    Nowhere have i found such clear and conceptual reason of why a draft tube is being used. Thank You Sir!

    For the first time, I understood the term negative suction. You taught the concept so clearly. Thankyou Sir.

    Today's lesson
    The draft tube is used in the turbines where the water from turbine which has negative pressure is to be discharged in the area of positive pressure.
    Draft tube is the tube which has varying crossectional area i.e increase area so as to reduce the velocity and increase the pressure from negative value to some positive considerable value......
    Sir I am having one question over it
    Instead of providing draft tube can we provide there a cylindrical perforated pipe which will allow the positive pressure of surrounding atmosphere to convert the negative pressure inside turbine into positive pressure ?

    Hello Sir...I have a doubt
    Pressure=f/A
    Then at inlet,where area is larger how pressure is more than outlet where area is less.
    Please reply

    Sir I have a doubt regarding how the pressure and velocity are inversely proportional when from continuity equation and pascal's law its showing directly proportional. Please clarify it sir.

      The water molecules get more and more space as they move through draft tube because of which they collide with the walls of draft tube and even among themselves,hence pressure gets increased .

      Using Bernoulli equation you will be able to understand it
