@@stevesomach oh ok. According to the map of the northeast... sharp shined hawks are reported to be the most plentiful , of the 3 acipiters. In my experience as a former homing pidgeon owner ... noone could prove that by me. I had more than 50 pigeons that were killed by birds of prey. Among those 6 were killed by barred owls that got into their enclosure at night. The rest were all killed by coopers hawks, I believe. Each one was carried away from the kill site, into the woods to be plucked and consumed on top of an old tree stump. Since sharp shinned hawks are generally not large enough to carry a 12 oz.. pigeon...then I am guessing they were not them. By far the ones I have seen have been cooper hawks.
