This is absolutely perfect aesthetic design for a fake 80s movie. Everything from the costumes of the athletes, the the design of the field. All wrapped up nicely in the perfect soundtrack.
The thing is they even used the cameras and film from the 80's blockbuster movies....you can tell with the grain and the way the light bleeds from the spotlights....you saw this in E.T. and Indiana Jones alot....

I like how at 3:37 the guy does the "Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku" input to do a spining kick, well almost he hit the button first before the backwards motion.
I think this is one of my favorite music/video combos. It's got sci-fi, pvp, groove, an homage to Rollerball (1975), a protagonist rebelling against his corporate bosses calling all the shots, this interesting merging of (almost) all other sports, and a sound that is both old and new. And wow, it's 5 years old already? Damn!
this is based on the game portrayed in "Rollerball" an 80's futuristic movie. Also the main protagonist on this video makes allusion to "Snake Plissken" the protagonist of Escape from New York and L.A during the 80's (Kurt russell at his best)
Wow it's amazing how much of an early 80s late 70s vibe I'm getting for this. Not only is it modern but the artist gets the feel just right where the atmosphere is both dated and futuristic. I think he makes that point with the snake plissken reference for sure.
2:34 Casually smoking a cigarette next to life support equipment... This gives me a strange nostalgia for an era I never got to see... And I don't even smoke wtf...
+Chris L It's pretty well known, up there with similar dystopian 70's movies like Logan's Run and Soylent Green. It's probably the best known of the "ultra violent sci-fi sports" movies including Death Race 2000, the **WAY** underrated Salute to The Jugger, Futuresport and... well Rollerball, the critically booed 2002 remake of the James Caan classic.
Late to the party, but I was thinking Snake Plissken (who Snake was actually based off of but they do look a little different). Also, Plissken is missing the correct eye cdn.hitfix.com/photos/5160557/Heroes_vs_Villains_-_Snake_Plissken.jpg
Marcel West-Bailey It's fairly similar to an old Atari/Amiga game called Speedball (the futuristic game + violence aspects) coupled with a few other bits from baseball, American football and roller derby
SCFick318 You're right. There's the baseball element with the cannon, then its hit to rollerskating lacrosse players on a racetrack (wtf?), which are then thrown to a football-type endzone.
10th Sinn rollerskating isn't a sport but it was invented in America and the idea of bowl oriented track for the olympics when we do biking was an American idea too, just food for thought :)
When a video for music is actually better than the movie that inspired it. Better quality, better pace, tells the same story but in a rush of cool images and tells it better.
One of the best but most underappreciated music videos in history! It made we watch the 70ies flick "Rollerball" for the first time and reminded me of the classic videogame "Speedball".
Me waking up in the middle of the night 8 years later: "If the word 'fear' wasn't in that coach's vocabulary how was he able to extrapolate it from the reporter's question and use it correctly in a sentence?"
I'm back after 10 years. This is still one of my favorite music videos of all time!

It is. A real movie. And it was a bad one at that. It's called Rollerball.
@@OdinofWei That is not rollerball its a rollerball type concept....its more like motorollerfootball

Rollerball is such a great movie
It also kinda looks like Running Man
Right, Roller-ball and New York 1999 by John Carpenter with Kurt Russel.

One of my biggest dreams as a justice fan is to see them score a movie like daft punk
DVNO is in Hitman agent 47

Rollerball + Snake Plissken

Basically, the coolest music video I've ever seen.
My favorite part is the strategy-centered pep talk the evil coach gives his team at 2:40
Greatest moment in sports history.
These commercials for The Phantom Pain Just keep getting better.
the amount of effort put into this music video is crazy. its phenomenal
After Snake Plissken escaped New York he joined the world league as team captian. After this underdog win he was thrown into LA.
Still come back to this track and awesome video. I want to play this sport.
Retrofuturism at his finest. I want live it, NOW!
this sould be a movie
All Justice music videos should be getting billions of views.
the sound effects give the song so much more impact. litteraly
Every day as an essential worker these days/weeks be like... this video. the 73 eyepatch guy is my spirit animal
