- Transformers Generation One introduced Wheeljack back in 1984, and he’s a very iconic and popular Autobot who has had many versions through the years. In this video, Captain Kyle will take you on a journey from the very first Wheeljack toy to the latest and greatest versions that Hasbro and Takara could produce. Plus, there are a few honorable mentions.
The character of Wheeljack was named and developed by Bob Budiansky, who worked for Marvel Comics then. Featured in both the comic and the cartoon, Wheeljack soon became a very popular character. His toys were also popular, from the G1 version through Action Masters all the way to the War for Cybertron Earthrise and the Authentics toy. In this video, Captain Kyle shows all the G1 character toy changes through the years. Please note that the Armada, Prime, Cyberverse, and other non-G1 character-based toys are not featured. Though some of those toys are really cool, too.

24:17 to answer your question (why do they keep changing the numbers) the original 84-85 autobots (wheel jack, mirage, and smokescreen) were actually based on very specific real life race cars. Those toys included the actual numbers that were on those vehicles along with very similar sponsorship logos. So in order to avoid legal issues they have to change them.
Good to know! Though it's odd that they can legally claim a number.
@@ToySpotlite the numbers on race cars are specific to each driver, putting those exact numbers on a very similar race car could possibly lead to legal issues. (It’s not worth risking it)

Wheeljack was like my 3rd favorite after tracks and hot rod/rodimus for autobots he was the 1 death in the movie I hated especially since it was off screen
