. Love your point of view on how you DC onto know what people are going thru . Cause they could truly be having a really bad day and by you being calm it helps everybody.

Sometimes my debit card declines when I have plenty of money in my account. I've had to go to the ATM and get the money out, it's so embarrassing when this happens. I guess It's some kind of security feature.

I have a very uncommon name. I dealt with a bank who also had a customer with a name close to mine. You would think that this day and age, it would all go by account numbers. I have had to call this bank NUMEROUS times to tell them that they had deposited, into my account, a check that belonged to someone else. It wasn't a large check, always a little under 500. It wasn't my money though. I am sure the guy was missing his money, and probably had checks bouncing because he thought that he had deposited his money into HIS account, not mine. It is not me to keep another person's money. It happened so often that people would tell me to just keep it. I can't do that. It was obviously a paycheck. So, yeah, it can happen. I could have been on the other end where it was my paycheck and my checks bouncing. It is hard to believe, but it does happen, so being professional is the best way to do business. Mistakes do happen !!
My own bank misplaced a deposit of over $10,000.00 once and we had to provide the receipt from the teller we made it with. Banks screw up, staying professional in those situations is key!
My boss called KW Products on Monday morning and said "I went on a hell of a drunk and drank a whole can of BLOCK SEAL, what should I do?" The lady replied, it plugged you up real good (LOL).. I had cards expire and the replacement was lost or never arrived (it happens)

How I ran out of money and lost my business= - too much money on the street. Next time , I cut your lawn or do your service , I swipe my tablet next to your name and your cc gets billed that moment. By Friday I have a check from the cc company minus their 1-3 % in my account. Money on the street is a death sentence for a business especially a maintenance business. I had 33k out since I billed monthly and not fast enough on install jobs that didn't need any money up front. Since I had to borrow to pay my workers and maintain my business , that 33k is no longer 33k...it's about 40 after several weeks and months even more.
I had problems with my old bank doing the same thing. Id have money in the bank and they would bounce the check. After like the 4x I switched banks. It makes me look bad...and them worse. Because id make them type me up an letter saying they would remove the bounce check fee and that there was a mistake on their end as I had money in the bank. That way I could send a copy to the place it bounced that way they knew it wasnt my fault. Alot of places these days on the 1st time a check bounces they will no longer take one from you again. I like to keep that option open. Anyway just stating its happend to me before.
I had the same problem with Banks if your account was getting low they would deduct the $25 first for the bounced check then say your overdrawn. Or if we had multiple checks come in at once they would bounce them all because by the time the money was withdrawn and 4-5 charges of $25 we would be overdrawn. I cured that by getting the hell out of the bank and went to a credit union, been 10 years now and 0 issues, best move I ever made

Even had them hold a deposit and never informed me, when I asked why we were overdrawn with that amount of money in the account they said I should have known they had the right to hold a check because there was a sticker on the drive-thru window that said it. It was just to much I left

However, every once every few months they decide who doesn't get paid. It's weird the money is in the account and they won't allow the transaction to go through. They have no explaination for it. So now I watch my accounts like a hawk awaiting for the bank to drop the ball. So it's good you keep calm and professional about it. Nick great video, just one thing I wouldn't store the fire extinguisher in the closet. You should really mount it on a wall in the garage just in case you need it or your wife or anyone. Just my opinion, I hope this serves you well.

I have ONE customer, exactly ONE that chooses to pay me the same day I service his lawn. EVERY OTHER CUSTOMER gets a bill once a month. I've never.....................EVER not been paid. Perhaps some other aspect of your business needs to be addressed if you're so concerned about getting screwed, huh?
