    Noticed the pair of smaller holes right where a volume and tone pot would be. Was that the intent? Wondering because I want to make a guitar with an old Bicentennial plate, but I'd want to add a pickup.

      Hey there, David. Thank you for the good question and for showing interest in this license plate reso kit. The holes you noticed were intended for volume and tone pots. The guitar in this video was a prototype and we don't actually put those two holes in the kits we sell. However, as with all of our kits, we encourage people to make the instrument their own through personal customizations. And yes, this kit will handle a pickup with careful modifications. If you have questions about anything we carry, please feel free to reach us at support@cbgitty.com. We're always happy to help!

    Would you think there would be a tonal difference between a new fresh license/vanity plate and a decades old slightly rusted one?

      Hello Tyler, there will be slight differences between plates. Modern vanity plates are probably stamped from aluminum... some might even be plastic. Older vintage plates are probably heavier steel. I would stay away from the plastic but any metal plate should work just fine.

    Got a 1967 Newfoundland Canada plate made just for this. This can be made with a pick up right? One more question. The neck, is it treated or can I throw a coating on it? Thinking of red.

    • @bengitty1235
      @bengitty1235 Рік тому

      Yes it can be made with a pickup. The neck and box come unfinished so you can apply any finishes you want.

    Is it ready for a pickup? I see two holes at the bottom that look like volume and tone knob holes.

      Hello Ann, the kit as sold does not include a pickup or those holes you see for volume/tone controls - the one I'm playing in this video was a prototype. People have added pickups however. Some have cut into the license plate to mount a magnetic pickup, and others have glued in piezo disks.

    Be careful what state you get your plate from. In some states, the plates are considered the property of the DMV.

    *Sigh*...Saw Samantha Fish with a cigar box..playing slide...trying to find someone (on You Tube) who actually built one (4-string) with a baby humbucker (or any pickups) that I can see and hear. Right now, all I'm hearing is talk. Still, seriously considering getting one of these.

    Personally I think the box is too wide.
