Let's clarify. Israel had no 'human' King. They had God as their King. God then was free to call whomever He chose at any given time to deal with an enemy. He could chose someone who was trusting in Him to lead the people. The people did not have to rely on some beaurocratic leader trusting in his own abilities and being supported by taxes.
The Sabbath is on Saturday not Sunday. I do not believe we should be legislating days of rest, it should be optional, this preserves the religious freedoms of others who do not or do not want to keep certain religious laws & must go ajainst their conscience to do so because the government decides to legislate a day of rest and force it on the people.
Yes, Sadly the Sabbath is passed off as Sunday, which is the first day of the week. God commanded that we keep the 7th day holy...which is from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. No command was ever given to change it and no permission was ever given to change it either.
Community service on all weekends & holidays should ease your conscience. And if that's still not enough, go to a middle-eastern (Muslim) country or a developing nation & tell your boss that you want to work round the year at the same pay. I think your debacle with your conscience should be solved. Why live in Christian nations & be brutalised by their unfair laws like freedom of speech, equality and such, when you have an entire range of communist countries that don't believe in the existence of God - how lovely! Just think about the possibilities... Or wait for another 10 or 20 years to see what happens to the so called "liberal" nations like Sweden, France, Germany, UK with all their wonderful "liberal" views. And then make up your mind because history's been made right now in Norway, as they are trying to decide which one of their cities is the rape capital of the world.
