Congrats on the 1K subscribers. I enjoy your content and feel it is very relatable and practical. It is nice to know a bit about your journey to sewing. Thanks for sharing. I would love to see a video of your favourite patterns and ideas for hacking them. 👍
I really like that Mccalls M7977 pattern and you're right, it doesnt seem to be a very common pattern🤔 but I think I will buy it!☺️ It seems to be a very versitale pattern as well. Your version is beautiful with that white contrasting color matching the white flowers. 😍 Happy sewing🤗🧵
It is a lovely pattern, the first time I made it the frill insertion really confused me but I think that was just me. I will add some tips for that in my next video as I'll be showing the finished top x
Great video Tanya. I agree that many patterns are very similar and like to try and hack what I already have. I’d like to see a vlog on your favourite patterns and potential tweaks.
Hello, I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your videos. I'd love to hear about your favourite patterns. And also more about pattern hacking and altering charity shop finds. I like how you have recommendations for Fabric shops, patterns etc that I don't see on other sewing UA-cam channels. I watch your videos whilst sewing myself and find your manner really calming and quite soothing 😅
1k subscribers in such a short time! That's fabulous and I'm so happy for you that like minded sewists are finding you.Thank you for introducing yourself a bit and sharing your beginner experiences with our beloved craft. I think a lot of us at the beginning turn to the Big 4 pattern companies because they are the most immediately visible or recognizable. Unfortunately, I also think many beginners get turned off by them because of the instructions, or lack thereof, that come with them. I still find the explanations confusing at times, and often just end up relying on my own skills to complete them. Once I found Indy patterns, my skill set improved rapidly, and with UA-cam tutorials, expanded even more. I am interested in combining patterns I already own to create a different look. So, I'm already looking forward to your next video. Thank you!
Yes, I completely agree - the big 4 are so confusing sometimes and can leave you feeling really deflated. I enjoy the indie patterns too and the instructions are usually really clear, they can be quite pricey too though. Of course they need to make a profit, I just make my choices more carefully which is no bad thing. Thanks so much for watching! 🌼
I love this vlog as you seem very like me. I have a large chest of drawers full of commercial patterns collected over 50 years that I source from. I never use all of each pattern, I mix and match from several according to what features I like. People ask me what pattern I have used and I truthfully can’t say. I have been sewing since I made a hat for my doll at age 7 and have never looked back. Looking forward to your next post already. 😊
Hi Tanya. Thank you SO much for mentioning my channel! I really like this initiative to promote smaller channels, and I'll be sure to follow up. I love the Hello Kitty/ Star Wars fabric. :D The blouse looks gorgeous! xx
Congratulations on hitting 1000 subscribers so quickly - thoroughly deserved! My first attempt at dressmaking was a Vogue bias cut evening gown for a university ball. I had no idea how difficult it would be and jumped straight in. It actually turned out OK, except for the hem 😂
Wow, I think when I first first saw your video, You were definitely under 600 and now you're over a 1000. Congratulations! Just to let you know, I did the first thing with my first garmin I sewed. No one told me it needed to be washed😅😮😅
Tanya the hello kitty Star Wars is brilliant! I have a dres WIP that is all done except for buttons, hem and sewing the elastic into the waistband 🫣in my defence I need better matching thread….
Glad to have found you - very enjoyable and interesting vlogs. I have a similar attitude to you insofar as using patterns I have to create looks that I like. I also use a lot of the free patterns available to get basics that I can then hack. Would love to see your favourite patterns.
Hi Tania, so glad I’ve found you, really enjoyed your 3 videos you’re a joy to watch and I love all your makes so far. I’m looking forward to being inspired with what to make myself x
I’m so happy for you reaching over 1000 subscribers. That’s wonderful. I think I found you when you had like 200. I think you will do well. Please do a video of your favorite patterns and how you like to hack them. Have a blessed weekend. ❤
I subscribed because I like to follow all different kinds of sewing people and you’re so calm and describe details so well which is so nice when a lot of others are hyper and a chaotic (not saying there’s anything wrong with that style I just like variety!)
Congrats on 1000 subscribers. On the topic of sewing blogs, one of my faves was Wardrobe Refashion. Did you ever follow them? It was brilliant! It sure made me look differently at used clothes, bags etc with a view to salvage and repurpose though they did basic alterations etc too.
I truly enjoy your videos, I've just discovered Liberty cotton tana lawn, and oh my!!! What a wonderful fabric!! Just curious, do you wash it before you sew with it? The internet says there's no need, but I want your opinion?
Thank you so much, that's really kind of you. I prewash fabrics, better safe than sorry I think. I've yet to sew with wool so I don't know what I'd do with that...

Thank you 🌼
Thanks Tania. Look forward to seeing your favourite patterns please. 😊
I've just ordered some of the fabric you are wearing, not heard of them before. You are doing really well with your new you tube.
Ooh great, it's a lovely fabric and very good value. I've ordered some more in sky blue 😆 Thank you for watching x
Great video Tanya. I agree that many patterns are very similar and like to try and hack what I already have. I’d like to see a vlog on your favourite patterns and potential tweaks.
They can be similar and the cost all adds up. I do get really tempted sometimes and can't resist 😄

Thanks for the feedback and for watching 🌼

That sounds like a great pattern collection! I'm not super adventurous with my pattern adaptations but every now and then I try 😊

That is an epic undertaking, well done! Sewing on the bias is tricky. Thank you so much for watching x
Your voice is very easy to listen to.

The big mistakes are all the more meaningful though, we'll never do it again 🤣

Thanks Michelle, I haven't heard of that blog. I think it's a great idea with more and more relevance in today's climate x
