I used to go to cork from London as a boy, we lived in bermondsey se London that was a long old day travelling but lovely memories, fishguard harbour,, you got off the train and straight onto the innisfallen.
The Innisfallen pictured here is not the 1969 vessel but her predecessor from 1948, the third vessel of that name. The 1969 Innisfallen was a RORO vessel which operated from Tivoli ferry port. Great film though,
Quite right Mark....I was on the newer vessel during my chidhood as it is a big part of my childhood memories. I keep waiting for cine footage of the newer one.
I travelled on her many times. On one voyage in bad weather I was in the communal bunk room in a bottom bunk with my mum there was a veritable fountain of vomit coming from the bunks above. A lady crew member was collecting sick bags and taking them away but as she trien to go up the stairs she was thrown back down by a violent lurch, poor woman what a mess. On a happier note I remember sitting on the well deck singing along with everyone as a chap played the accordion. happy memories of a happy childhood.
You’ve got your dates wrong. That M.V. Innisfallen was launched in the 1950’s or earlier, certainly not 1969…I travelled on her between Fishguard and Cork in 1956,1958, 1959 and 1960..

That Innisfallen was 1948/1968 my dad rip was her Bosun many many happy days nice seeing her one more time

The Innisfallen was sailing all through the 1950s' and 60s'. She was launched, I understand, in 1948 and not 1969, as stated here.
