I don't think Matip gets the praise he deserves. He is quite a good dribbler especially when he drives the ball forward. City had the edge to finish this liverpool had a few breaks on the counter but came to nothing I'll take a point anyday ❤️🤝💙
Don’t think Doku necessarily “cooked” Trent like most people are making it out to be. Most of the time he got past Trent he wasn’t really dangerous in anyway because he was shown to the byline or on the outside which forced him to cross the ball on his left foot(which you touched on) which I think Trent really did a good job on. And most of the time even Trent recovered when doku got past him. Me personally I think the game plan for doku was for Trent to just show him to the outside and not let him come inside which he didn’t come inside sometimes but wasn’t really threatening because he didn’t take no shots which baffled me a bit(that’s one thing he can improve on in his game). In general I think Trent did pretty well.
On any other day Alisson would have not given away the ball and Salah would have been through. I think south americans after international break have some timing and climate issues. Man city were also not at there best. Overall a entertaining game of football♥️⚽
The same allison who passed from debryune freekick to salah winner last season and important clearance from haaland which led to the trent goal is weak under pressure eh😂😂
@@omalone1169 we made so much poor decisions in the final third. Passing when we should be shooting and shooting when we should be passing. We cut them on the counter so many times but it all went to nothing
But two of the biggest chances (chances with very high EG came from Alisson's mistakes. Liverpool looked tired and not up for the game. Rodri, Akanji and Haaland looked way sharper than any of the liverpool player.
I think pep was making advantage of of Trent weakness in defending by creating overload against him with Silva and doku. Trent was fine defending both Silva and doku in first 10mins but his attacking movements and inverting into the midfield help doku to create several problems for Liverpool.
But Doku can't pass or shoot the ball accurately, which is why all his attacks on this match went nowhere. His speed and dribbling are good, but that's it
In this type of matches grealish is required in the wing for control. Doku should start on the other matches but for these matches, I think grealish requires game time. He is perfectly suited for guardiola's tactics.

City constantly got space in midfield whenever the ball gets to Doku, Liverpool had to double up on him with a midfielder or salah joining and that left space for Rodri Akanji and Bernardo Silva consistently. In short it was a very interesting game of football to watch
I thought the opposite was happening - Liverpool were letting Doku have the ball in transition over Silva and Foden etc. until they got back into their block as he’s less of a threat.
It was City’s game plan to get the ball to Doku, he was their main man in the attacking line they want to get him in 1v1 situations with Trent as often as possible and it was very obvious as over 40% of their attack came from the left hand channel. Doku could have scored and he could have gotten himself an assist as well few seconds before Liverpool scored. Doku was the biggest threat just like Grealish was the biggest threat last season at Ethiad and Liverpool suffered a 4-1 defeat
@@Fon_pod I think Silva was their biggest threat, Doku was always just the free man and easy pass because Liverpool wanted to funnel city wide instead of central in transition.
Great analysis as always... the reason this system has been so effective since Pep introduced it last season is largely due to one man : Bernardo Silva. This guy's just unbelievable. If the opposition's winger looks to press City's outer CB when City have the ball, Bernardo drops into this "pseudo-left back" role, to allow for an overload on that side of the pitch during City's build up. Also, during the attack when City's left winger is 1v1 with the opposition's right full back, he's always available to make the underlapping run that we've seen so many times over the years. Add to that the fact that he doesn't stop running all game and you have a player whose value goes far beyond just goal and assist contributions... praises will go to the Haalands and the De Bruynes of this world, but Silva's importance cant be overstated 👏🏽
I think Doku dribbled so many times because he was allowed to. They were always going to try to go from the left, but Doku in the end was always shepherded in very obvious directions by Trent, allowing Matip or Alisson to cover. Klopp a 6? Don't be daft, he even went a 4-2-4 formation to get the equaliser, away at the etihad that takes balls, klopp a 9 for a tactical masterclass.
For me Liverpool were the better side, they locked City down and stopped them from being comfortable. Whereas when Liverpool were on the counter it just seemed to unsettle City. City weren’t comfortable at all McAllister was the best player on that pitch, Salah will always be a menace
Why didn't Klopp start with Endo, a specialist No.6 with Macallister on his right and Szobozlai left. Why is he persisting with using Macallister there when he was bought in the strength of his performances as a 10?
That was a plan, klopp isn’t a newbie who would give trent the job to stop doku, it was part of the plan to let him dribble and guide him into pile of defenders, klopp nailed his plan, but casual football fans won’t see it. Trent did what klopp asked him to
Disagree here, definitely upgrade from last season. About this game, there are reasons why the score just 1-1, and that's not only because city players can't finish. Also you have to remember almost all liverpool players play in international break for their countries, meanwhile many city's players get enough rest because they "injured"

Thats a cool tactical analysis and all but if Nunez didnt have the football IQ of my dead grandma liverpool would have won this match. Dude's mom explodes if he doesnt shoot in a closed angle with 0 chance of scoring. At some point there were THREE reds free in the middle of the penalty area and he prefered shooting on ederson who was already on him in a closed angle... so the goal was open and he just had to pass backwards to 100% score... several bad first touches too ruining good plays.

Honest opinion, only way to beat City is by copying City
Doku and pray Vs Salah and pray
Interesting game, You can kinda feel manchester being more complete but still cool liverpool can draw, If they were more lethal in the final third they'd be closer to MC. MC have all that lethality, more versatility and even with akanji over stones their build-up was less reliant on context specific countermeasures & still more efficent. Granted it drew because they just couldn't quite convert a 2nd goal before liverpool got lucky. if they nailed in the 2nd I bet it woulda been 2-0, but that defense line-up scary af.
Competing with MCC RN alone is an incredible accomplishment, they should be proud, pep shouldn't have much to say despite the fact he kinda took the L.
You still owe Arsenal fans an analysis after we beat City last month..
Person error.
Nice
Although it's only a draw city should win this game.
They could not
you should go win it for them , dimwit
City's tactic was give the ball to Doku and wait for his lower crosses and Haaland will tap-in. that's why Doku had higher touches. The difference it would have made if Silva was a Liverpool player and Jones a city player🙄
If that could work Liverpool will be relegated... Matip and VVD are capable enough to defend those crosses with Alison help.
Bias tactical review. 90% focus on man city
Dokus main problem is his end product and stubbornness of not finding Haaland.
As a city fan, that absolutely felt like a loss
OK 👍👍👌👌 Halland make much diference
Bernado Silva
We go again 10/03/24
City won 23 times in a row here, it's difficult to play here
Madrid , Bayern and Arsenal got destroyed there in that 23 streak , It’s a very good point for Liverpool .

Liverpool could have win this match if they had the goalkeeper of City.
Lol
🔥
City weren’t comfortable at all
McAllister was the best player on that pitch, Salah will always be a menace
@datanash8200 is that you?!
Trent’s goal won’t fool me, Pep managed a 4-0 battering, play that game 10 times City wins 9, Liverpool draw 1
Shitty comment 😅
If you actually watch football, they have already played 10 times and they have failed to do what you’re saying…
Stop feeding your ego with no sense 😅
If and if .
you’re a fool already
Why didn't Klopp start with Endo, a specialist No.6 with Macallister on his right and Szobozlai left. Why is he persisting with using Macallister there when he was bought in the strength of his performances as a 10?
Same question i ask myself too everyday
Trent was lucky to not be absolutely bodied by Doku, he had some world class cover today...
Doku is terrifying. Every time he had the ball on the wing I was sweating bullets.
not really, considering his opposition he dealt with him pretty well. As for world class cover, that just proves the system works...
That was a plan, klopp isn’t a newbie who would give trent the job to stop doku, it was part of the plan to let him dribble and guide him into pile of defenders, klopp nailed his plan, but casual football fans won’t see it. Trent did what klopp asked him to
Doku is unstoppable. Specially when him and bernardo team up on the left side
@@ssaad550and yet they stopped them
Liverpool has a big downgrade from the start of the season.
Disagree here, definitely upgrade from last season. About this game, there are reasons why the score just 1-1, and that's not only because city players can't finish. Also you have to remember almost all liverpool players play in international break for their countries, meanwhile many city's players get enough rest because they "injured"
You couldn’t be more wrong , the only good team they haven’t played is Arsenal in just 13 games and they got 28 points is this a downgrade for you lol , open your eyes .
❤
City was unlucky

Thats a cool tactical analysis and all but if Nunez didnt have the football IQ of my dead grandma liverpool would have won this match.
Dude's mom explodes if he doesnt shoot in a closed angle with 0 chance of scoring. At some point there were THREE reds free in the middle of the penalty area and he prefered shooting on ederson who was already on him in a closed angle... so the goal was open and he just had to pass backwards to 100% score... several bad first touches too ruining good plays.
This is why I miss Bobby Firmino. He was intelligent and clinical in passing to his mates - Salah & Manè. Nuñez has explosive speed & power, but zero intelligence..🤷🏾♀️‼️

City is the strongest where Liverpool are all average players
There is no comparison
Still they are able to pull a draw with decent defending
And in this video all I get to hear is the greatness of city players 😂😂
Nothing new they play good and similar football every time
You could have explained how Liverpool was able to pull of such a good game against the strongest team

Salah is mad overrated. His decision making is suspect.

1. Klopp is the best coach in the world. You don't even need ti be te technically gifted to play in his midfield. A simple long ball and considerable solid stamina will do. You don't even have to be good. A player in Austrian 2nd league can easily play there.
2. Guardiola is back to his old ways of screwing things iver for his own players
3. Alvarez is not a good athlete. Does not impact games as much as he should

5. Joel Matip is an underrated player
6. Mo Salah is an incredibly overrated player

City were the best side .they couldve won the game by almost 4 goals..too bad they didn't convert chances, despite that they were still robbed by referee and Liverpool but that's how it is nowadays in epl.. very inconsistent
That's a foul on the goalkeeper
liverpool also had like 4 chances, but city were overall the better side. Stop moaning about the referees, the goal was correctly disallowed, you don't push the keeper mid jump without a foul.
@@mobiustriple they had 2 chances, one by Nunes header and the second is the goal
@@mohamedchaf20 there was also the mistake from ederson, several times jota was in the box, nunez with the shot off target. The official count is 8 shots, 3 on goal. Where you're getting 2 is beyond me.
@@mohamedchaf20don’t forget the save by Ederson from Nunez
Doku looks like Mr Eko in lost
Pushing through Walker is pretty useless, they tried so many times
You don't really get football do you? The goal for Liverpool originally started when diaz took on walker. He was just lucky that we couldn't start diaz as he was already too worked up from the international break and we had to go with jota. If we had started diaz, the match would've been much different
@@ssaad550 Nah starting Jota was imo pretty smart. He helps a lot defensively compared to diaz, his dribbling style is different to diaz which I would argue works better to a certain extent because pace for pace walker beats diaz 8/10 times. Jota kind of glides and would have worked so much better if darwin's hold up play was better because jota is clinical. Jota is also supermely better than diaz in the air which is not walker's strong suit. Finally Lucho coming on late is better against a tired walker and his cross was pretty fortunate.
