for chinese weddings. normally cantonese weddings, there is a tradition where the groom and his party (now normally the groomsmen) go pickup the bride. And it is now the tradition that the bride's friends (mainly bridesmaids and siblings) make it challenging for the groom. This normally includes the demand of money or passing certain games/challenges. Just search up "chinese wedding door games" for more information.

@@scarletdamsel3139 It is a chance for the groom to prove his love for his bride. The bride and her group of bridesmaids plus gal pals will negotiate an entrance fee when the groom and his homies tries to enter the bride's home to pick her up before the wedding ceremony. Usually, the groom will pay cash on the spot to whatever price is agreed upon. The bridesmaids and gal pals of the bride split the money amongst each other ... sometimes the girls will spend the money instead on a spa and lunch day or some girls day of fun gathering.
