Building Peace through Employment, Education and Rehabilitation | Walaa Musheer Ahmed

Walaa is a young peacebuilder from the Kurdistan region of Iraq. She founded Better World in 2017, an NGO that supports refugees, returnees, and members of host communities affected by displacement. They create programmes to educate and employ women and provide mental health support and sustainable employment opportunities.
Between 2014 and 2015, ISIS killed over 18,000 people and displaced thousands of others in an attempted genocide. In six years, Better World has helped over 10,000 women and children deal with trauma, readmitted girls to school, and have helped over 100 women start their own businesses.
