This magnificent tuba was made in May of 2011 in the Custom Shop of the Saitama factory near Tokyo and was originally shown at the first National Brass Symposium in Atlanta in June of 2011. Later that month it was sold to Dillon Music in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
Mike Bunn bought it from them and performed with it regularly in the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra for about eleven years until he retired. He put it on consignment at Dillon and I bought it from them.
It is easily the best tuba I have ever played, much less been fortunate enough to own. I love this big beastie. It has a lot of missing silver plating and several dents in the bottom bow guard cap but is in an otherwise beautiful condition.
