Peter Cetera is another one of those unmistakable voices, as soon as you hear it you know who it is.
Facts!
Perfect
He has a crackin voice..would love Jayvon to listen to Lyin eyes and one of these nights by the Eagles..
@@kimmarievan-ever6599 I love the Eagles, but sadly You Tube will block any reactions to them.
@@robinqueen2311 shame..could you imagine his reaction to the riff at the begining of one of these nights!!! Would blow his mind..!
Maybe some
Hard Habit to Break and the Glory of Love.
Glory Of Love is Peter Cetera, but it isn't Chicago, it's Peter early in his solo career (the song was in the soundtrack from one of the Karate Kid movies). Great song. (Only Cetera number I ever tried at karaoke. Too high, of course...)
Peter Cetera has always had a beautiful voice.
After a stupid argument. My boyfriend in high school called a radio station and dedicated this song to me. ❣️❣️❣️
Awwwwww! 😂😂💖💖💖💖
Awww sweet!
My boyfriend my senior year of high school broke up and we reunited a couple years later. On our first date out second time round, he told me that song made him see he'd made a mistake breaking up with me the first time. We broke up again after about eight months tho cos he was still an asshole.
Yesss! I did radio station dedications too- me and 1 boyfriend in particular, literally went through ALL the Chicago 80’s love songs- (ironically enough- ) And we’d go back and forth every week and did other bands as well- those were the days- your heart would just melt when you heard that dedication- ❤️
Kimberlini Bambini
So true. I love that he did it. But, each moved on. I’ve been married to my husband now for 27 years and now proud grandparents. It’s nice to remember those times❣️
To me Peter Cetera has a very special kind of magical voice. Kind of like Phil Collins.
And Steve Perry. Unmistakable voices and talent.
Can't forget Whitney Houston
"If you leave me now". Was HUGE in the Netherlands.
This was about the time Chicago went soft 80s....still good stuff! "Hard Habit To Break" is along this same vibe.
If you leave me now, 1976
"Glory of Love" Peter Cetera
I just listened to my Chicago playlist on my plane flight to Utah. 90 minutes and I didn't get through it. And my list is only their best hits!
Music is the frequency to our souls.
You should do glory of love by this singer, peter cetera
Balance Daniel san.
That one is lovely, an awesome song.
@@VinzClorthokeymasterofGozer lmao yes
Oh yes
That's one of those movie themes we actually learned to play in my school band. XD (Another one was the Gremlins theme. NO REALLY.) I also have always liked the lyrics in that song; they're very like, adventurey and old-school fantasy quest stuff. Call me cheesy, but I like that kind of thing.
Short version, there is another longer version with horns blaring.
They had a bunch of hits in the 80’s that were in this style 💕
What a voice!
I do prefer the original Chicago sound, but he can sang.
My favorite Chicago song. When I listen to the audio version I prefer the album version accompanied by "Get Away." Other great Chicago songs are "If You Leave Me Now", "You're the Inspiration" and "Look Away."
If you want to hear a better ending, This song is associated with an ending called "Get Away." Listen to that version. You will be happy you did.
This band has always been unique. They do many different styles never sticking to any one. That is what made them great.
Chicago...25 or 6 to 4....
Love Me Tomorrow ...please..The lead singer is Peter Cetera.... the ending is not what's on the album it goes on a few more notes with the piano
I've done 25 or 6 to 4 I have it linked in the video
The reason that the song sounded clipped at the end is that it WAS clipped. The full song is ~5 minutes long. It is called "Hard to Say I'm Sorry/Get Away". I'd guess that the reason it was shortened was for radio play. The full song has the trumpets and full orchestration like their earlier songs. It is totally worth a listen.
Keep up the great work!
I listened to this over and over in high school when my boyfriend left for the Navy. 💔💔💔💔
😭😭😭😭😭
Yes! My boyfriend was military as well, when we met 26 years ago-
@Kim C Did you end up marrying him? I met a guy when he was in the Navy, and we ended up marrying. He stayed in the Navy 8 yrs, then got out ..and joined the Army. He is now a retired Army officer ..and we're still married 😊
Chicago during the "Fosterized" era not that that's a bad thing just different plus Peter's solo career is great as well "Glory of love" "The next time i fall" "Best of times" "One good woman" "Perfect World"
Ha. I was just thinking ‘this is the Fosterization of Chicago’
Produced by the legendary David Foster. Lead vocals by the amazing Peter Cetera. There is a beautiful re-release of this song from the 90’s by Peter Cetera with an r&b group called Az Yet, you would love it.
Definitely should listen to Chicago's "Does anybody really know what time it is" and "Beginnings"
I think 'Beginnings' is my very favorite Chicago song.
The original name of this band was Chicago Transit Authority. Needless to say, Chicago alone sounded good. They always had romantic songs.
I believe they were sued by the actual Chicago Transit Authority and were forced to change the name.
Takes me back to my teenage years slow dancing at parties, such a powerful ballad!
Terry Kath, the founding member, and apparently the genius behind the original band died in a freak gun accident that may or may not have been suicide. Not surprising their sound changed.
Add that their producer James Guerico stiffed them. He is fired. Phil Ramone lasts 2 albums. Tom Dowd 1 album. Drug and booze problems happen.
David Foster was young + on the rise. + he was a writer + pianist. DF brings in members of Toto + the Lionel Richie band.
You are correct, their sound was definitely switched up from the 70s to the 80s. David Foster had a lot to do that by emphasizing Peter Ceteras vocals and less horns. This caused some contention in the band.
I like If You Leave Me Now, but I don't know why they limited the horns, later. It was their sound.
I've always thought this song sounded too modern for 1982. It sounds more like a typical rock ballad from 1986 or 1987.
Jay, "Love me tomorrow and "If you leave me now " are wonderful songs that you'd enjoy listening to. Such loving and meaningful lyrics that Chicago puts out there.
Jay, "Just You And Me", "Saturday In The Park" should be next for you. Exceptional band. Such great horn section in many songs!
I love Chicago... The best of Chicago CD I think I had to buy 5 because I listened to it so much.
Summer of '82. I was in boot camp at Parris Island, SC and my high school crush sent me a letter where she wrote down the lyrics to a song that she really liked. On my home after boot camp, I stopped at a mall in Atlanta and bought the new Chicago cassette and the moment I heard this song I knew this was the song she mentioned in the letter.
Lovely story, thanks for sharing.
HUGE hit downunder! Thanks, JV! 💖💖💖👍
This version of Chicago sends me back to the 6th grade in the 80s. I can hear it at the roller rink: Couples only. Couples only skate
This song has such an odd ending in the single edit because on the album it runs directly into an outro section called "Get Away" so there is always this quick fadeout at the end with an unresolved sounding chord. I was always surprised they didn't make an edit with a better ending for the single since it was such a big hit. Look for Hard To Say I'm Sorry / Get Away if you want to hear the full version, it's just over 5 minutes.
The record companies often didn't give a slap when it came to the "radio" or "7-inch single" edits, as long as the result fit in the desired 3-to-4-minute time frame that radio stations wanted and which would fit easily on a 45RPM single. The original single edit of "Make Me Smile" sounds like someone sliced up the tape with a weed-whacker, threw out half the bits, then spliced the rest back together more or less at random.
The piano note that always brings me to tears every time is the one between "Everybody needs a Holiday..... And Far away from Each other!! Just makes the song..
Two favs from Chicago: Wishing You Were Here ( The Beach Boys do the back up vocals ) and No Tell Lover
Wishing You Were Here has such a haunting, wistful, soulful sound. It's a truly beautiful song. 💕💕💕
I love Chicago but Peter cetera has a voice that will take me through my chemo
Hi Mary. 10 months since your post, may I ask how you are?
This song spoke to me after I broke up with my high school sweetheart. We later had a fling of sorts, but I don’t think I ever made it up to him. 😢
Chicago is WAY untapped as far as reactions go... Keep going for a few songs with them!!! You won't regret it and very few have done it.
like Along Comes a Woman
YES!!!! 80's teenager here. LOVED Chicago 💜
The song still continues, that's why the ending sounded odd...the actual song is called "Hard to Say I'm Sorry/Get Away" because the ending goes crazy!!! It always gets cut off in videos and the radio. "Glory of Love" and "After All" (he did this one with Cher) and "Next Time I Fall" are great songs by him too
This has got to be my favourite song of all time. I can never tire from hearing it over and over and over... Yes, so easy to get lost in! 💗
Same!
Yup, my favorite secular song of all time too, since 1983
Everybody on earth has one person that they would love to rewind time and sing this song to from our past mistakes. The song gets me in the feels every time
"Look Away" and "I Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love" are 2 gems.
Thanks to you I finally found this song 🤣
This is one of my favorite song from the 80s.
My first love at 13 turned me on to Chicago. Memories, I'm now 65 and get chills when I hear them. Thanks for this jayvee.
This was Chicago's big come-back song. They were practically left for dead by the end of the 1970's only to come back with this hit in 1982. After this they kept having hits until they started to petered out well into the 1990s. They still put out new songs from time to time, but the radio stations won't play them.
Peter cetera had one of the greatest voices. Chicago wasn't the same when he left. Saw them in concert back in the 80's. One of the greatest concerts I ever saw.
Fact.
The following songs have the same guitarist... Ma man, my friend Steve Lukather:
This one
Beat it ( Eddie did only the solo)
Billie Jean
Human nature ( all Thriller was recorded by his band Toto)
Turn back time - Cher
Physical - Olivia Newton John
Say say say - Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson
Realce - Gilberto Gil
Arthur's Theme - Christopher Cross
And about 1000 songs more ( yep )
Also in 1982, he + David Paich played with Donna Summer. 1983, her again!, + The Tubes, SL cowriting She's a Beauty.
"Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?"......a big Chicago hit!!!😉😉😉🎶🎼🎵🤟 Every time you say "you know what time it is"...I think of this song!!! Enjoy!!
If you Leave me Now is my favorite song by Chicago.
This is one of there best songs that I really like! Peter vocals are so solid! It's a sexy song also!
Boy I used to listen to this song over and over back in the day. Love Peter Cetera, please try Glory of Love
Chicago what a great group, I’ve been lucky to see them in concert twice
Stunning voice and very recognisable.
I'm always in the mood for Chicago.
You can NEVER go wrong with a Chicago hit, (cause they were all HITS)......Peter Cetera is a master with handling a song. I LOVE Chicago!!! Great reaction.
The thing I like about you is, you find something to like about every song you hear, & you should cause these are great songs...
Chicago Orchestra!!! Fantastic!!!
Oh this song..... have listened 1000x to his performance on David Foster's show... what a voice and still just as good.
Voices and harmonies are simply spectacular! A massive hit back in the day!!
How many times a sang this song and swooned 💗. Alot of die hard Chicago followers didn't care much for 80s ballads but I love them 🔥
They sure can write songs in the 80's & 90's. Each one has a story. I sure miss those days
Chicago is always a sure bet when it comes to great music and harmony and instruments.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH....when everything bursts forth gloriously at the beginning of the second verse.
MY fav part too! right before he paused it-
Hard to describe how great this song was (still is) when it came out in the summer of 82. Lot of younger people didn't know any Chicago even though this Hard to Say was on their 16th album. They had already charted great tunes like Saturday in the Park, Color My World, I'm a Man, Does Anyone Know What Time it Is, Just You and Me, and ***If You Leave Me Now.**** (Check that one out!) Hard to Say I'm Sorry was/is perfection.
This song made me broke into tears.
Inspiration. Can’t listen to Chicago without crying. Too much pain. Too many memories. So many regrets.
Saw Peter a couple of yrs. ago in concert , he still has that great voice.
Bro, check out another hit: "Hard Habit to Break."
Yes! I requested it too!!
I absolutely loved this band.
Peter’s not only a great singer but an underrated bass player. This song doesn’t really get to show off his bass skills, but he’s really good.
I saw Chicago and EWF IN CONCERT! Great, great concert. I will never forget it.
That song was featured towards the end of an 80s movie called Summer Lovers. I hear this song, that is what I think of and as the song ends it rolls right into another more upbeat Chicago tune to finish the movie.
There was 2 Chicago groups. The original had Terry Kath on guitar and after his tragic death, the band went to commercial love songs. They were most definitely a rock band at their origination. Peter Cetera also sang lead on 25 or 6 to 4, he later left for a solo career.
This is the theme song from a movie called Summer Lovers with Daryl Hannah and Peter Gallagher.
Chicago is my most favorite. Old old old Grandma here.
Peter Cetera did such a beautiful job singing this song. He sounds so passionate. Umm! Beautiful. Just beautiful.
The Flower 🌹
This song brings back my teenage years
One of my favorites
I had the best music as a teen growing up! Love the 80’s and I saw Chicago in concert up front!! Amazing!!
Brings back soooo many memories....like for a lost love I’m hoping to find again.....💕
My all time favorite band. Great talent and harmony. Musicians all blend in so well. Peter Cetera has the perfect voice for them too. Soon after this - I believe he went solo and his popularity remains strong - even today.
Omg. I needed to hear this song again. SO AMAZING. This is what true commitment is.
Peter Cetera, Frankie Valli, Phil Collins, and Steve Perry have some of the most beautiful and distinctive voices. You always recognize each as soon as you hear them. Michael McDonald is another one.
Chicago has so many great classic songs to enjoy
I loved both of Chicago's sounds. pre-80's, and 80's. You Are On My Mind, If You Leave Me Now, and You're The Inspiration are all great songs.
You have to check out Chicago's #1 hit from 1976, "If You Leave Me Now." I was only 4 when it came out, but it's one of those songs that had a huge impact on me as a li'l kid. It's one of the reasons I love sad songs to this day. The other one is "I Go Crazy" by Paul Davis.
This song featured in the movie Summer Lovers. Beautiful love story set in the Greek islands.
Yes i know what time it is...5am and I have woken at 3 with pain in leg ..here i am listening to this ..love this song.. UK
Trust me back in the day a lot of kids were born because of Peter cetera you popped one of tapes in and he started singing and instant romance started he is the smoothest cat ever fact.
These guys have come to work, this is the back of beyond! So very nice.
This was one of David Foster's productions. He wrote and produced it. He wanted to change the band, quiet the horns and make Peter the only front man and when they said no. Peter left
"I felt like it ended too soon." You're right, on the album it segues into "Get Away" a short but amazing rocker with a wonderful horn section. Do yourself a favor and check out the album version.
Chicago is one of my favorite bands always love their music
Epic love ballad from Chicago, Peter Cetera is an American treasure, fantastic song writer singer...
One of the really great bands! J.V., "Whishing you where here", "I've been searching so long", "Beginings", "Call on me", "Make me smile", "Feeling stronger every day", Just You'n me", "Saturday in the park"...are just a few suggestions from the early hits.
Chicago is awesome
Of all the singers & bands during my lifetime. I am now 71 years old. We were blessed with “two voices” of a generation: Peter Cetera & Karen Carpenter. Both so unique, such clarity & talent. You only have to listen to either of them singing 2-3 words of their songs & you instantly knew that’s Peter or that’s Karen.
