I just picked up one of these tonight using the annual passholder discount. I got a crystal, the stand, and one of the crystal trays for $60 with tax. It's cool, and I'll have it displayed in my office with my Savi's lightsaber.
Ive returned a faulty Mouse Droid (sound died) with no package or receipt. Called customer service. They sent me a shipping label and I just sent back the defective unit and they sent me a working Mouse Droid. Theyre pretty good about replacements. Itll just take a few weeks.
I snatched up 4 holders, and a ton of kyber trays, while we were on Batuu May 4th. I think they're pretty good. First off, because Disney sold them in bubble wrap, not a box, 3 out of the 4 stands had one or more of the little clear bits break off that the saber rests on. Easily glued back on, but still not cool. Several of my kyber trays are also fussy--a couple of them also have the light on full-time. Not a big deal, as you'll either display them with kybers anyway, fully lit up, or (more likely) turn the whole thing off most of the time. I honestly don't know why there's the extra expense of light sensors in them. You're not going to display an empty kyber tray, where you care if it's lit up on not. They should ditch the costly (and finicky) light sensor and just have them lit up whenever the stand is lit up. Is the $50 basic stand reasonable? Yes--it's decent quality, and including features like the accent lights and sliding holders, it's good. The kyber trays are outrageous priced.
For the price it should be better. I bought one this past weekend. IT SHOULD use the RFID in the saber to light the same color as what you have in your saber. The trays should do the same. Then it would really be cool. The lights should also extend to the white plastic clear holder tips where the saber sits. And last but not least, I would love to put this on a timer power outlet so it just turns on in my room like my Lego Star Wars builds, but you have to press the color button on the back to get it to light up even if you have the power switch set to on. Lame. Could be better....it is a beginning of a great stand.
I also wanted to make a stand with integrated lighting for the Crystals. In the first attempt, I wanted to query the rfid code of the crystal to let the led light up in the right color. But the crystals are much too close for that and you constantly get interference signals from the neighboring crystals. Since this didn't work, I wanted to use a sensor to determine the color of the crystal. That was also very inaccurate. That's why disney only makes a proximity sensor which then controls the lamps. $13 a bowl seems a lot to me.
The stand really looks like it was made for double-bladed sabers as it offers a nice balance and adjustability. For a single saber I'm mixed on it as I think it'll look better with some designs vs others (such as the shiny High Republic look of Protection & Defense v2 matched with the old silver stand)
The older stands they sold are TERRIBLE and I have lots of issues with my hilts staying on those stands and not falling off if the table gets bumped a tiny bit. Hopefully these hold better.......
Maybe you need a Stamp of Meh? It's a shame that there were issues with it, this was something I was really excited about among the new merch. (I actually liked the original stand, but this definitely feels more Savi-themed). Maybe I should invest in a 3D printer... I do like how adjustable the stand is, though.
I'm going again in a couple weeks, gonna nab me a BD unit and the stand. I don't like the light up crystal thingies so I'm saving there lol Stand is neat though, does look like the one from survivor (which I still haven't finished!)
It's a nice change for new stand. Except it's heavy, not a rechargeable function. And I noticed my stand's legs are not balanced .. But thanks to this video, I finally know the legs can be adjusted 😅 Other than that, love the stand design. But the quality of the price is more like a 30~40 dollar one. Well.. compare to holocron and wayfinder that is.. One design flaw is the power input is the same side with the switch buttons. Kinda uncomfortable for wall display unless it's a long cable.
I’ve been wanting a display for my lightsaber and crystals, especially one that lights up the crystals. However I don’t like how loose the crystals are, my cat would knock those out for sure.
It's a pretty stand, but I see several stands on Etsy that look nice are much more reasonably priced. I also don't like that half of your kyber holders are faulty. That's a serious quality control issue.
I thought there were seven lightsaber crystals.... just one is VERY rare - the Black Kyber Crystal. But as far as the stand goes, there's alot of 3d printed files, or even people on Etsy that makes various stands. And making a stand that lights up, you can probably either make a channel around the edge of the stand and make some kind of cover or make a translucent section around the edge and feed a color LED strip around the edge or get some fairy lights that have a remote color change that gives more color options. If any of that makes any sense.
I like it. I’m going to DL soon and am seriously considering it. I have the old stand. The plastic tabs that hold light saber in place stretch over time and fail to hold the light saber in place. 👎
Love this video. Is there a 3D printer you would recommend? My son and I each bought one and thinking we are going to trick ours out with more lighting strips.
Dan-o at around 11:00 min mark, as you explain pricing you’ll notice one of the three you said never turns off is actually off when you turn the base on, only the last two are lit up. Maybe it’s a connector issue?
@@Dan-O I watched the video, what I’m saying is at the 11min mark in you video you plug it in and one of the ones you stated “never switches off” is in fact switched off! Watch your video again. It wasn’t a dig at you, I was merely pointing out one had started to work. The other two (furthest out towards the edge - camera side) are still lit up, that 3rd one though isn’t. That to me says a lose connector not a dodgy sensor. Was only looking to help.
@@stevefindlater302 no I understand. But what may not come through in the video is how touchy they are. And the fact that I was filming on essentially a giant mouse pad. They blink/act funny/turn off/on. when moved even slightly jostled. But do rest assured though they’re broken. 😅 appreciate the help.
I bought a stand the day after they were released when I was down there and didn't actually know they were new till later. There was literally no information on the web anywhere about them at that time but I wanted to try and know more about it.. I wish I knew about the crystal stands in the store while I was down there I would have grabbed some along with the extra color crystals. Just curious. I was trying to figure out why there's 11 spots for only at max 6-7 crystals (right now). Do you know if there's plans for some accessories or something that will attach later? Or possibly they're just other spots to space out the crystals in whatever design you prefer? The wording on the instructions make me wonder if there are four additional accessories that might come out of not already out since it said a total of 11.
There are technically 19 different crystals you could get from Disney if you’re counting different voices/cuts, soo none of it makes sense as far as the numbers go. I think it’s just a matter of space and nothing to do with future products.

Speaking of quality control issues, my wife’s saber kept draining its battery in a day, Disney was cool enough to send a whole new chassis, but it still happens. Has anyone heard of saber switches going into the off position but still drawing power? It’s the last thing I can think of as an issue, but am worried about opening it up if it isn’t.
the Crystals being in the chamber can drain the battery. There is a small magnet in the switch and it only needs to move a few mm to trigger the switch to on. If it's built slightly off it can affect how the switch works.
@@Dan-O that’s what I had thought! We have it on a display shelf and kept a Crystal in so it could be turned on periodically, but when it was dying even in the off position I thought maybe it was the switch itself. Have you had any experience or heard stories of taking one apart to fix the magnet? Or is it too difficult to do and it’d be better to just leave the crystal out? Also, really love the channel! Wife found it when we built our first droids, and I keep coming back here for all the park and merch news!
@@herogear_art I've only placed the magnet when making a 3d printed switch piece. But looking at a switch right now it looks like 4 little screws. Shouldn't be too difficult
I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I would have tested it out in my hotel, hope Disney do the right thing and replace the detective parts. Overall I'd give it rad on concept, and sad on price!
was just there at Disneyland last week and somehow missed this :( any idea of whether Disney will put the stand on their online store? Not ready to pay ebay prices...
That's always tough to tell. They do things weird at ShopDisney... Just last week they finally added Holocrons and some Kyber Crystals (not all) and those products were from back in 2019. We won't know until it just shows up one day, if it ever does.
A- they’ve only been out for a little bit, you should have no problem returning them. B- are they only on when the units on? Not the functionality you expect… But acceptable in my book.
Yeah it’s not the worst case that’s for sure. The very heard some peoples don’t light up at all. Mine just light up when it’s on and the sensor is broken. Not the end of the world.
If only a person could just buy 3 more without having to make a trip to the parks and buy a park ticket, hotel, meals etc… not worth the hassle for me to cross state lines to do that.
🤷🏽♂️ I don’t know. Not even sure what I recorded.😅 I’m finally home for a few weeks but not sure what kind of content will come from that trip yet. I’ve got other timely stuff that will probably come out first.
Hey Dan-o! Wreck-It Ralph here, so I’m a major Jedi fallen order/survivor fan. I got the first Cal Kestis savor both sides of it so I get to make a saber staff and I was disappointed because it was too short for an adult to really utilize correctly and way too heavy for a child, so I was thinking who are they making this for!? They need a better connector or an extender… so when they came out with this stand, I was kind of stoked, but I’ve seen a lot of reviews and it just seems like it’s over priced and the quality is lacking. I feel like this sadly sort of sums up what is happening with Disney as a whole and more specifically Star Wars/Star Wars galaxies edge. Like you say, you can get better sabers for about the same money. I don’t know it just seems like Disney is being …wait for it…a Moof Milker!!!! Lol
$20 in like 2005 maybe. $20 doesn’t by shit these days 😅 $50 is overpriced for sure, it’s metal and has electronics so I think a fair markup would bring it to $35-40 the little Kyber holders $8-10 would make more sense in 2023 money.
I like the stand...just wish the little clear parts that holds the hilt lit up as well
It’s flickering because it’s picking up the IR light one your phones camera. It’s used for the phones autofocus. They flicker in night vision
