Wifey Says Too Much Wheel Gap!! Audi S3 H&R Lowering Spring Installation!

- It's time to get low! After installing an awesome set of wheels and tires on my wife's Audi S3, it was missing something! So in todays video we swap out the stock springs and install the H&R lowering springs on my wife's S3 to give it the perfect stance! I wanted a nice conservative drop with no sacrificing. And thats what I got! She loves the new wheels but said there was too much wheel gap. So after spending about 7 hours we got the H&R Sport Lowering springs installed. Dropped the car about 3/4 of an inch all around and perfectly tucked the wheels. S3 sits so good now on my ESR RF2 wheels which are 8.5in wide with a +30 offset all around on stock size 235 tires. Upcoming video I'll get an alignment and talk more about ride quality and looks. But the installation of lowering springs on the 8V Audi S3 is pretty straight forward. Removing the front struts was an absolute pain tho. I could not for the life of me get them to pop out of the aluminum knuckle. Other videos showed people applying some pressure to expand the clamp design and the strut would pop out. Not our S3. So I used my spring compressor tool and was able to use it to apply pressure and separate the strut from the knuckle. Took some time but got them out. H&R springs are a direct sway and was very simple. Rear springs took no time at all! Overall the H&R springs are a perfect way to go and we retained the magnetic suspension and got the look we wanted! Wifey is super happy with the new look of her car!

Wow, what a perfect fit! It looks great, even if it did take 7 hours! Good job! 👏
Thanks! Yeah they look perfect!
If the front struts didn’t take forever getting out, it would have been much quicker 😅
Love your setup ❤ wheels and now suspension it’s perfect 👍🏾 I have some emd springs and b8 bilsteins I need to get on my 8v a3 sline your vids have been making me want to get all these parts I have laying around installed lol again this car looks amazing
Oh nice! That’d be a good setup on yours for sure!
You can get a spindle spreader for the front Attach to your ratchet. Works perfect
Oh yeah? I’ll have to look into that. The crowbar spread it a good bit. But just wouldn’t let go of the strut
I just took an old piece of aluminum and put the bolt in backwards, did the job just fine
@@Static_MK3Focus oh cool. I’ll definitely see about that for next time!
Outstanding brother...well done!!
Thanks! Love the setup now with the springs!
When the installation instructions say it’s gonna take 2 hours, but it’s 7 hours later🤦🏻♂️🤣
I love working on cars🙃🙃🙃
Feel that dude! Tried replacing my leaking oil pan and I accidentally touched a rusted oil coolant line that wouldn't stop leaking and took me two days to fix lmao
Haha yeah! It’s those stupid aluminum knuckles! Even spread apart, they should would not let go of the strut!
@@airuzair2424 oh dang! What a mess
Nice , what’s the wheel and tires set up ? Did you use spacer ?
when you go over bumps at low speeds do you hear a rattle? I do and was wondering if you knew what the issue could be
Nope. Everything is really solid for the car. Maybe heard some noises the first few days as the springs settled in, but it's been an OEM like ride. Did you twist the springs correctly into their spots and line everything up just like they came out? Every bolt tight?
Your wife knows what’s up😎
Haha yeah she likes the mods too!
Now if only I could get my gf to let me buy the borla catback I want😭
@@Static_MK3Focus lol just do it and surprise her 😅
@@BrosFOURRSpeed 🤣🤣🤣 yolo 🤣
@@Static_MK3Focus hey easier to ask for forgiveness then permission 😉
6:41 what size socket is it? i used a 3/4 and it’s too big and an 11/16 is too small… what size should i use?
Definitely metric. Cant remember exactly but maybe 17mm or something
Do you think 245/40/18 would be fine? Or would you predict it would rub?
You should be good. Could always get a 5mm less aggressive offset on the wheel too just to be safe
What are these wheels and what are the specs? Thank you so much!

All linked in this vid ;)
Perfect fitment!
What if only the front lowering springs were changed leaving the back normal would it be okay?
It'd probably fine. But you'd have an odd looking rake to the car
Nice!
Thanks!
do you still have car? how are the hr lowering springs?
Owned this for 2 years. Rode great for our ownership. Current owner still has this setup. We have H&R springs on our new RS3 and it rides great! We carry all these on our website!
Did you get the super sport springs or just the sport
Just the standard sport springs
Nice bro
Thanks! Love the upgrade!
What drop are the springs?
What part number are the springs?
brosfourrspeed.com/parts-%26-merchandise/ols/products/hr-sport-springs
Here is the exact part I bought. I show in the video the drop and wrote the measurements in the description. Perfect setup!
Do you plan on getting an alignment after this?
Yes! That will be shown in the review video I’m making of the springs 😎
Bro what's your wheel size ?
ua-cam.com/video/cBQx8aTxIqc/v-deo.html
Here's my video on them with all the specs
Are these the super sport or sport springs
Normal sport springs
Black out the emblems. 😉
We did ;)
Kept the front chrome tho since black you really wouldnt see it
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Got it. It's a nice touch. Goes well with the blackout trim and wheels. That's what i did with mine. I go back and forth on the front emblem though. I like the black.
So this is the only vid I've seen so far because I was looking into lowering my A3 with the same springs. 😁
What exhaust?
AWE Switchpath! Love it!

What wifey wants…
Of course! Car is coming together!
lowering springs will quickly blow out your stock shocks and or struts, which ever your car has. this is a no no as a mod.
Thats a myth. People say that, but those people are putting them on their 15 year old car with 120k miles. When you put them on old car with old struts, you're bound to wear them out quicker. Had these on my Nissan GTR from 30k miles to 50k miles and the adaptive suspension never failed and never had leaks. Had them on my brand new Supra till 10k miles no issues. And over a year on this S3 and still fine. These are great mods for cars that are not worn out. Think about it, many car companies have lowering springs as options on certain trims. They are perfectly fine
