Seriously, i'm not a gamer but lets be real. A 13 year old who beats a game that has never been beaten for over 30 years? Not even that he is 13. Even if it was a 60 year old. He beat a game that nobody has beaten in 30 years??? Yeah he deserves an award. That deserves respect. 100%.
It makes me so angry and I'm not even a gamer. It's not just her arrogance, it's the fact that she used her powerful platform, in front of a national TV audience, to literally bully a child, and a child who is still grieving the loss of his father, too. What makes all of this even more despicable is that she's the patron of a charity for disabled kids, and their professed aim is to help inspire those disabled kids strive to achieve their goals! And to top it off, she's been tweeting praise for a 16 year old darts player! I mean, well done to that young man for reaching his level at such a young age, but the hypocrisy of this woman is f'ing outrageous.
"Video games aren't real" The vitriol in the older generation is genuine and real, to deny that many of them loathe the younger generations is a folly that cannot be forgiven. They hate us because they were told we'd cure their cancer, build them hover/flying cars, send them to space, etc. The reality they got doesn't fit with the grandoise lies they were fed as youth and now they blame us for failing their impossible wants. There are people out there who actively sabotage the system to prevent people coming in after them and benefiting from it, they are real and many of them don't even hide it.
This is is the worst karen i ever seen. this guy is bullying this 13 year old kid.this woman didn't even make a world record of doing anything.bruhh this woman must be fired from the news show.full respect to this 13 year old legend.💯💯💯

The kid not only broke a world record, but also accomplished something that professional competitive Tetris players have been trying to do since an A.I. was created to discover just how many levels there were in the original game. He LITERALLY is the first living person to actually accomplish something only previously done by a computer specifically programmed to play the game perfectly.
EDIT: I clearly was wrong, enough people made claims so I went to watch the hype and im happy to admit I was wrong Did he though, wouldn't be hard to live stream an AI bot playing it then just pretend by dropping the controller on stream then freaking out lol, anyone would believe he did it right as its not like they'd ask him to repeat it, smart kid if thats the avenue he took, even smarter if he actually did it lol but im not sold
@mickyr171 so you think a 13-year-old has the time and resource to cheat that way? We were all 13 once, I think he's more likely to fall into the lore rather than exploit the system for personal gain.
I love how everybody is like "it's not a life goal, he's just 13!!" The problem with that is that it definitely could be. Hundreds of MILLIONS of people have tried for 40 YEARS to beat this game, and he finally did it. That's a life goal if I've ever heard one. and the fact she has the audacity to make fun of him when they are praising somebody OLDER doing something FAR less difficult on the SAME DAY is despicable.
I should say that no one actually tried hard enough until 2018. And even then it was few players with crazy button smash speed. Until new controller grip technique was invented in 2021 which made competition scene more accessible for thousands and thousands of players.
And then it still took 2 years to beat it after the new grip, and 6 years since people started trying. It doesnt change the accomplishment at all, if thats whqt you were implying@@asdbanz316
We're just going to brush past the fact this kid just lost his father as well? I cant imagine the range of emotions this dude has been going through. He deserves all the praise in the world.
I hope his mother and the rest of the world reck her for her callousness and blatant disregard for the accomplishment of a child. As a mother of a 14 year old gamer.. I say STFU!! Don't diminish his achievements like that!! He achieved something, that's considered unachievable in the gaming community, and he deserves to feel proud of himself.. the worst part is knowing he lost his dad recently. And playing video games has probably helped to keep his mind occupied while he deals with his grief.. and what a way to do it!! This kid beating Tetris, whilst going through what is probably the hardest thing he has ever had to go through in his life is incredible, and it's probably helped him in ways we can't understand. Congrats lil dude 😎
Exactly! I played the online version on switch and just love it, I say congrats to this kid it’s an amazing achievement. He’s definitely the cool kid at school now lol
If I told my child to "go outside and touch grass" I'd be a terrible father. I'd risk my child to be kidnapped with or without supervision, even in the back yard.
Just because someone didn't have the opportunity to stream/record themselves beating this game, DOES NOT mean the game has gone unbeaten by a human since 1984. Hot shame all over the face of anyone that thinks/says otherwise. EDIT: This is a foolish statement that was made without any knowledge of existing efforts to achieve this goal and made in haste - please realize that when you read this, this is a comment that was made under an old and wrong mindset and I have since had my opinion changed by Hyperlingualism.
I don't give a damn what ANYONE SAYS, That kid reflexes is godly... not only is his processing of where to place the blocks, he recalls the number of button presses needed to flip and place the blocks. That's insane! I want to see someone beat the game without knowing which block is next...
The kid definitely deserved the freak out he had from achieving something deemed as impossible 40 years after it came out. It is beyond just impressive
anyone who accomplishes something really good is warranted to freak out. There's no feeling better than removing all the stress you've been building up nearing the completion of such achievement
As someone whose born and raised in England, it really ticks me off how this country shames anyone for showing an ounce of creativity or doing anything that isn't seen as normal and our news and media is 1000% to blame for this
I am so tired of the stigma that achievements in video games aren't valid. This kid is not a 'loser', he managed to accomplish something that even adults couldn't do. He clearly put a lot of time, effort and skill into something he was passionate about and he fulfilled his goal.
Screw the stigma. People enjoy different things. I don't care for a lot of things other people do care about that doesn't mean they aren't valid. As long as you aren't hurting others you are free to pursue whatever goals you like and do whatever makes you happy because at the end of the day that's all that matters.
I'm tired of ANYONE being called a, "loser." Everyone's on a personal journey and guess what... YOU DON'T KNOW WHY WE'RE HERE. Someone you imagine is a, "loser," could be doing way more than you think (the shorthand being to imagine 'NEO' from 'The Matrix', utterly dropping out of the status-quo traditional existence to save fking humanity. Achievements mean nothing on their own. This kid accomplished absolutely nothing but completing something designed purely to waste time. He mastered wasting time, great. Can he cure cancer? Can he do literally anything useful to humanity? No, and in the time he spent learning how to do this worthless task that he's now completed for no reason, he probably missed out on learning a lot of things that COULD have contributed to humanity.

The insane thing is that just yesterday(edit: 2 days ago 1/3/24 by fractal161) a 2nd person did it. They were both racing to complete it and the margin was within a few days of one another.
A couple months ago he won $1,000 for finishing 3rd at the Tetris World Championships, and he was streaming live on twitch when he beat the game so that probably made some money. It's not exactly massive amounts of money but it is something, especially for a literal 13 year old
My brother died and I couldn't do anything.... This kid is OG and so kind to dedicate his win to his father. I am gonna dedicate my achievement to him. That kid is awsome ❤
3 reasons she's wrong: 1) The game being unbeatable due to how it is programmed and that being true for around 40 years is pretty damn impressive. This young man has done what was previously thought impossible. His upper threshold is pretty much limitless. 2) This is the first person IN THE WORLD to beat the unbeatable. He's accomplished more than most of us ever will. He's also 13, which means he has time to do so much more. As opposed to the middle-aged nobody news anchor criticizing him for accomplishing something. 3) Considering how many hours he has likely put into mastering the game, that's an incredible amount of dedication to something. Imagine that today, that kid said to himself "y'know, Tetris was fun, but I've accomplished all I can with it," and decided to move onto something bigger and better. Maybe he sets the next speedrun record in Super Mario Brothers or increases the efficiency and expands the kind of materials that can be recycled. Again, his upper threshold basically doesn't exist and he'll be riding that high for months, at the very least. You tell me if someone that motivated is going to squander it on a flash in the pan. Imagine being so discontented with life that you have to punch down at someone who has already achieved greater notoriety than you, and you're a media personality. This literal child makes that news anchor so insecure that she feels she needs to beat him down. Imagine being that pathetic.
I don't support her at all, but she was not insecure, that statement is way off. She simply doesn't think kids should stay inside and play on screens as opposed to going outside. She's a "go touch some grass" kind of mother, and likely doesn't understand the value of videogame achievements.
@@AHeartBrokenGuy No, she has nothing against kids looking at screens, but tetris doesn't push their woke propaganda like their fake news and recent games. How is that kid going to become a transgender if he's playing tetris? He must play something new, which has a gay agenda.
These people are ridiculous. A 13 year old beating a once thought impossible game (which has been thought of as humanly impossible for 40 years) is an incredibly impressive feat and is probably more impressive than anything she has done
Remove the "probably" hahah, because the 13 year old is absolutely insane at what he's doing, there's no way the women could have done anything better lol
She didn't just insult the kid but the entire scene. His achievement was the community's achievement, built upon years and years of developed technique and incredible dedication. Everything they've done, they did out of their heart and soul. Unlike a mindless, script regurgitating anchor.
Love how she's like "as a mother" As a father, congratulations kiddo, funnily enough my parents support me playing video games competitively. Would love to think what the kids think of their mum right now

Women do know nothing better but please themselves at the expense of others. If you have to be reminded this fact by this year you are so lost in space.
Yes!! She has no idea what it's like for a child to lose a parent. My son is 13 and lost his dad 2 years ago. This young man should be very proud and hopefully can use this achievement to help him heal.
He should sue Sky News, like Sky News Sued Hello Games for the Audacity that they used the word "SKY" in "No Man's Sky", for hate crimes against gamers. Seriously they must have something against games.

He literally did something that for the last almost 40 years we had deemed humanly impossible. PLUS it's so heartfelt that he dedicated his win to his dad who had passed away recently. She's just jealous.
She is the kind of mom who would tell her children "Drawing isn't a live goal, stop wasting your time instead of studying for school" after they show her a drawing they has been working on for weeks and feel very proud of, only to have their creativity crushed by their souless parents.
@@pylotheric9777 Yes at certain levels (I don't remember what level but it's within 155-158) when you get a one line completion the game will freeze and thats called the true killscreen and the game actually ends with level 255 with a lot of glitches that can be encountered, if level 255 is beaten you go to level 0 again
As a mother myself, yes I would want my kids to go outside. But that doesn't make this kid's achievement any less special. Especially when he dedicate this all to his deceased father. He lost his dad at 13!! When his dad was only 39!!! I'm much older than this kid and I will be so broken when my parents leave me. I can only imagine how hard it is for this kid. I also love how she has to emphasize it was only a win by technically. Screw you, a win's a win lady. Sorry you're so bad at hiding your jealousy.
Yeah whats sad is that 'technicality' took entire groups of others to figure out though trial and error with the base code of the game, figuring out physical manipulation of the controller and combining it to get this achievement. Many others tried and failed for years, this kid did it! Other gamer's stopped their own attempts to watch this kid in real time! Its a really fascinating tale of Man vs Machine.
She is probably salty that this kid has achieved more by the time he was 13 than she has in her 40s and probably ever will in the rest of her life. He literally did something no one has achieved in 40 years and was thought to be impossible.
Bro you are giving thus too much credit. If the controversy only gets remembered in a 2 years let alone a couple of weeks she’s going to be forgotten by so much people

She's supposed to represent Sky News, not her own personal beliefs. No one asked her to bring up the "mother" card and honestly, it's unnecessary. She should have just stuck to reporting the facts and kept her opinions to herself.
Yeah, she should have kept her mouth shut because she can't even understand how monumental this achievement is. Don't judge a book by it's cover because what it actually is may be far greater than you first thought.
She's a narcissist dude, one of those evil people who literally cannot care about other people unless they twist their own perception of the person into being a little version of them and even then some of these people hate copies of themselves like their own children (my mother is a good example of this character type) We've let these absolute monsters crawl into every nook and cranny of the working world and it's seeped through everything and rotted all the good in the world into bad. The denial people have, kidding themselves that every person is born equal, and that every person is morally good by default is so insane. A lot of people are born plain evil at birth, worse is when they are born with the incapability of caring for another living being.
Not only did she belittle his accomplishment, but she also disrespected that boy’s father since that win was dedicated to him. He made his mark in history unlike this woman. Nobody will remember or care about who she was while this boy’s name will forever be remembered. Can’t get that by touching grass.
I doubt his name will be remembered. He did beat the game, and it was hard. No one is disagreeing on this, but it's not something that people will remember in the future. As an adult who played video games all his life and now I'm a physician, I find hardcore gamers like this some of the most underappreciated people in the world. The amount of tenacity and dedication it takes to do this is astounding. When this kid grows up and has any job, he will carry with him resiliency and a drive to win. He's going to be a great success at anything he tries. He should be celebrated
Why not apply this resiliency and drive towards the right things, right from the very beginning...instead of Tetrix? Some kids are already big business owners, because they worked at their goals right from a very young age. Video games can indeed train your focus and resiliency, but it also kind of waste all of your drive and resiliency onto completely meaningless virtual realities. It means a lot subjectively, but it also means nothing in terms of objective reality.
@@zanaros2606 Bruh, it's not your job to go around telling people exactly what they should be doing with their life at what age. Mind your own business and don't diminish people's accomplishments just because you don't personally see the value of them.

@@Miccat87 I'm not diminishing their achievements, lol. And I doubt any normal person can even achieve what this Tetrix kid did. But on the other hand I'm also stating the other side of the truth, which complements the truth that it is indeed a tremendous achievement as well. There are always two sides to everything in reality. I simply like to think of all sides. Rather than just take the camp of either: I support, or I demean this kid, etc.
Even the person he challenged to reach this goal stopped his stream while he was working towards the goal just to wait and see if Scudi would make it. He, without hesitation, willingly sacrificed his attempt to follow his chat as they relayed Scudi's progress. Then got excited for him when he found out he did it. This was a major accomplishment. One that's placed him in the record books FOR LIFE and he deserves his due respect.
The community of gamers that do records in general are a bunch of great people, they take very seriously keeping things clean and fair. The never allow cheaters and crack down on them hard, and always praise sincere and hard-fought achievements. Whenever I see a child so dedicated to a cause and actually achieving it, regardless of what it is, is impressive to me. I think for me it gives a lot of hope of the indomitable human spirit.
Gamers are constantly being harassed for the most mundane activities. Tetris helps the brain function more vividly. I was thinking that the woman had no sense of logic. She clearly was missing the lines.
She would tell anyone who plays video games to “go outside” but likely hasn’t done anything outside in years and spends the day watching TV, a passive activity.

R.I.P your brother
People who put down other people's happiness are the worst. If anyone needs to step away from the screen it's her.
3 reasons she's wrong:
1) The game being unbeatable due to how it is programmed and that being true for around 40 years is pretty damn impressive.
I wouldn't say beating tetris means he's accomplished what most of us would do in our life. Buh I do agree with everything else u said
I don't support her at all, but she was not insecure, that statement is way off. She simply doesn't think kids should stay inside and play on screens as opposed to going outside. She's a "go touch some grass" kind of mother, and likely doesn't understand the value of videogame achievements.

What really bothers me about this is that she had a prewritten script but still felt the need to deviate from it to make the news personal.
A lot of people are born plain evil at birth, worse is when they are born with the incapability of caring for another living being.
she probably cant even get to level 9...
It's not an important piece of history. However, the news anchor who talked about him may be more well-known and remembered, as she mentioned him. Perhaps he will be mentioned in the future because of her mention of him, and the incident.
@@sjlee100it's not all about society. It can be a contribution to the community which will be remembered, which in turn makes his name memorable. You don't go around and see a scientist talk about the famous "Rendezook", but when you come across gamers who have played the game and understood then they will show that they recognize it. Social media outlets are just there to talk about topics but in reality, it's the community formed that remembers.
TL;DR - Society-based achievement ≠ Community-basef achievement
Even better; her name will only be remembered in reference to her being a bitch to this kid. She flushed her own reputation permanently.
@@sjlee100This is not a record that can be beat. It's not about time or score. He beat TETRIS. One of the most legendary games to ever exist. He WILL be remembered until humanity dies out

That reporter should get fired and shouldn't be let to another channel anywhere.
Bruh imagine her commenting here trying to tell everyone to buzz off 💀
She's put a target on her. Not only did she mock a kid but a kid that beat a game that no one has ever beat in honor of his father that passed away. She needs to apologize or no one will respect her
As a dad, if my son did the first thing completely unthinkable on a 40 year old game, I'd be grabbing him and jumping up and down with joy for his accomplishment, no matter his age.

He's better at it than i ever was. Congratulations kid
That’s actually incredible. That kid is amazing.
It means a lot subjectively, but it also means nothing in terms of objective reality.
especially geometry dash players man we go really un appreciated. the top levels in geometry dash takes an unimaginable amount of time and effort
@@zanaros2606 Bruh, it's not your job to go around telling people exactly what they should be doing with their life at what age. Mind your own business and don't diminish people's accomplishments just because you don't personally see the value of them.
Exactly! People like this boy are showcasing how hella efficient and determined they can be in the right environment while doing something they love or have decided to dedicate time towards. If or once he decides to place that attention onto something more "important" in the critic's eyes, he'll be going far in his achievements.
WOW
THERE is an actual decent human being!
@@Ramsey276one Games are meant to be fun. I wish more people agreed on this.
I LOVED Fractal’s reaction! He was so happy and excited for Scuti despite being in direct competition (maybe more excited than if he got it first).
Yeah the games records and speed-running communities are usually some of the most wholesome places on the internet.
The community of gamers that do records in general are a bunch of great people, they take very seriously keeping things clean and fair.
The never allow cheaters and crack down on them hard, and always praise sincere and hard-fought achievements.
This kid a perfect example of the later, and deserves all the respect, tenfold even for the fact that he did this while grieving for his father too.
Belittling teenagers for accomplishing something that no one has ever done before is not a life goal. Step away from my screen.

Its so odd, a lot of games do make people use their brains as well, far better than just watching TV or videos.
people never understand how video games are great ways to have a good time alone or with friends, especially with all the great games out now
Yeah playing video games can enhance reaction time, plus playing Tetris will have more benefits to the brain
missing the *LINES*
Time will go on and there will always be a community that will remember this child’s name. He has made history and is immortalized with so much more life to go. Meanwhile this reporter will have been forgotten. He’s doing what kids do at 13. Playing games.
What a happy person the news anchor must be.
As a teacher, I absolute despise this kind of adult. You should never look down on people who put effort into their passion. Let alone creating history.
Shame on you.
I'm disappointed old lady.
She is probably also the kind who thinks that playing games like GTA turns people into brutal mass shooters... Which can be true for less than 0,001% of the population (as their hobby feed their psychopathic impulses to begin with), but is still mostly false
@@nozoto If I'm going to be absolutely blunt, it's almost always the parents and their environment growing up. Kids learn from observing behaviour of people around them much more than following verbal orders. That's why leading by example is usually a better choice of raising children.

I was into gaming at a time when it wasn't cool and was for the nerdy kids. I got picked on for being into video games. ALL of the adults treated me worse than this lady with few exceptions.
It warms my heart to see the tables have flipped.
It’s kind of funny, because the first gamers were all adults - and most of the earliest games wasn’t made with kids as the target consumer…
Feel that man, my family are okie with me playing games as long as I do chores, but my mom's siblings treated me as a useless child and I always got picked on as "don't be like that kid" or sometimes, they always blame me for their children playing games (their children find the game on their own btw, I didn't do sheet) 😂

I felt like it wasn’t his goal to beat Tetris, but to make his father proud, what a legend!
What gets me is the smug little smile and the giggle, like she's so proud of her own imagined wit and superiority. She also completely ignores Willis' dedication of the moment to his dad, who died just before Christmas, probably because she knew that if she mentioned it, she couldn't insult the kid on live TV as comfortably.
Oh, and know what makes the darts player thing even better? They praised him for placing second in a championship. And while that is impressive, I can't get over how they think a 16-year-old being really good at darts is more worthy of admiration than a 13-year-old getting the killscreen in a 40-year-old game that humanity as a whole was certain a human being could never beat.
