San Salvador was, until not very long ago, the most dangerous city on the planet. Civil war and rampant gangs made the city a no-no area for tourists for many years.
With a morning spare, I decided to go for a walk around the city centre. (The first group of people in the video I'd spoken to the previous day)

Hello Gary Linekar. What a crazy day in San Salvador. I spent two full days in San Salvador when it was the most dangerous city in the world but luckily nothing happened. I am not so sure your video didn't anything to lure me back but that's ok there's something like 10,000+ other cities which would offer an amazing experience that I haven't seen.
😂 I enjoy the crazy days, as long as there's somewhere to relax later on in the day
Amazing Video. Thanks for sharing. have a great day!❤👍

Totally agree dude the people are super friendly
Look great share ❤😊
Hello เป็นการเดินทางที่สนุกมาก Follow the next episode 💯
Always love that you're more than happy to interact with the locals, and feel comfortable doing so! Guess it helps speaking spanish, and its times like this I wish had paid more attention at school!
Thanks mate, basically everyone I met there was happy to chat to a foreigner after years of very little tourism in the country!
Nice vlog, meeting with foreigners! have a great day with them! thaks and stay safe!
Thank you 😄

Thank you so much 😁
very interesting content featuring El Salvador. the Church at the start is awesome indeed. the interaction between and among the people in the street is interesting as well. the rest is educational. great one
Thanks so much 😁
Hi Matt. Wow~~😳Surrounded by a lot of people, it feel overwhelmed and a little scared.😧However, many South American people are very cheerful people. It was the same when I went to Brazil. Of course, I didn't go to dangerous areas. The atmosphere in this area is very interesting. Thank you for great walking tour. Stay safe and have a nice trip 😍
Thank you 😁 although those people were a little 'tipsy' they were friendly 😂 and it felt very safe as armed police were not far away. Thanks for watching Juli 😁
@@no_soy_rubio Then you can rest assured, but be careful 😁😉
@@JuliTravel always 😁
Thank you for the video of a fun and happy trip.🌴🤞

Very nice tour. I hope you enjoyed your trip ❤

Your video took us on an exciting journey through the enigmatic streets of San Salvador, El Salvador. The encounters with the locals were both intriguing and heartwarming, showcasing the city's unique charm. It's amazing how you captured the essence of the place, from the lively streets to the stunning cathedral. Your fearlessness in exploring the city is commendable! 🚀 Keep sharing your captivating experiences, and I'll eagerly await more intriguing stories from your adventures! 👍🎥🌆
Thank you so much, great comment 😄
You have been to San Salvador, El Salvador. It was a scene of great contrast between the drunken people and the cathedral during the day. I feel the horrors of war. Even now there are soldiers with guns standing in the streets. A dog lying leisurely must be very hot. Thank you for posting a good video, traveler friend!
Thank you my friend, certainly was a contrast there 😁
Fascinating to see these places. So glad things have improved for the locals and violence has abated. Glad too that the group you encountered were genuinely friendly and not looking to try and scam you. We have had quite a few lively moments of a similar nature in the past and not all ending so happily. We have felt safe most places across to world. Worst wrong turn was in New York where we stumbled across a den of junkies. One place we did not linger.
Thanks Ivor! I must say I never felt intimidated in El Salvador although it might have been different five years ago. I agree, the cities in the US can be pretty scary. Even in smaller cities like Tampa, I've been in areas that I quickly escaped from.
wow, this journey is high-voltage 👍
It was quite intense looking back 😂
Look like some fun, but be careful. Sure do enjoy the local markets...the one's for locals...not tourist markets. Sure does help when you are able to speak the language...I have a hard enough time with English alone...lol Really enjoy your explorations. Take care and have a wonderful weekend. Bruce and Otis
Thank you both 😁 weirdly I'm probably more articulate speaking other languages than English 😆 have a great weekend!
Классная прогулка по городу! Веселые у вас друзья! Всего самого доброго!
😄
That was a great video! I always feel interactions make the content much more engaging than architecture for example. It's super fun when the girl starts speaking in English ahha
Totally agree, it is much easier to make this kind of content in Latin America I think
@@no_soy_rubio Yes also because they don’t care about the camera. Africa is a total other story for that even though people are also social
Nice vlog .As you said that its most dangerous place but you made it you a speak spanish too, a big help.I enjoyed it.
Thank you my friend 😁
La gente es amable compañero. Gracias por compartir 👍.
Muchas gracias 😁
Great meeting with the locals, interesting to watch. Not sure I would have the guts to visit this city, but very intresting to watch your trip there. They know english fotball fore sure😁 thanks for sharing a great video again and have a nice weekend 👍😊
Ahah well it's not really as scary as it looked in the video 😁 yes they love football, it's amazing how in so many places in the world you can talk about football and connect with people ❤️
Thanks for sharing, fully watched, like 243
Thank you 😁
El Salvador looks a little run down and poor . But it still is far more beautiful and cleaner then the slums you see in Philadelphia. And the people are very friendly. And it doesn’t look like they are on Drugs. If you really want some adventure take a tour to the rough section of Philadelphia . It is scary. Have a great day my friend.
Thanks dude, I was in LA last year in some sketchy hoods and honestly it was much scarier than El Salvador 🤣 I wouldn't have filmed there, no way. I heard there in Philly there are some places that you just wouldn't go to!
I really enjoyed the craic Matt. Worth a visit of passing through. They look like good characters. Thanks for sharing 😊
Definitely good craic even if I couldn't get a word in edgeways throughout most of it 😆
😆 I know! Must have been good soup they were drinking
The ornaments of the church are beautiful, my friend
Stay connected and grow together
Thank you
Enthusiastic friends and beautiful architecture, nice trip👍
Thank you 😁
Hola, espero un día volver a mi querido país, que nostalgia.
Espero que puedas, me dicen ahí que la gente esta mas feliz que nunca
@@no_soy_rubio si espero ya el otro año ir, Chalatengo es muy bonito para visitar
Well, that was certainly an interesting group you met! Just coconut water? Not sure about that! Lovely tour of the place and great sound bites from your time there. 😊
Thanks Donna! Well technically it is coconut water I guess, it's hard liquor that is fermented from the sap of the coconut flowers 😅 bit of a stretch of the definition 😆
What a stunning and picturesque presentation bud! B-roll shots are absolutely spectacular, place is so vivid and full of life! 👏👏
Enjoy
😁
Que rico, pupusas! Por otro lado, cuanto me alegra ver que El Salvador es ahora un pais tranquilo y digno de visitar.
Igualmente! Y me encantan las pupusas 😍
I love all your videos mate but this is by far my favourite one of the lot. Couldn’t stop smiling whilst watching it
Awww cheers mate! Was an easy video to make tbh
@@no_soy_rubio No problem mate and I’m glad it was 😊
Very nice video friend 👍👍
Thank you 😁
It certainly looks a very lively and busy place to visit Matt. Light coming through in the church looked lovely. Glad you didn’t feel intimidated at all on your trip there. Speaking the language I think always helps too. Seemed like quite a few armed police or guards about mind.
Zimbabwe has probably been the most different place that I’ve travelled to and experienced. But I loved my trip there. Stay safe on your travels 😊 I enjoyed watching 😁
Wow, Zimbabwe must have been cool! Would love to go to Victoria Falls! I think trips like that are the most memorable. Thanks so much for watching 😁
This is so scary. Did you feel a bit frightened here? 2:12 They keep on saying Matthew even though you already told them your name is Mateo. San Salvador looks like the Philippines in the 70's. Some parts of the Philippines still do. They have nice architecture. Good day!
Haha no I wasn't scared, they were harmless really and there are armed guards everywhere. My name in English is Matthew (I prefer Matt) 😁 hope I can visit Philippines, maybe next year 🤠
I visited England back in December and felt in love with the country and the people, hopefully will return soon
Ahh that's cool, mostly December is cold and dark so I'm glad you still enjoyed it 😁
@@no_soy_rubio was great best new years I ever had , also did Ireland amazing country side , France was great along with Spain but England was the best hope to copy some ideas and open a mini bar down in El Salvador
@@Saravia1985 glad to hear you had a great time and if you do open a bar let me know, I'd love to check it out 😎
@@no_soy_rubio definitely are you still in El Salvador. I’m starting a new Airbnb beach home in usulutan if you want to scape from the city and enjoy a nice sunset and some fresh coconut my home is open for you to stay
Cute video, Matt. It felt like these guys were trying to distract you and pickpocket you or something. But it also seems that Sofie really liked you . Anyhow, it seems you made it back to the hotel alive and with your camera.
There were armed police about 20 metres from me, if one of them had tried stealing from me I'm sure they would have been arrested and thrown in jail! A bit harsh maybe but certainly works as a deterrent 😆
@@no_soy_rubio Years ago, I was robbed near the central train station in Rome. The police station located there was only helpful for filing a report afterward. I had to wait in line with a few other people who had the same experience. Next week I'm in Spain. I was advised being alert when visiting the crowded parts of Barcelona.
@@RubiHammer yes in Europe they're not interested. Same happened to friends of mine in Madrid. Yes, be careful in Barcelona. Keep everything in the front pockets. Especially if you go to Las Ramblas. I lived there for a short while and you hear so many stories of people being robbed, and the police do nothing.
@@no_soy_rubio Thanks for the tips. I hope I'll survive Barcelona :) It is going to be a short stay on my way to the Pyrenees.
new sub here my new friend, big like
Thank you 😁
Wow, mate. What a wonderful experience and friendly people. I definitely need to get to Central America but I'll learn a bit of Spanish first - your skills are so impressive. Loved the architecture and the pupusa looks interesting. That meal for $3.50 is such a bargain!
Cheers Willie! Honestly you could have three meals a day and snacks and have change out of 10 Bucks 😆 definitely worth learning a bit of Spanish, but quite a few folk speak some English too.
Great to hear re the English and that it is so cost-effective! Your vlog definitely paints a different perspective of the city and puts to bed some of the myths associated with San Salvador.
😮 nice
It is a good video to enjoy the atmosphere of downtown San Salvador.😁 As in other places, it seems that market traders live hard.🤗 take care😊
Thank you! Yes, you don't see the traders selling very much, it makes you wonder how they survive sometimes
awwwww I feel like I’m right there with you when I watch your videos really great the way you capture your travels and experience the community seem to full of life ☺️ your travels are so cool you always find the best corners of the world with authentic experiences thanks for taking us along with you ☺️ and as always stay safe! 🫶🏼💜✨
Hey you, welcome back to UA-cam! Hope you and family are good 😁
@@no_soy_rubio thank you rubioooo ☺️ got lots in store 🎉
Dude, at 6:25 you went to the *exact* same Pupusa shop I ate at on my last trip... Hope you enjoyed El Salvador!
Just seen your video dude, damn I muss those pupusas!
Hi Matt! Looked like you were very popular with the locals! 😂 That was a fun encounter and photo opportunity! Glad to hear the government has cleaned up the city and made it safer for locals and tourists alike. The prices of the food seemed very reasonable too. Really fun video - thank you! ❤
The locals were good fun (if a little loco) 😆 thanks so much for watching! 😁
The church you entered was beautiful and big. . I liked the way you mingled with people you didn't know, you weren't afraid to talk to them even though they were drunk from drinking alcohol. . I enjoyed watching those birds, they were so beautiful and so many. . . The Pupusa you ate and the tamarind juice looked delicious. Thanks for sharing this very nice video my friend. Full watched 12:28
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the video 😁
You're very welcome
What was the game(?) being played as you walked through a blue building around the 10min mark?
I think it was like a variation of bingo! In England it's mostly women that play it but I guess it's more of a macho game in El Salvador 😆
Plan cero Ocio we got to clean our streets.
Así es!
To me that is life right here in your Vlog ( vibrant edgy)different loved it Matt 👍
Would i travel
Here (umm probably not ) but insure enjoyed your trip
As always a great video mate 👍
Best regards Simon 🤠
Cheers Simon! I went there so you don't have to 🤪😆
@@no_soy_rubio 😂🤣🤭
wow thats quite intense so many people, i might have felt quite intimidated but they seemed friendly :)
It was a little intense but they were friendly enough. Having just seen your footage in Delhi I can see you've been through similar 😆
San Salvador! Cool!
Those guys at the start were absolutely drunk 😂😂😂😂
