    REMOTE WINDOW OPEN - It's called Comfort Entry and allows you to remotely let the heat out of the cabin on summer days. Also, if you press the lock button, the windows will stop mid point. If you hold the lock button down, the windows close right up.

      @Mike C apparently it depends if your car is equipped with anti crush device in the windows. Had one without it previously, my current one has it for front windows (no sunroof unfortunately) easy to check, once you can close windows all the way up from inside with single button pull, you have it, if it doesn't work, you don't have it. Also, according to my Saab guru it could be activated on pre face-lift models with Tech2, was entirely blocked with face-lift.

    There are so many comments and so many cool features with the SAABs. I like the articles you posted and all the participation. One feature that I did not notice posted was the Bumpers were designed for easy repair in case of a minor incident. I accidentally backed my truck into the rear corner of my 9-3. It dented the corner of the plastic bumper quite a bit. I decided to reach up under the bumper and push it back out. I could not tell it was ever hit. I do not know if all vehicles with plastic bumpers are able to restore the bumper so cleanly. maybe that is so but I did read in one of the forums that this was done on purpose by SAAB.
    Another thing about SAABs that I learned back in the '90s. Because of their crumple zones, the rest of the car not involved in an accident is virtually untouched. My friend worked at a garage that specialized in SAABs. The owner of the garage often bought SAABs with accidents in the front or rear and just cut off the end that was in the accident and welded it to another car's opposite end. He said they never had any problems with the car after they were done.

    I am not sure if all of the 9-3s have this, but my 2008 one does have an alarm clock through sid. Pretty nifty feature if you like to sleep in the car. If you have it, you can push SET, and then use plus and minus keys to set the time. I have never personally used it but heard from a few people about it being useful on roadtrips, when they want to sleep a little somewhere. Also, great video, good luck with future ones! 😊

    Convertible 9-3 will also open the roof with the key. Useful for summer.
    If you have folding-in mirrors, they will fold in if you hold your lock button on the key and unfold as you drive at around 10m/h.
    Wasn't sure if you mentioned before, but if you hold button on your key with the white line, your alarm will turn on.
    Electric seats with the memory button will not only remember your seat position but also your wing mirror position.

    When I had my 9-3 I remember reading that it had a "rear fog light." Basically an extra rear tail light that makes your rear lights look asymmetrical. I never knew what use this could possibly have until one day I went on a long road trip with another car following me, through a lot of traffic. I turned on the rear fog light figuring it might help the following driver distinguish my car from all of the others. It worked, because when we got to our destination the following driver said "Hey man, I think one of your tail lights is out." Hah hah! Definitely not worth making another video for but figured I'd mention it. Also, when I got my Saab I bought the Saab cuff links from the catalog because they looked really cool: they were the shift pattern from the manual shifter. But they were total crap because they broke after I wore them like 2 times.

    The cupholder by the ignition is the only way to go and for those who say their drinks wobble around and spill when they use it, just place the can or cup in the holder and slide the cover down as far as itll go until its snug up against your drink and it wont move an inch!

  • @heinargo
    @heinargo 3 роки тому +1

    I don't know about newer 9-3s, but OG hatchback has a boot which was always locked by default, even when the doors were unlocked. It also was self locking which is both useful and dangerous. For example if you go to fishing, you first lock the car, then unlock boot, then pack the key into waterproof bag and put it away. Then unpack your gear and just close the boot and walk away - car was already locked and boot locks itself after 10 seconds or so. Dangerous part is when you only unlock the boot, leave the keys into that and then close the hatch... And when you live in multi storey building, you could use it even as a parcel box. When a friend or a courier needs to give or get something, you can use your car boot - just open it through the flat window and hatch can be opened but not the whole car.

Useful if you're buying one second hand to make sure there isn't an unscrupulous dealer keeping a key to take your car back later.

    As you said there are a few secrets that are not Saab-exclusive. The pull-out button for left right adjustment of the sound is a feature that has been on radio's since the early days of stereo. It went a bit out of style when the menu steared sound systems became all the fashion. Menu operated change has of course no risc for static noise due to dirty potentio meters but is more or a hassle if you need to adjust often.

    the reason why the sunroof does not open all the way at first has to do with downfall. You will notice when you drive that when you have the sunroof fully open there is a lot of noise from wind downfall. You do not have downfall noise when it is opened almost fully in the first position. Opening the roof fully gives you a better escape in emergency situations (e.g. when you drive into water)

It is a set of lamps on the back of the car just inside the brake lights that turn on and stay on with the press of the right-hand fog light button on the left of the steering wheel in a left-side driving car. So, when someone approaches you at 150mph, they can see you.

    Follow me home also turns on your reverse lights. When you activate front windshield spray to clean the windshield the wipers should wipe once more a few seconds after wiping. I love my Automatic heated seats(not sure how they work but they turn on by themselves(requires a certain temperature). and they also turn themselves off(it also turns on or off according to presence of passenger) but not sure what also makes them stay on in much colder weather. What about the screwdrivers that come with the car? Or the hollow blocks on the bottom of the car specifically for your crank jack? There are quite a few features within the SID alone. There is also another thing. They courtesy seatbelt tone at 20mph and when you go around 40 it gives like a 5 beep reminder rather than Toyota's nonstop yelling at you for not wearing the seatbelt.it also tells you when your rear seats are unlatched. I'm also not sure what other cars use heat absorbing glass. The rear cupholders are within reach from the front without the need to pull down the armrest makes it convenient for me to bring drinks to a group. Headrests when down don't obstruct the rear windshield. Not sure if all All saabs had reflective panels(stickers) in the door that are visible when open so other vehicles going by can see you easier. The hood latch directly under the badge and all you need to do is lift up and it all goes together can save minutes from looking for a latch under the hood. I think it was clever. What other car unlocks then relocks the door if it'd already locked? These are the things that I noticed on my 9-3. The comfort open feature has to be programmed via tech II as well. Mine doesn't seem to have it. I heard that There is also some deadlock feature that when you program it, it locks the car and if you were to lock it again it disconnects the keyhole as well as the pins on the door so if someone were to pull up the pin they can't open the door. Sorry if this was a big read

    Question I have a 2010 93 awd/ I've been having starting issues. It cranks but will not start. Here's the kicker I'm smelling fuel when this happens. My mechanic suggested it could be my injectors but the saab dealer said it could be my ecu computer. Makes sense because the mechanic said my car was not comumicating and when this happens the computer tells the car to send fuel.. Now I'm told this part is on national backorder until January that 3 months from now. Suggestions on how I may get fixed before January? Any info would be helpful I miss my car after 3 weeks.
