The fairytopia slander... You guys tore them to shreds 😭😭😭
Mariposa is my sister
I KNOWWWW THEY SOOOO FCKN RUDEE
Which is a shame. I like the original Fairytopia and Mariposa movie. Mermaidia was good, but there are a few things that bugged me and Magic of the Rainbow was not bad, but I kinda disliked the hair of Azura and the pixies. The hairstyle just didn’t look good in a realistic way
Fairy topia was easily one of my favorites
i’m so living for the barbie renaissance now
Bibble has human teeth and Guy Fieri hair and I think that's what throws Bibble haters off. Not me though, Bibble is my girlboss
If Bibble has human teeth and forward facing eyes, there's no way their species isn't predators.
@@DefaultSeaTurtleLMFAO
Diamond Castle is THE cottagecore lesbian movie. Those two girlies could not give less of a shit about the twins, they literally ride away from them on a rainbow
I have been obsessed with the three musketeers and all related content recently (novel, the bbc adaptation, the barbie movie of COURSE), here are the important footnotes:
-barbie and the three musketeers IS actually accurate for having a four man band, the original novel could be titled d'artagnan and the three musketeers, because similarly, it's about this guy meeting three musketeers. the only difference is in the novel those three are musketeers from the beginning, whereas in the barbie movie none of them are until the end
-the musketeers used muskets, but this was also when guns were pretty bad and hard to use, so they used swords just as frequently/alongside the muskets. "musketeer" was more specific to the idea of being a guard of the king, rather the specific weapon. it's a big step above being a normal guard or soldier, at least in the novel, it's a symbol of competence and honor
-barbie is implied to be d'artagnan's son in this, but one of her friends is named aramina, a clear parallel to the musketeer aramis (the slutty one in the novel). this either implies that aramina is a genderbent aramis, OR aramis named his daughter after himself. either way iconic
-the beginning is actually very weirdly book accurate lmao
anyway go barbie!!! and also my niche obsession with a novel from the 1840s!!
describing aramis as the slutty one is SO funny PLS
You men daughter
This comment made want to read the book
@@Diana-yz8it genuinely one of the funniest books I've ever read, I would highly recommend it! a classic adventure novel tbh
As a girl who lived and breathed Barbie, this video is amazing. I was the youngest in my family so I had to appreciate all the Barbie movies all by myself(I mean… All of them) so watching you two remanence is so nice! 🩷 my top three gotta be
3, Barbie Magic Pegasus
2, Princess and the Pauper
1, Barbie diamond castle(for the lesbian cottagecore ofc)
Same here! I'm the youngest and only girl, so I was desperate to see Barbie as an older sister/aunt type of figure 😭 Barbie and Dora the Explorer was my whole personality at 6 lol
I see fairytopia as a disability allegory and her gifted wings are her prosthetics 🥰
OMG it would be so cool if she actually got magical prosthetic wings at the end. Great idea ♥️
Omg right because she has to put on the necklace to be able to fly like other fairies
barbie and the magic of pegasus takes 1st place for me simply because it had an animated bloopers reel
Fyi its not the only Barbie movie with bloopers 😊 go check them out if you havent already!
I adore the format of this video. It was so nostalgic and felt very much like a conversation I would have with my own sister.
the fact that princess and the pauper didn't sweep this bracket is a travesty
magic of pegasus was iconic bc you could watch it in 3d with those red and blue glasses (it was the only one i had on dvd and i picked it solely bc of that reason) but princess and the pauper IS arguably the best one. also i had a rapunzel barbie that came with a little dragon plush which was adorable
y’all not liking bibble is actually criminal 😔
Fairytopia was my introduction to Barbie and they were my faaaves
The fact that Ana hasn't watched Mermaid tale makes me question her authority bc Merliah was my girl
Princess and the Pauper SHOULD have won. And Diamond Castle should have made it further. But kudos for sticking to your truth/the coin flips.
Four protagonists in the Three Musketeers is actually true to the story since the book has the three musketeers and D’Artagnan, a wannabe musketeer. I haven’t seen the Barbie movie but I’m guessing she’s the movie’s D’Artagnan?
yeah in fact in that movie she is his daughter 😭
magic of pegasus was my favourite movie and like probably the one that i rewatched th emost, so it's always surprising to me when i find out that most people dont consider it as quintessential as i do. overall had a lot of fun, felt like i was hearing my own sisters!
In preparation for the new Barbie movie I introduced my boyfriend to the world of the animated films with Magic of Pegasus and he enjoyed himself way more than he was expecting to! Haha, you guys are right that it's the sassiest romance and therefore one of the best with Aidan and Annika's chemistry.
Justice for the 12 Dancing Princesses! I get it though, I just loved the outfits and the pretty fantasy setting so maybe I'm biased. Swan Lake is so good and introduced me to the ballet so I'm glad it won :D
I was absolutely obsessed with the Barbie movies as a youngster, so you can bet that I'll drop everything for an hour long analysis video.
bibble is divisive in the barbie community. i believe this is because bibble is the barbie equivalent to the minions.
Barbie as Rapunzel deserved BETTER! 😭
Barbie's nutcracker adaptation is so iconic honestly. I love the cute little plot and the character arcs they go through. No other Nutcracker adaptation is nearly as good
Barbie as the Island Princess is one of if not my favourite Barbie movie ever but I never actually finished watching the movie until years later cause my friend’s dvd was scratched. I also like movies where Barbie is a mermaid but I think that’s just cause mermaids are cool. And the Fashion Fairytale/Fairy Secret duology. Raquelle is just so iconic.
And while it’s not technically Barbie, My Scene was also a slay. Especially Jammin in Jamaica, that special was so messy.
BREAD 👏 AND 👏 JAM 👏 AND 👏 JAM 👏 AND 👏 BREAD 👏
As a person who was truly obsessed With barbie and I still watch them all (not you reboot) every year to this day, I ADORED this video!
Don't get me wrong... I love "Barbie of Swan Lake" and I have a big nostalgia for this movie (it's one of my favorites). But no Barbie movie (or even not many movies in general) will ever beat "Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper" for me. So you losing it in the second round physically hurt me :S. But I really understand... It was fun to watch to talk about Barbie movies.
Personally I didn't hate the "Fairytopia" movies but I just never liked them as much. So I always felt I was the only one who felt that way. It's nice to know I'm not. Although I'm among those who at least adored Bibble :D.
The Bibble hate is not ok Julia 😭😭
To be fair to barbie and the 3 musketeers the original book was about the 3 musketeers and some guys so it was originally 4
I’d like to say that you both have phenomenal hair ✨
why thank you 😊
I’m still blown away by Princess and the Pauper’s soundtrack. You’d expect the soundtrack to be as cheap as the animation and the general production quality, but this movie produced music so iconic and unforgettable I would compare it to a Disney film. Only the villain song falls flat.
ARE YOU SERIOUSLY SAYING 'How can I refuse?' IS THE WEAKEST SONG IN PRINCESS AND THE PAUPER? Get outta here!
I've never watched any Barbie movies outside of playing with an interactive Netflix one with my niece, but that won't stop me from excitedly tucking into this video because I love them all! ❤
My favorite one was always Magic of the Pegasus! I thought it was the most iconic in terms of the fantasy, and it really does feel like an original fairytale in a way that many of the other ones don't in my opinion. The villain truly scared me as a kid, and I think the conflict is one of the most developed and intense. I also agree that the romance is by far the one where the leads have the most chemistry.
12 dancing princesses will always be my fav
My top 3 (in no order)
Princess and the Pauper
Diamond Castle
12 Dancing Princesses
Bonus: The Magic of Pegasus
Swan lake is good, but the other movies are SO much better, I think you guys let nostalgia cloud your judgment
I feel seen as a fellow Fairytopia hater 😭 the other movies turned me into Tchaik nerd and got me into ballet- what has Mariposa done for society like I’m sorryyyyyyy
Literally failed an incredibly important test today. Now Im washing away the self-pity with so much Barbie content. Love your videos!! 💖
I'm so sorry 😢 I remember that stress, same crap happened to me once upon a time.
I actually remember when the Diamond Castle came out when I was a kid and as a huge Aquamarine fan, I recognized "Connected", so I think you might have it the other way around in terms of which came first. Also I think Diamond castle is a bit overhyped though, I think that the story was fun but they recycled a ton of their background characters from other older barbie movies and I just felt that the villain was so low tier. Justice for Magic of Pegasus hahaha.
seeing all the reviews on letterboxd knowing it would ultimately lead to a video like this was great it really built up my anticipation lol
Barbie in Nutcracker was always so beloved to me because it was the first one but my favorites are obviously Swan Lake, A Barbie Christmas Carol, Princess and the Pauper, The 12 Dancing Princesses, and then I think it's called Barbie Diaries.
i demand justice for princess and the pauper
Finally someone understands the Barbie Swan Lake supremacy
Swan Lake was the only Barbie movie I owned growing up, and it is ICONIC! I am definitely gonna have to find it and rewatch it to see how it holds up now that I'm older.
Finnaly watching this I’m so excited!!! And ANNA ❤
THE BIBBLE SLANDER!!!! 😂😂
So the musketeers don't use muskets because it's based on the novel from Alexander Dumas in which he switched the muskets for swords to add more "panache" to the fight scenes.
As a fellow Swan Lake truther im glad Swan Lake won.
The only reason I give the "dance forever" thing an okay from 12 Dancing Princesses is because that is actually something that comes up in a few versions of different fairytales :P So I kinda let it slide.
barbie as rapunzel so underrated
In swan lake they aren’t just short dresses they are ballet tutus
The hypocrisy to Love Premingor and hate the ferret from Rapunzel for the exact same reason… it couldn’t be me. I love the weird queer in these films.
Island Princess was always my favorite.
"at least bibble wasnt in the whole thing" GIRL IM LOSING MY CONTROL WHAT IS WRONG WIT UUUUUUU
They use swords in the original musketeers too! Musketeers are called that because they were soldiers in a time period where guns were getting technologically advanced enough to become more widespread (even though they've existed since the 14th century) but reloading them was so slow and impractical that if you missed your opponent would have enough time to just walk up and stab you. And you were likely to miss since muskets also weren't very precise. Oh and most musketeers couldn't afford to pay for one where swords were cheaper
Your sister is so pretty.
Me and my friends would've killed Bibble with hammers I can tell you that much
i'd HIGHLY recommend trying out some of the games tied to these animated Barbie movies; y'all talking about shiver being a nuisance in the film reminded me about how annoying she was in the associated game
Preminger dogs look like James Charles I cannot unsee it 😂
oh man I had the first fairytopia and magic of the rainbow as audiobooks on cd and listened to them all the time and I loved the first mariposa movie so its sad that you didnt like any of them T-T although i also have some fairytopia related angst where I despised the second mariposa movie because they would air it on tv soooooo much and never the first one which I thought was way better (they also never aired mermadia which was my favourite mainline fairytopia movie lmao)
another banger video
I'm an early 2000s girl with four younger sisters and I've lived through the many generations of Barbie animated movies. Obviously Princess and the Pauper will forever be my number 1. I haven't touched the Fairytopia franchise in sooooo long but your thoughts on it absolutely make sense. Mermaidia was always my favorite and I honestly didn't love Mariposa because the villain's sidekick creatures freaked me out.
ahhhh I loved this video!! the sisterly banter was so cute. It reminded me of watching Barbie movies with my sister. The Bibble slander hurt but I understand I really do. My personal faves are Princess and the Pauper, Magic of Pegasus, and 12 Dancing Princesses. Another Barbie movies you guys should check out is Barbie in the Pink Shoes. It's a newer movie, released in 2013, but spiritually it really belongs with the early 2000's films. The Barbie wiki says it the last of the Barbie animated movies to be based on fairytales, ballets/plays, or classic literature, which were always my fav kind of Barbie movie.
I can't really do a top 3 but my number one is princess island.
Julia has never had a bad opinion (it’s true)
12:50 Yeah i also wonder why Barbie never did Cinderella. Thats literally perfect for her.
Probably also the same reason why Barbie as Sleeping Beauty got cancelled, Disney sucks and is very greedy
Justice for bibbles
Thank you for acknowledging that Erika IS A BARBIE. MOST PEOPLE SKIP HER. why???
Barbie and Three Musketeers is 4 people bc the original book is "D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers", so it's always been 4 ppl, Barbie is D'Artagnan
I was OBSESSED with the barbie animated movies [ watched all of them up to 2015- barbie in mermaid tale is still one of my favourite movies lol] so this feels like it was made for me
barbie the magic of pegasus video game is the best game of ALL TIME i played it like every morning before school for like whole year
just for the record, wga and sag-aftra haven't asked for a boycott
they haven't asked for a consumer boycott, but sag-aftra has asked for an influencer boycott!
"They can't do a sequel to Princess and the Pauper, that's it"- tell that to Vanessa Hudgens!!
Legitimately only time I have ever disagreed with you. Princess and the pauper #1 forever
all i remember of barbie and the pegasus is we only had the dvd where every now and then the polar bear would tell you to put on your 3d glasses but we lost them so it was basically unwatchable
putting christmas carol against princess and the pauper is actually so disrespectful
barbie and the diamond castle is my fav lesbian movie
Im so fucking glad you did this cause like this was my barbie experience thaaanm youuu
This is my new comfort video. Can't wait to replay this for eternity ❤
it is good for my soul to see someone else acknowledge how underwhelming the fairytopia series is. anyway swan lake sweep !!
Videogame videos by you would be very cool!
I feel like almost the same same way about fairytopia
this is fairytopia slander
exactly! muahaha
The Barbie Fairytopia slanders 😂😂😂 yeah it’s definitely cuz y’all didn’t grow up watching it religiously. I will say, Barbie Mermaidia alter my brain chemistry as a child 😂
I don't know if you enjoy anime, but if you like classical music adding to the story and emotion of animation, you might enjoy the series Princess Tutu. It's in the Magical Girl genre, with transformation sequences, powers, and villains, but it has some really unique features. Ballet, for one. The story weaves together all kinds of fairy tale and ballet elements with a particular emphasis on the Tchaikovsky ballets, and the results are just so poignant and bittersweet. Nearly all the score is made up of selections from classical ballet music, and watching not only exposed me to many pieces I didn't previously know, it tied those pieces forever for me to some absolutely amazing story moments.
Princess Tutu can also be very extra. In a variety of ways. But it has a permanent place in my heart. It haunts me. I love it so much.
Almost the only thing I would change about it would be to add more outfit changes.
I saw 3 of the fairyropia movies on TV! I don’t remember what channel (my best guess is Cartoon Network)
mermaid tale slander 😢
i enjoyed mermaid tale! i was calling it crazy in a good way!
Im glad you followed your hearts and didn’t bow down to princess and the pauper stans 😂
They made so many fairytopia ones because they sold the most toys lol
aren't some of the my little ponies Pegasi/pegasuses?
Island Princess
Woah I’m shocked people read the Swan Lake villains as anti-semitic. I always thought his nose was big because it looked like a bird beak, and he turns into a bird. And I don’t think a Jersey accent and being high pitched is innate to Jewishness. I mean it’s Janice from friends (literally). Could it be people projecting that negativity? Though this kinda thing does seem like it should have caught by a higher up :/
I know this comment is so late, and you'll absolutely hate me for this, but I just need you to share in my suffering. When talking about Mermaid Tale Anna said "I haven't seen it because it's newer." When I was talking with my childhood friend about the barbie movies like a week ago I shared that sentiment. I had seen it but I also considered it a newer barbie movie. My world collapsed when I looked it up. Folks it came out fourteen years ago.
I know it came out later, but I actually wish you gave your opinion on princess and the popstar. My family had one late kid like 6-7 years after the rest of us and she would watch it. I remember liking it. I don’t think it is as good as the old one, but the updated visuals help it a lot. Idk
i dont have a twitter but THANK YOU FOR DEFENDING RACHEL ZEGLER
29:25 Funny thing about The Fast and the Furious. That title originally belonged to a movie by Roger Korman from many decades ago. When they made the racing movie in 2001, they had to buy the rights to use the title from Korman, but in the deal, he kept the rights to do direct sequel titles like "The Fast and the Furious 2." That's why they had to get creative with the names.
I feel OFFENDED that Island princess got second place. I hate this movie so much. The video was entertaining tho, god job
I'm backing swan lakeeee 😭💕
I enjoyed this so much and now I want to watch all the barbie films 💖
413 views when I caught the video.
Congrats if you know
Just started watching, but barbie princess and the pauper has to win because of the "girl like you" song
