He is one of my clarinet heroes,my inspiration . Now he is more than 70s, made a great recording for over past 40 years ++ million clarinetists Knew him , He is a Living legend
why so many negative comments. I guess the hall has a very dry acoustic and i don't think the mic volume is on correctly. Some flaws but if u put the clarinet playing aside and listening to the music, u will enjoy it.
The man is almost 70 years old there and clearly has issues with his hands and facial muscle strength. Give him a bit of respect. He is a living legend.
Even at his peak, Stoltzman wasn't remotely the world's greatest clarinetist, but a very good one and an interesting musician who should be admired for having made for himself quite an interesting career. I've liked many of his recordings, especially of less mainstream repertoire. Here he's definitely less than his best, but I have to admire his having memorized this amazing piece.
First, I appreciate his style of playing, but I hate it. Second, Stanley Hasty arranged this piece... not Stoltzman. To be honest, I personally believe that this does injustice to Bach, but to each their own.

Seriously! I find the performance expressive, sensitive and extremely well-adapted to the medium. This is an extraordinary performance!

Grande clarinettista.....meraviglioso artista....
I think this is amazing.
He is old. I hope I'm still able to play when I get that old.

I think he is 68 in this video.
double lip has more flexibility to produce something more than just the clarinet tone.
Pros and cons i guess.
uno dei miei eroi giovanili..poteva farne a meno. rispetto per ciò che è stato
I must be a joke. "finest clarinetist on the planet"??!!
I fail to enjoy Richard Stoltzman's playing.... I just can't stand it. But nonetheless better then me so...... props from me as well!

I'm sure you can do much, much better.
