      Thank you as always! This product is definitely entry level for people with an entry level DSP that need something with digital outputs

      @@CarAudioHorizons yes! correctly there are a plethora of low cost dsp on the market and this device is a perfect match.

    I have been testing these for a bit. I have used ipad, iphone and my LG V60 with apple music lossless. This little guy only spits out the digital signal. Nothing added or lost. I did have issues with 24bit/192khz when using ios devices. Remember this is not a DAC. When using this piece the DSP is going to do the work. So tuning will be at the DSP. The topping and fios are full DACS so they have a signature to them. I have also tried other dongle dacs and I prefer to this for just a straight digital out. No frills. Does the job and well.

      ALL DEVICES ARE NOT CREATED EQUALLY!
      One thing you have to remember is every device has a sound signature regardless of whether it has a DAC or not out of the digital outputs. If you have been testing these types of products you would know this. It has nothing to do with the DAC as it’s not being used when using the digital outputs with regards to any products Fiio, Topping, Ifi, etc..
      Easy examples are the Fiio DAP’s. Go test those through the Coaxial Digital outputs and you will hear each device has it’s own unique sound signature and are not even close to sounding the same.

      Si quitas parte proporcional del dac que tienen, mas un montón de chorradas que tienen, se queda con mismo precio que el smsl, contra menos cosas en una caja, mejor para el sonido ❗️❗️❗️

      @@CarAudioHorizons This could be true for all devices with a DAC as the files internally could go to internal DAC 1st and then being pushed out via the DAPS Digital out by going through a ADC. If that is the signal path then yes you would have some sonic coloring or varience in sound. The PO100 is really just a enterface that uses a XMOS dgital clock to encode the signal out to COAX/SPDIF out. Using a more complex DAC unit would provide for a certain sound signature prior to going into the DSP. So I do agree with you that those devices will sound different. I would prefer to find something that only output the dignal without adding or taking away anything. But the shortfall is how the signal was originally encoded anyway. I have yet to find a perfect interface that works with everything and outputs a clean 100% unchanged digital out.

      @@TheSFFV Once again when using a DAP’s coaxial digital output you’re not using the internal DAC f, you would be using the DAC of the DSP.

      I have the same setup currently, LG V60 usb-c --> smsl PO100 --> toslink into helix dsp.3s. With apple music lossless, youre still getting resampled by android right? Doesnt matter about the app's capabilities, androids bringing it down to 16/48. Only way ive found to get bitperfect with this set up is UAPP with bitperfect enabled, and then its mandatory to have an external volume control. Any other configuration is getting resampled by android, no hi-res. No way to use apple lossless or amazon ulra hd or tidal mqa, its all coming out 16/48
      My main issue is freaking UAPP being unstable, its never smoooth even playback, even with locally stored files. The SQ is amazing, but I will never get through 3 songs without it breaking up, stalling, or just ending playback completely. Its so frustrating. Im forced to use aux into my headunit to high level signal into the DSP for consistent workable music on demand

    I connected this device to my mac and Amazon HD, and the optical out to my amp.. Amazon music says the device is capable of 24bit/44.1kHz. Unlike the box which says it's capable of 192kHz. I can only get the blue light come on, not the red as they claim. I'm playing HD and ultraHD music.. am I missing something or is the spec wrong? If you can run it at higher than 44.1kHz and get the right light, please let me know.

    • @CarAudioHorizons
      @CarAudioHorizons  Рік тому

      Yes, it does up to 192 like I show in the video. It’s probably an Amazon HD issue as Amazon seems to have many issues that’s why I never use it even though it’s the cheapest if you have a Prime membership. Possible check your Amazon settings, also try any other streaming platform as they all have free one months. That’s the easy solution

    Has anyone used this with a Samsung S22 Ultra? I'd like to use this to run optical to my JL Audio VXi setup but I haven't found anyone who has reviewed this with an Android device (especially in a car audio application).

      In that case I'll give it a try. I'm using a factory radio that I've got to keep unless I'm willing to lose some of the vehicle's functionality (I'm not) and doesn't support any type of high-res music. If I can bypass the radio and go straight to the DSP that is a better option, and for less than $50 US (including a new OTG cable) it's a bargain.
