Boy did those sewing patterns take me back to an earlier time. It really made me smile to see the children’s patter in pieces. Someone, probably mom or grandma, made those pattern pieces into one of the garments pictured on the front of the envelope. I look forward to your sewing journal. Great haul by the way. 👏👏👏😎
Yes I would love to follow along the junk journal adventure!❤ I’m kinda new to watching you, and have so enjoyed your videos! I absolutely love your style!❤thank you!
Yes, please for the junk journal adventure. Nice haul. One of my local thrift stores has dozens of the old Simplicity, McCalls, and Vogue sewing patterns. I picked up a few that remind me of the ones that I used to own back in the day when I made my own clothes and my three girls’ clothes. I can pick them up for like $.25 each. I keep threatening to take out my sewing machine. I’ve got a brand new BabyLock. It’s rarely been used. I finally started crafting, so maybe some sewing will be next, ha ha. Right now, I’m trying to finish the first draft of my next novel that seems to be taking priority.💕📚
Hi Laurie, sounds like you have a lot on your plate. My mom used to sew and make all our dresses for church. They were my favorite. I’ve seen the BabyLock. So cool! I have the basic Brother sewing machine. Exactly my level of sewing. Lol Thanks for watching Laurie. Good luck on your novel
What an interesting card game from my favorite TJ Maxx! Maybe 3 minute timer…good for brushing your teeth! lol love the box! Maybe use them for prompts in a junk journal lol 😝
I would love to see you do a junk journal start to finish. I actually made my first junk journal as a Christmas present for my daughter this last Christmas and it was a fairy/mushroom house theme. At some point I’m going to do a video of it to post.
I have those fashion ladies! :) Awesome haul. I would love to go with you on an earthy junk journal adventure! But I do look forward to your Tag Tuesday-so now I'm torn ;)
I LOVE that book!! The cover is adorable & the fact it's poems makes it such a gem!! Looked like "To my dear Lorraine"? My daughter & Grandma are Julia's and my cousins are Jenkins...how funny! I was born in '69 when then Simplicity pattern came out! What a haul!!! I was at Hobby Lobby today n boy my store is really getting rid of paper crafts, so sad! I saw that roll of tape n almost got it!! That box of plastic sheets is an A-mazing find!!! I would decorate & use the game box as a journal holder!! Just WOW 🥰 tfs!!!! Cannot wait to see what you do with everything!!! 👏🏼 ✌🏼❤️
Hi Melinda, when I found that book I knew I had to have it. I was kind of in a rush so I didn’t really pay attention to what kind of book it was. I was just in love with the look of the cover. The patterns were so vintage, I just had to have them. My brother was born in 69 too. So cool! I didn’t know HL is getting rid of their paper crafts! That’s horrible. That box of plastic sheets are going to last me forever! I love how retro the game box is and the magnetic lid is perfect! Thanks so much for watching Melinda

I most definitely want to see a start to finish by you! How awesome! And I'd love to watch some play with the distress crayons. I haven't decided yet if I really need them. This year's goal is to spend less money on new supplies. I own way too much already! I'm not doing well on that goal...btw...but I'm still trying! 😊
Hi Katrina, I’m excited to get started on the new junk journal series. I’ll have to watch a few videos on how to use the distress crayons. So when I feel confident enough to film myself playing with them, I’ll be sure to share it. Thanks for watching
Great haul, the patterns are such a great find, love the book. so beautiful. Love the storage drawer you found, my HL just started to get them. I usually get mine at TJ Maxx and Home goods as well.
I love the Tim holtz watercolor pencils more than I like the distress crayons. The Timmy watercolor pencils can do anything and everything and if your gonna spend money on something in the future. The Tim holtz watercolor pencils are where to spend it. They are sooooo cool.
Hi Jamie, thanks for the tip. I might have to get my hands on some of his watercolor pencils to do a comparison. I wonder if the pencils I purchased would work just as well? Thanks so much for watching
@@SunsetCrafts I am convinced now that the Tim Holtz watercolor pencils will help me to not need to spend money on the different colors of ink. These really do so much more than you would think.
Hi Libby, so glad you enjoyed this haul. I had a lot of fun sharing what I purchased. The patterns will have to be put on hold until I get this new journal done. So glad you’re on board with the new series. I will be starting that up pretty soon. Thanks for watching
lol those patterns…my mom actually made me that little girl dress with the ruffles and buttons on the front! I remember wearing the dress for picture day! It wasn’t 1969 but 1971!
Maggie you get the best stuff. I have Jane Davenport water soluable crayons and have no idea how to use them. If you figure it out I'd love a demo video. Count me on board for the fairy forest journal that would be so fun I might even be able to craft along with some of it. Always fun with Maggie. 😊❤
Hi Suzy, I’ll be sure to do some research before making a video on the distress crayons. Should be fun. Thanks for wanting to come along while I create this junk journal. I hope everyone likes it.
OMGosh, I love the book by Browning, I am a poet and I know your going to tear it up to make something beautiful. I found a thrift book that is 1800’s and I can not ever pull the pages out. Do make a Junk journal that is Victorian and beautiful hi-lighting the poems. Have fun. Blessings
Hi Bonnie, I like collecting beautiful old books. I would never tear that one apart. I have it on display in my craft corner. Some things are just too good to rip apart. Thanks for watching
What a great haul! I love the patterns and book. I, like @JamieLOVEUMOREJOURNALS, like the TH watercolor pencils better than the crayons, I only have scorched timber, black & white, but they are great! Good idea on the journal, I've never known what I'd do with one, but I'd love to make one just because I have a ton of stuff lol. Now for those transparencies - great find!!! Your daughter will love these, I made goth glue (Andrea Nelson Art) and used page protectors (cut apart to make 2) and made crazy designs for Easter Eggs and bunnies. Grandson (soon to be 7) colored them in with permanent sharpie markers and they made the most beautiful window art for their patio door. Yours would be better because they are thicker. I hope you do it because it is super fun and fast once the glue dries overnight. Have a great week!
Hi Jean, thanks so much for all the tips. I’ll definitely give Jamie’s channel a look. I’ve heard the watercolor pencils are better, of course after the fact that I bought 2 sets of the crayons Lol! Too funny. Oh well, still want to try them out and see how they work. Afterwards, I might want to try the pencils. Can never have too many items in my stash. Haha! Thanks for watching Jean
Hi Erika, the fashion ladies were from Amazon. The link is in the description box of this video. I found a roll of the ball chain at Hobby Lobby. Thanks for watching
Yes, to the project. My thrift shop haul was those distress crayons. I found 3 packs for around 3 $ each. I was jumping for joy. I love your channel so much. I love how you show everything so we can see it all. If you ever get tempted to buy that foil tape at HL to use on your tags and foil labels, Don't!!!! It's too sticky and doesn't cut very well. What a fun haul.
You really scored on those distress crayons! That was an amazing find. I actually already bought the foil tape on Amazon and it worked great. I’ve already made the faux metal charms. Thanks for watching
@@SunsetCrafts Maggie, I've watched and shared that foil charm video. I'm obsessed with making them. I've been making them with my copper and using my verdigris trick on them. I hope you show a project on how you use those.

Hi Sharin, those are great ideas. I’ll have to try it out and see if it will take to the ink. It might actually work under the die cutting machine. Thanks for watching
Hi Maggie, loved the haul and of course you made me spend money 🤣😂🤣. You need to research that Robert browning books, a lot of his works are worth money. That was a great find! 🌻
Hi Karen, I’m glad you enjoyed my haul. It was a lot of fun to share. The book was definitely my favorite find. I’ll have to search it up and see if it’s worth any more than what I paid. Thanks for watching
I love and hate your Hobby Lobby hauls!!!!!!!!!!! Love the fact of what you get at such fantastic prices, hate, not that's the wrong word, so jealous you have them on your doorstep and we have nothing like that at all, and we are lucky if we can get 10% off something - lol. Absolutely love our USA holidays, just because of HL, Joanns & Michaels!!! Yes you need to go track down more sewing patterns, you can use them on your tags to create a background or place over other paper / images as they are transparent if you use matte medium or something of the sort xx Not for me whimsical and fairies, will just skip those days xxx
Hi Sam, I’m definitely going to go back and see if I find more sewing patterns. I completely forgot that they have the instructions on the inside. I should’ve known since I do a little pattern sewing too. I understand that not everyone will like the style of junk journal that I’ll be making, but a lot said that they are willing to watch to see the process of how to make one so I’m good with that. Nice haul! I use watercolors for my splatters because it’s cost effective-not as opaque as ink. . BTW, I have some items you may be interested in. Vintage 1940’s and grungy, but couldn’t find an email address to contact you in your description box. Am I missing it? TFS

Hi Maggie, I love watching your videos and your hauls and tonight I had a few things I thought I could share. One is the thread you were missing in that awesome set you got was got with the shiny gold thread running through. Another is someone I like that does Distress crayon videos would be Marly Designs and she just did one 2 weeks ago called Grungy Tag using TH (…….) not sure the rest but it is about the third or fourth video AND of course Luise Heinz (BTW they are both TH designers). Also, I almost started laughing when you discovered what was inside the pattern envelopes!! It was obvious you are much younger than me and schools have done a sad thing not teaching sewing inn the US. But my grandmother started teaching me when I was 8 so when I was in high school and took home ec, I could make a whole outfit, skirt, pants, top and jacket except for the zipper. Vicky in Florida
Hi Vicky, thanks for sharing your suggestions on who I can watch to get more info on how to use the distress crayons. I’ll have to look them up. Also, I knew about the instructions in the pattern envelopes since I also sew, but for some reason it didn’t occur to me how old/retro they would look. I’m so happy with my purchase. You probably would be surprised to know that I will be turning 50 this month. So I’m probably not as young as you think. Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Jane, I do have a Sidekick. I use mine quite often. I have found plenty of dies that fit. Of course they have to be on the smaller side and less than 3 inches wide but for smaller projects, the Sidekick is perfect. Embossing folders are definitely a different story. I haven’t found any that I’m interested in purchasing.
@@SunsetCrafts Thanks - yes I can find some dies but it's frustrating that Tim H doesn't make Embossing folders for the Sidekick as I bought mine because of him!
@purplejanew I completely agree. You would think there would be some type of collection to go along with this little machine besides the one that comes with it.
Hi Maggie, I have some earthy, fairy, mushroom digital paper & honestly I have no idea why I purchased it. I am not one for those types of journals just because I’m thinking if I would use it or who I would even gift it to. I cannot think of anyone who it would really pertain to, so I would not make something like that. If you decide to do it anyway, I still love your other content so I would not abandon ship. lol. ♥️ I’m probably in the minority though because many people would like to see how do do a junk journal from beginning to end.
Hi Suzie, thanks for your feedback. I know that maybe this style would not be everyone’s jam, but like you said…regardless of the style…knowing the process of creating a junk journal might be interesting to others. So I’m going to give it a try and see how it goes. Thanks for watching

Do you have a Sizzix Sidekick? I just can't seem to find any dies/folders that will fir it and the 3D ones are too thick as well as being too big :(
Hi Jane, I do have a Sidekick.
Hi Maggie,
I have some earthy, fairy, mushroom digital paper & honestly I have no idea why I purchased it.
LUISE HEINZL - JUNK JOURNAL ART She uses crayons a lot.
Hi LaShauna for the suggestion. I’ll have to check out her videos. Thanks for watching
You might want to check out your book. It might have some monetary value.
Hi Carrie, I love the book. I’ll look into it..thanks for watching
Nook & company is really cheap. It works, but not the best quality
