    Thanks for sharing Mark, you put out some really good videos on UA-cam which are clear and easy to follow.

    I've got an original Lyons clarinet, the predecessor of these. Used as a jamming instrument, taken round muddy festival fields and generally abused. It's a brilliant tool.. I love how it comes out of the case ready to play, rather than having to be assembled every time like a normal clarinet. It's been rained on several times and dropped with no damage, both of which would be big trouble for a normal clarinet.

      Love this story. I have no reason to get one. Playing in the key of C sounds awful. I have real clarinets, a classic soprano sax and even a classic sopranino which is used in my Fbk profile photo BUT … for all the reasons you wrote, I bought the cute little blue and white Nuvo J Sax and I just ordered the clarinao. No worries. Having fun with an instrument that can end up in the swimming pool, won’t misalign and plastic reeds that won’t chip. What a release of tension. And so light. Me happy🤴🏾🎷

    What the clarineo has is something similar to the much-rarer Albert system in the pinky keys, though it retains the Boehm system in the rest of the fingering.

    I thought I would give a bit of advice as to the way you play. The clarinet seems a bit too far out away from your body, I would try to keep it almost straight down. Don't forget to make sure your feed is very moist before you play and you are doing very well for being self taught. (: ((I'm mainly a bassoon player but I also play clarinet and saxophone on the side))

      I’m very late on this but usually you’d play clarinet with it far out, it improves the sound as you aren’t chin down

    Mark, good video. Did you take lessons on the clarinet? How long have you been playing? I just got the Clarineo. Seems like I'll have to take lessons to get the embouchure right. Did you hear that you can use a regular Eb mouthpiece with this? Thanks for doing the video.

    • @markwooding1354

      Hi, Thanks for the comment.
      I've not been playing long at all, I'm self taught from books and youtube videos.
      I think it would be a good idea to have a few lessons with a proper teacher to make sure the embouchure is right and to learn correct technique (as I plan to do!)
      I'm not sure about the Eb mouthpiece though, sorry.
      Mark

      Did it take awhile to gt the embouchure? I can get a sound, but it does NOT sound like a clarinet. :)

      A little while yes. At first I couldn't even get any sound out of it.

    Hi Mark...great demo, thanks! Sorry to hear you had probs with your order. Seems there were things missing. Each Clarineo is packed at the factory with a complete fingering chart and 2 plastic reeds. Did you buy second hand? I will happily send you a few reeds and a fingering chart. Contact me thro Nuvo website.

    hi, i've just bought a clarinéo and i've so much trouble playing notes frm the middle and high register.. no problem with the low register, but it's very difficult, when not impossible, with upper notes. I've played saxophone for 5 years and the embouchure is very similar, but yet, i'm vry surpised by the difficulty i have in the middle and high regsiter. Did you have the same kind of problem when you started ?

  • @AlanSturgess
    @AlanSturgess 9 років тому +1

    About £95.00 for anyone who's interested.
    As for the sound - I wasn't too keen. The LittleSax sounds better for anyone looking for a cheap but unusual 'woodwind' instrument.

      Just bought a jsax. Great sound but very limited range. Their clarinet has a full range the jsax has one and half

  • @camelCased
    @camelCased 5 років тому +7

    It's a shame that their jSax is not so detailed and close to real sax as Clarineo is to real clarinet. I like saxophone sound better but jSax has too limited range. If Nuvo could develop an enhanced jSax...

      Have you seen Vibrato Polycarbonate Saxophone? it's like a real sax, even if the price is not like jSax....

    • @4000marcdman

      @@Sirant100 yeah. 700.00-800.00 vs 100.00 the two aren't even in the same conversation. I don't even know who would buy that thing when you can get a real Sax for that price.

    Just asking how much is the Nuvo Clarineo

    • @Mlpdashfriends
      @Mlpdashfriends 8 років тому

      well it depends what type of Clarineo you get, if you get the standard Clarineo, it will cost
      $139.99. If you get the starter kit, which comes with more things then the standard, it will cost $149.99. The Clarineo this man has is the starter kit. The extra content the starter kit has is the first steps hand book and cd. The stardard comes with everything else but those things. Hope this helped.

      Nova The Angel If I'm a university student who has been playing the clarinet for about six years, would it be more appropriate for me to get a Ridenour C clarinet or would I still be considered a dignified clarinetist if I bought this?

  • @cynthiariordan1046
    @cynthiariordan1046 8 років тому +1

    One of my first reactions is that most music for clarinet is written for a B-flat instrument. Just saying.

    • @aycc-nbh7289
      @aycc-nbh7289 4 роки тому

      Cynthia Riordan Yes, but C clarinets are hard to come by these days, but would it be dignified of an experienced clarinet player to own one of these or would a Ridenour C clarinet be more appropriate?

    • @Usefulmusic
      @Usefulmusic 5 місяців тому

      With a C-instrument, you have much more music to choose from - music for recorders, flutes, violins, and the music of thousands of songs if you're playing with accompaniment you are in the same key as the pianist.

    If you play a (c) on a Bb clarinet you really hear a (d) but other than that good video
