- Luc Lemay's String Trio was commissioned for the annual Composer's Forum at Bishop's University in Lennoxville, QC . It was performed on March 25th 2018 by:
Anastasia Virlan, violin,
Bojana Milinov, viola,
Ioav Bronchti, cello
What I love, is you see that the feeling of Gorguts extends beyond the genre of death metal. Luc's unique vision can be applied to many forms. He's a very special artist.
Luc could be composing music for video games , this has a vibe like Dark Souls or Shadow of the Collossus.
I know Luc is a master woodworker and such, but damn seeing his name grace a cinematic score would seem such a natural progression of things for him. Many kudos, bravo, bravissimo.
people who say this needs blast beats and some vocals dont understand whats going on here. No people this is not death metal classical version. This is just music. Enjoy it as it is and stop trying to remix it in your head.
The battle of Chamdo man. One of my fav pieces. Love gorguts but ppl who listen to gorguts fail to understand he is once fucking amazing musician.
who says that
ashraf pasha Exactly. Style and presentation is the wrapping paper while the concepts underlying the piece is the gift within.
Honestly this string piece is 10 times Bette than battle of chamdo , it came to me as overly dramatic and cliché and whenever I hear it while laying the álbum I skip it , because it doesn't go with the vibe of the álbum , using east asian street instrumentantion or better south east asian would have made it much better.
🤯🤯🤯 This is amazingly beautiful !!!
Wow, pretty dark, especially now a days. Yay Mr. Lemay! It was beautiful!
Just like Gorguts' music-great piece. Love the intensity of it and the metal feel to it.
Excellent mec !
Ah, I'm loving the Bela Bartok in this one, especially in the heavy "breakdown".
Luc should start an avant-prog band a la classic Univers Zero/Present/Art Zoyd.
Totally ! I remember asking Luc on myspace like over 10 years ago if he'd heard UNIVERS ZERO and PRESENT. Was thinkin same thing back then.
Oh damn did he?
Mind Intellect Increase 1000%...Luc Is A Living Legend
I've dabbled with classical music in the past. Really enjoy hearing this piece from Luc.
Luc Lemay - the musical genius!
my dad is a friends of luc lemay
This is beautiful. I hope to hear more compositions come to life on the stage.
This is absolutely incredible. I need more of this!
Very nice Luc, thanks!
C'est excellent Luc. Sublime!
Absolutely beautiful! I love this composition...so alive and full of emotion. Thank you xoxox
Ugghhhh when that theme at 0:44 from the violin solo comes back as a call and response in the cello and viola at 8:13 I think my heart sank. He is able to bring the dark and evil sounds of metal and transfer them effortlessly to strings in a way like no composer I've ever heard.
Sounds like sick boss music for bloodborne
Luc, is there any other place where we can hear your non-metal compositions? I love this piece.
Excellente composition. J'adore
moi aussi
Luc, are you going to post any of your older compositions? If I remember correctly you had a few with flute
Vibes of Schoenberg. I like it
Hearing some nods to Penderecki as well
You gotta mention Alban Berg too.
UrsaMajor Yea, the part that starts around 2:45 sounds almost like something from Lyric Suite
Also reminds me of the early quartets of Ligeti.
A lot of Bela Bartok as well.
Could be a prelude to The Battle of Chamdo... SVP Luc, un disque de tes compositions classiques!
Penderecki, Bartok, Lemay..that's it.
Any way to get my hands on the score for this?
This is one of the most evil compositions I've ever heard
A real Shostakovich vibe here
seems like the primary theme of his classical stuff is just “anxiety”. this sounds like a panic attack
all it needs is some blast beats and you got yourself a brand new gorguts masterpiece
Would be interesting to hear a metal cover of this song. It's obviously fine the way it is, but I can't help but wonder how well it would translate into death metal
Luc is the live reincarnation of Arnold Schoenberg.
