When Aswath answered your question on today's youth, he mentioned they are getting the news online, on social media, etc. He asked who watches the 6:30 news anymore, and he answered probably the same people still using flip phones. LOL the man has a dry sense of humor which I like. My 97-year-old mother watches the 6:30 and by the way, has a flip phone, but we upgraded her last month.

Diversification is the secret to optimal performance. This is why I have my interests set on market sectors based on performance and projected growth, such as the EV sector, renewable energy, Tech, and Health. i have some individual stocks that have done well. But i have $150k sitting in a money market gaining interest, and thinking of a 3 or 4 fund approach - should i make bulk purchases across 3 or 4 , different fund positions, or just buy little by little every month, or other? And what %'s to invest in per fund?

    • @MakusNakus
      @MakusNakus 7 днів тому +1

I'm banking on the market gains. Put the money in a S&P index fund and leave it alone! When the market dips add more to your fund. It's not rocket science. My fund growth is greater than my annual income. Don't let the stock geeks scare you away by complicating things.

Follow the S&P 500 by investing in ETFs like VOO, SPY, and SCHD. Dollar-cost averaging into these ETFs will likely outperform most investors in this bull run. Remember to always work with a knowledgeable person in the financial market when starting out to avoid getting burnt.

One strong reason why holding forever is not inimical to the ethos of value investing is the impact of taxes. When one has a huge embedded capital gain on a stock, selling it results (in most cases) in the cash outflow from the payment of taxes.

When should we expect another catalyst on the market other than geopolitical? A sideways market is not good for value investors. What should value investors be doing when the market is trading in a narrow range for too long? I am buying almost on a daily basis. I don't go beyond the Magnificent Seven, though. I have blind faith in Alphabet and am expecting it needs support from the Trump administration to thrive. What is Elon Musk's take on Alphabet? (Stupid question, but I think his viewpoints on Alphabet will matter in the longer run.) Will it survive as one entity by next year? i just got fedup waiting market correction , there are 7 trillion dollar in sidelines waiting to be invested..

Why don't people use platforms that allow them to buy fractional shares? Allocate your funds to the companies you want as a percentage and DCA your acquisition of the shares. That's basically what's happening with our retirement investments through our jobs. The value of your fractional shares grow/shrink with the stock.

Of course, BYD is a good pick. First, it has government support in China, but what about EU tariffs and Indian restrictions on china companies and we do not want to talk about the USA restrictions
But still, I think China is cheap, and with Chinese government recent actions, I am cautiously optimistic, but I am still looking for more buybacks or dividends from the companies but there also headwinds due to geopolitical tensions

@@Blastmaster-ej5kwPerhaps there's a bit of FOMO here? I know it triggers a bit of that for me anyway. When I saw the title (besides being very familiar with Dr A.) it pulls on the string of "Ahh I knew this or that back when I bought Mag1-7, I should have bought more then, held longer, and not sold all or half (or whatever) too soon when I really thought they couldn't go higher. Hmm Maybe this vid will give me an idea how I can get back in, even at these high prices?"
But the takeaway should be something you can apply to any evaluation of a company and thus its stock.
Side note: I'm no META fan but in Oct 2022 I also thought the Metaverse fiasco was overblown and misunderstood. Bought just under $100.
One of my best buys based on fundamentals.
Conversely, one of my worst sells and opportunity cost mistakes afterwards!
Had a target of $210-220. Around April 2023, it broke $200, lost some momentum and hit resistance at $221, and as far as I was concerned, the next couple of down days were a reversal. Felt like an expert! I promptly sold position ~$210. Thought it was the perfect trade. Nice clean
100%+ return in less than a year.....
And then... the market kicked me in the teeth to remind me to sit back down, I don't know shht.
It made a local bottom at ~$205 just days after I sold. Ofc didn't know it was a bottom- figured it was headed lower right into my hands to buy back in. NOPE.
It gapped up to $240 the next day! Ok ok I'll wait for a pullback. And that pullback never came (not until ~$325. "Too expensive, no way am I buying here!". Famous last words. Kicked myself all the way to $600! Sold for a 2x and gave up the 6x (or 4x relatively).
And the reality is, had I held, I would have DEFINITELY sold at $320 ish. And still missed out on the massive run to $600.
Have no idea how to decide when the market is being irrational longer than I can stay solvent.
      My Achilles heel. 🦶🏻
