The Gallant Goblin Me too! And the quality of the product is so darn good. I feel like the value is really high. Heckna is a bit creepy for my taste, but give me cute critters and i’m alllllll over it!
I'm currently running the adventure that's in the Humblewood book and we have a Mapach Rogue, a Corvum Wizard, a Hedge Druid, and a Jerbeen Fighter! So much fun!!!!
@@kamikazedudu2779 We are about 1/2 way through the campaign now and next they are headed to the magic college to talk to the Dean. It's a really good story and we've found there's a great balance between combat, role-playing and puzzles. I think once they hit 5th level, I'm also going to run them through the Wakewyrm's Fury that we got as part of Free RPG Day! :)
I don't want to sound like a mini snob but personally I really dislike mixing cardpawns with regular miniatures ( terrain is fine to mix imo), they just clash way to much for me and break the immersion which any good DM knows is the ultimate sin. I would rather have a rock or a bit of currency where I am told this is a troll use your imagination . I don't have this problem when everything is a cardboard stand up or when the PC's are models but all the monsters are cutouts just when they are mixed. Does anyone else share this problem?
That makes sense to me. Mix and matching different styles isn't really my method either. I included the minis in the preview just for scale. But I've certainly run adventures with just standees and that's worked out well, especially when the art is gorgeous. -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin yeah I remember one of the first things I did back in the early 90's was use a copy machine to run off images I got from the instruction booklets and magazines from old nes games like the original final fantasy then glue them on cardboard to make pc and non pcs and had just as much fun as some game played using elaborately painted beautiful Ral Partha models for everything. In the end it really does just boil down to them being just another tool for your imagination , the mixing thing is just a weird quirk I have, I have played with players that absolutely must have a proper miniature for every monster at every encounter and I always found that a bit silly as well, in fact I actually feel from my experience of running games ( especially good ol Ravenloft) that it can be extremely beneficial to keep your players on edge by not exactly spelling out what they are encountering . Is that undead creature in front of them a zombie? A Ghoul? A Ghast? Maybe something like a revanant? Not letting them know just by a glance at a mini keeps them from getting to comfortable, and as DMs we never want to let them feel comfortable because that often breeds boredom.
Excellent point! It can be tricky to play with people who can identify a creature by its mini alone. Sometimes I'll hold off on dropping the mini onto the table until they've been able to identify the creature. -Theo
@@TheGallantGoblin that's a really great trick all DMs should use to preserve tension, and I'm glad you brought it up! I know you guys work extremely hard but I hope one day if things get less hectic you might consider doing a video or 2 on little DM tricks like not always putting all of your minis out to be viewed .tips like this can really improve how rookie DMs run their games and is a good brush up for us more experienced ones as well.
Damn, my urge to play a raccoon cleric has never been higher.
Great value in those boxes! Very nice!
I would like to see the minis
We’re going to see what we can do! -Theo

Heckna is definitely a hard turn from Humblewood, but I suspect you'll be seeing more Humblewood soon! -Theo
Nice job guys and what is your favorite race in humblewood
Personally the Strig and the Hedge. :-) You? -Theo
The strig too. I just love playing a tiny owl who uses a great sword twice its size

why does some of that artwork look like something ive seen before on MTG cards or somewhere?
There shouldn't be any overlap, as Hit Point Press commissions its own art, but it's possible some of their artists also work on MTG.
I highly recommend checking out GooeyCube's box sets! Be warned... you'll become hooked in the plot and world.
Thanks, will do! At first glance definitely looks like a cool collection of products so excited to learn more!

Im real salty about not supporting fantasy grounds
Ah, yes. They did end up releasing the adventure on Roll20. I haven't heard anything about Fantasy Grounds though. I'm sorry. -Theo
