  • For anyone interested in the process: The original B&W episodes are sometimes quite dark, so I've been experimented in PowerDirector10, using the Lighting Adjustment filter. This pulls out a lot more detail in the shadows, but in the previous video, this made the areas which are supposed to be dark areas come out rather grey. This time I applied a less strong filter, then increased the Contrast a little. A new experiment was to then add a Video Denoise filter, which makes the colourising process a little smoother too. The Colourising is done using VideoColorizerColab.ipynb
"Husky's discovery of a luminous egg on the Saturnian moon of Titan could prove to be the solution to the Martian energy crisis."
The first episode in colour can be seen here

This was my favourite programme on TV as a kid. The Galasphere is definitely the height of cool, even now in 2021!

Thanks Trevor. I know what you mean! I find myself "retreating" to simpler times more and more these days, though I'm a little too young to remember Space Patrol first time round.

They really needed to get the Gallospheres right...at on point it was Gallosphere 024 then it was 347

Is this the inspiration for The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut???!!!! Only joking he probably wrote it before this.

I noticed that it was Galasphere 024 when they took off, and Galasphere 347 when they landed on Titan...

Well spotted! According to Wiki, it's a continuity error that pops up now and again:
'In "The Rings of Saturn" and a minority of other episodes, the crew rode the Galasphere 024, rather than the Galasphere 347. The references to Galasphere 024 are, for the most part, continuity errors introduced by the continual re-use of stock footage from the pilot episode, "The Swamps of Jupiter". Although the Galasphere is referred to as 024 during the takeoff programme sequence, it is often later referred to as 347 in the same episode.'

@@IKP1000 Cheers for that explanation. I'm surprised the good Roberta didn't have that fixed herself. Quick cup of coffee, then I'm going to watch those pesky Neptunians get up to their mischief!
