We are huge advocates for fair and just carnival games. We teach everyone we can how to avoid getting scammed at a carnival, or what questions to ask to ensure the game you're paying your hard earned money for is fair and winnable. We truly hope that the employee we interacted with at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk was just undertrained and misinformed.

I would never want to go there after this video. I appreciate you two sharing all of this. You are open with your filming as well, so the employees did not seem to care about public perception either. It was funny with that girl strutting a bit in the background in the outro lol

The Ping Pong guy was sooo lovely after the really poor experience at Bushel Basket.
Did you happen to talk to management and get an official ruling on the basket toss game? I don't think that lady understands the rules herself, and she's only going to end up cheating other guests out of their prizes.
A manager did deliver our bear, but they unfortunately couldn’t provide an “official ruling”. We were unable to get ahold of anyone else on our visit.
She was running the game correctly for bushel baskets any win ends the game so if you get your ball in the basket first try that’s it game over

Just want to add here that we full believe the vast majority of carnival games are wonderful and winnable. And that if the rules of the game were different than what was explained to us, or what was posted we hope they improve that for the future. As many know, we always take the time to clarify the rules before we play to avoid any confusion.

Goblet toss: Is it me, or do the colored goblets appear to be slightly raised? That's why so many balls end up right beside the colored goblets but not inside them?

I hate when they change the rules. One time I played the duck pond at a park and got both of the 20 point ducks. The sign said that 32 points won the biggest prize, but then the person said that only one 20 per game would count, so to get the biggest one you would have to get a 20 point and a 12 point duck. The sign and employee never mentioned that two 20 point ducks won't both count. That probably won't ever happen again, and I didn't get the big prize that I should've gotten

That was crazy, all those game seemed super hard with not so great prizes. I did feel bad for the woman running two games but she needed to be a bit more clear on explaining the rules at the start. Not changing them every time you won. Maybe she got a commission or something for the more times you played and was hoping to make extra money off the two of you.
Right? We also felt bad that she was left with two highly intensive and popular games, which is why we think this stems from a management issue.
Maybe if she paid more attention and actually done her job...who knows, she might have gotten shit canned afterwards..if you can't do your job right, no matter how crowded it is..then maybe you shouldn't be a game attendant
really! she was not very friendly at all, which is the opposite of most fair/amusement workers. at least at the fairs they are super friendly cuz they want business. And you should have gotten a big bear plus fish for 10 balls!
If i was game operator of guess your baseball throw- i would give ppl within 2 miles the prize!

I am actually confused at the basket game. I assume every game you played was shown despite there being cuts between games. If that is true you played a total of 7 games. So let's say you can only win 1 small prize per game and have to trade up - that would mean you need to play a minimum of 8 games to reach the jumbo. Where did you gain the extra prize from? Conversely, if we assume you can double your win by getting both balls in the basket and the jumbo requires 8 balls in the basket total you can win the jumbo in a minimum of 4 games BUT accounting for misses you made your 8th ball in the basket on game 6. You got balls 9 and 10 on your 7th game (assuming you didn't edit a game out). You either played 1 too few games for the prize you won, or you didn't get a medium prize that you should have. Someone is up/down $5 in value (price of the game).
We showed every game, every individual play. The cuts between games were lengthy delays, up to 15 minutes in between play so we could not keep the camera on that long. The rules did not state one prize per 2 ball game. The prize levels were based off of “wins”. A win was defined as the ball in the basket.
It's over 100 with excessive heat warnings today and seeing you in that hoodie is making me sweat 🤣

A manager delivered our bear, but they were unable to speak on the game. We weren’t able to get ahold of anyone else on our visit.

Not one to complain unless absolutely necessary. That lady needed to be complained on for one she was rude and then made up her own rules and was making them up so much she could not keep her story straight nor could she give you an answer other then that's the way it is even though it was not stated anywhere.
