I live in a smallish town near San Diego, and during the riots there were armed citizens guarding the businesses in the town. Between that a the Sheriffs, we had zero destruction and literally only peaceful protests. That was not true of nearby areas. I like the song and it’s true, when you have a real community, people take care of each other.

HE didn't even write the song. The producers of the video picked out the location and all the shots. A lot of people came together to make that video. This is a true song. That violence should not have ever happened in any town. - "Try That in a Small Town" is a song written by Kelley Lovelace, Neil Thrasher, Tully Kennedy, and Kurt Allison, and recorded by American country music singer Jason Aldean. It was released to country radio in May 2023 as the lead single to Aldean's upcoming eleventh studio album. The song and its music video were condemned by some media, critics, and artists who considered the lyrics to be violent, have racist implications, and promote lynching. Aldean rejected this interpretation.

The vast majority of Americans don't support political thugs, or self serving predators, violently attacking innocent people and communities so they will of course understand Jason's message. As usual a small minority of noisy political ideologues, the ones who profit from political violence (meaning gain power), are attempting to silence Jason by calling him a "racist"; a tactic which works on some but not courageous, independent minded people like Jason.
BTW, attempting to bully with name calling is the behavior we expect from children, not adults. They are pathetic, and best ignored.

Also, let's not forget that Jason was on stage performing at the 2017 Harvest Festival show in Vegas when all the shooting started! Luckily he and his band escaped injury unlike so many innocent people. So for many reasons, small town living is a way of life for him. I really appreciate hearing your opinion on this matter and I have to say, your channel as well as countless others I have seen all have the intelligence and common sense to see the message that's being portrayed here. My small town is very diverse, both racial and tax brackets. We trade vegetables from our gardens, give fish from the lake, help rebuild each other’s houses after hurricanes….that’s just how we operate. I can leave my property know that there are eyes and ears on it at all times. We look after each other. It isn’t black or white. It isn’t left or right. It’s wrong and right. We say what we mean and mean what we say. All this song is saying is not to bring violent nonsense to our town or phone calls will be made and there will be black, white, and Hispanic men coming out of the woods to “welcome”you……(probably some women too. Lol )If you’re cool, we’ll make you some ice tea. If you ain’t cool, we’ll deal with you in Jesus name. That’s it.

He is just trying to make things better. We are all people and no matter what we need to stand with each other and if things get crazy in your are with others trying to destroy what others worked their lives to create amd have then help your fellow man or women.

I like the idea of people helping one another when they need it - my preference would be that it didn't come with the underlying threats and the "our own" qualification of those that you'd be there for. The music/vocals were terrific. And, btw, I'm not for censorship in any way, so barring it from platforms, etc., is un-American as far as I'm concerned. PS I didn't see this as racist, at all, however - although I'd heard that too. This was my first listen/look-see as well.

As far as I know the race issue was all of the riots that were in the video where from BLM riots which made those people mad and they are the ones that are calling it racist cuz of that. which I think that's absolutely wrong.. It was a great video and a great message. especially if you live in a small town like me you completely understand the whole concept and those pictures that you saw with people with guns downtown and protecting the city was from my actual hometown.. We actually had threats of people from Oregon and Seattle Washington coming down and threatening to destroy our town we had over 10,000 people in arms downtown to protect the city and making sure that no one even put a mark on a stone why the riots were going on we still had a peaceful protest at the capital's some people were speaking out and singing we a prayer at the end and then everybody went home peacefully and if you wonder where the police were they were protecting the smaller towns outside the city why everybody else was protecting the main city that's also what the songs about. In small cities and small towns everybody has everybody's back to protect everybody's hardwork and businesses.

Cause the courthouse he’s in front of a 18 yr old boy was lynched there in 1927 in Georgia which he probably knew nothing about. It’s used in a lot of movies and videos.

My opinion as a Kurdish person is that this is a great song and video. I did not hear or see anything that was towards any particular race. It seems that the only people that should be offended are criminals and those that support them. As Kurds we are a close community and will defend our selves and our communities from all looking to harm us and that is similar to what I got from this song. These criminals and Antifa wouldn’t have a chance in my homeland. We not allow anyone to burn or disrespect our flag as that represents us and would be an attack on our culture. I love the United States and hope the best for its future

Violent like that happens in cities and not in small towns is because you know your neighbors. There will definitely be repercussions for your actions. In a city you have anonymity, so you can act the fool and nobody will hold you responsible for your actions. So it will continue until the mobs are dealt with.

Big cities could learn a lot for us. We don't have a problem with racism, we don't see color, everyone is the same. We will give you the shirt off our backs, help you anyway we can. Just don't cross us, that's when the trouble starts. Loved your opinions and comments on the video.

My mom was raised in a small town of under 350 people. But after she grew up she moved away. I always lived in larger areas. Whenever, as a child, she would drag us to her "home" town to visit relatives. I can tell you that I always dreaded those visits. What he says in the song "We protect our own" especially was unsettling to me. My relatives, in the small town of Leakey, Texas, always saw us (my brothers and me) as outsiders. Even though we were genetically family we were never one of them. They were also bullies and very racist. I was always taken aback and alarmed at the things they would say. My grandmother openly let one of my cousins daughters bully my daughter. That's when I never went back to visit any of them. And I still hold resentment to this day even though she's been dead almost 20 years. I think that's why this song raises tensions in people.

What this boils down to is simple facts. This happens in the city and they (governing officials) turn a blind eye. If this were to happen in the smaller surrounding towns, these "peaceful protestors" would have to deal with the citizens that have invested their lives in their community to make it a great place to live, work, socialize, and raise their children. They will do whatever it takes to defend and maintain what they have worked so hard for. It is not about race. It is about protecting your community. Anyone who twists it into something else - well - BLESS YOUR HEART! I"LL PRAY FOR YOU.
