I was waiting for this segment to drop - just to see Brockman's reaction. It's like his birthday, Christmas, and getting a wish from the magic genie all in one.
They must have been planning this one for weeks, and that's why they gave Jerrod Mayo the boot so quick. Now for Will Levis to stump for Mayo to join the Titans coaching staff. He has no idea what he can do, he just heard Mayo was available and went nuts.
They are. Vrabel was kicked out of the Titans because the front office was making decisions that Vrabel disagreed with (trading AJ Brown). They undercut him and when he pushed back they kicked him to the curb. I doubt the same thing will happen in New England because he is basically like a son to Robert Kraft.
The real question is why are they calling him "CEO type". The anecdote Rich shares about AJ tells me Vrabel was nowhere near the CEO type in his previous HC gig and I don't know why they now refer to him as that, and why they think the Patriots who didn't want Bill because he was the defacto CEO will revert to that. Attitude reflects leadership. Guy is a handful of games above .500 and they are head over heel. Derrick Henry carried this man head coaching career and he didn’t get a job last year because his mediocre. I have my popcorn ready when it’s time to abandon ship.
That’s a fair assessment, but tbh Henry carried the entire offense. They had the most mid of mid QBs in Tannehill. They had no business winning as much as they did. Their defense was also really good for a while too which is his bread and butter. There’s no telling how his stint with NE will go but I know he’ll for sure get more of a chance than Mayo got
I want Patriots perform terrible only during regular season games when the game clock is running, 17 hours a year. The other 364+ days they can be good W
We’ll see how Vrabel handles the quarterbacks situation. He better do a better job than he did with the Titans or the whole thing will gonowhere and fast.
Best hire this year. It'll be hilarious for this to be overshadowed by the idiotic bluster that Deion will bring to the Cowboys or whatever team is dumb enough to sign in. You can steal talent in the college transfer portal and field a middling Big 12 team, but good luck in a big-boy league with salary caps, contracts, and pro players that won't tolerate Deions antics. Now NE needs to avoid dealing with Deions products- I don't care how talented Hunter is- stay away. And Shedeur... lol, please stop.
Oh gosh the roaches are coming out of the woodwork. Prime is not going to the NFL and I’d be shocked if any of his people even sniff at NE. There’s no way he’d be ok with Hunter going there.
The moment Vrabel brings in his buddies like Todd Downing, Tim Kelly, Keith Carter, his strength/conditioning staff, we will all laugh our rear ends off. Vrabel inherited a divisional playoff team in Tennessee. Let’s see what he does with a 4-13 team
Hope that won't happen. I think the current strength and conditioning coach (Jerod's brother Deron) will be gone, and the new coach will (better) have better processes and buy-in to keep guys in proper physical shape. That should cut down on injuries and lead to better play.
Seems like Brockman doesn't care that the Patriots ignored all rules in place to give candidates a chance. Of course he doesn't. They fired Mayo when Vrabel said he'd coach again, and we all know it.
They didn't give mayo a fair chance with a bum roster and a decent quarterback in may they can hire Vrabel if he have multiple seasons and still have a losing record that will mean like i know it was the tom brady way that carried that franchise period
I think brockman and everyone saw that mayo sucked as a coach, it was obvious to everyone but you and the 4 people who liked your comment. So it seems like you ignored how lost he was as a coach. Good player though
@thomasjgour4678 like I said they didn't give mayo a fare shake and Mike won't do anything for the patriots either but enjoy been in the seller for a long time with out the true winner of that franchise Tom Brady

Rich looking fit these days. Can’t wait to see how he times in his 40 this year
Lol it's like we not only got the coach we wanted, we pulled one over the Jets AGAIN
Go Pats!
Pats could be next years chargers, Vrabel getting them +5 or 6 wins
precisely my thought, as a chargers fan
This feels like a great hire. I’m not sure why it didn’t happen last year tho
Mayo had it in his contract he would get a head coaching job.
TJ asking why the Patriot way gotta be white Rich.
"He becomes the first head coach to win a super bowl for a team and then come back to coach said team since Art Shell." Ummmmmmm How about Jarod Mayo last year who won a superbowl for the Patriots and then coached them?????
Who?
Jerod* Mayo
We should have kept Bill 🤷🏾♂️😂
THE PRODIGAL SON RETURNS!!!! The only thing better would have been if No. 12 walked through the door..
The "soft" comment was earned. Mayo screwed up in many areas, but that was accurate. If you're a Pat's fan, and THAT lost you, YOU are soft.
Jerod mayo won a super bowl and came back to coach the team ?
He’s no Dan Campbell but he seems like a good hire for NE.
You're right , he was twice the player.
4-5 games max.
I have no idea why they didn't do so this last year.
I want Patriots perform terrible only during regular season games when the game clock is running, 17 hours a year. The other 364+ days they can be good W
We’ll see how Vrabel handles the quarterbacks situation. He better do a better job than he did with the Titans or the whole thing will gonowhere and fast.
Don’t understand this . They are set at quarterback Tennessee never was
@@terrancewatson7183are they set though. Time will tell I guess
Rich that’s BS you popping,Mayo was put there to Failed and this same like it was setup by Mr Kraft
You should try that again in english
Best hire this year. It'll be hilarious for this to be overshadowed by the idiotic bluster that Deion will bring to the Cowboys or whatever team is dumb enough to sign in. You can steal talent in the college transfer portal and field a middling Big 12 team, but good luck in a big-boy league with salary caps, contracts, and pro players that won't tolerate Deions antics. Now NE needs to avoid dealing with Deions products- I don't care how talented Hunter is- stay away. And Shedeur... lol, please stop.
Vabril doesn't have Henry's back to ride and doesn't have Brown to save him anymore.
Prime time lives in your head, huh?
This coach could win a superbowl soon. And you can only think about Deon. That's sooo cute🥰
Oh gosh the roaches are coming out of the woodwork. Prime is not going to the NFL and I’d be shocked if any of his people even sniff at NE. There’s no way he’d be ok with Hunter going there.
They will be searching for another coach in about 2-3 years. Vrabel is overrated.
Go Pats ! ! ! ! ! ! !
And how is Tennessee doing now?
@ crap because we don’t have a qb. Not because Vrabel isn’t here. Good luck with run run pass Punt offenses
Vrabel was going to Pats by wk. 17.
We will all know the players have bought into Vrabel's coaching model when the injured reserve list gets longer and longer.
Hope that won't happen. I think the current strength and conditioning coach (Jerod's brother Deron) will be gone, and the new coach will (better) have better processes and buy-in to keep guys in proper physical shape. That should cut down on injuries and lead to better play.
Christmas in January ❤
Seems like Brockman doesn't care that the Patriots ignored all rules in place to give candidates a chance. Of course he doesn't.
They fired Mayo when Vrabel said he'd coach again, and we all know it.
They didn't give mayo a fair chance with a bum roster and a decent quarterback in may they can hire Vrabel if he have multiple seasons and still have a losing record that will mean like i know it was the tom brady way that carried that franchise period
Farthest thing from a Patriots fan, but they did meet all Rooney Rule requirements. Great hire for them.
Kraft's plan post Bellichick: hire old Pat's linebackers as HC 🤔 Ted Johnson next?
