People are most commonly targeted through twitch. About 20-30 accounts come into my stream per day asking for people to do capes for them for 20m. Keep an eye out, don't be a dumbass. Follow the two basic rules of RS. 1. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. 2. Don't do emotes near EmilyIsPro.

You can block input on the host machine with Team viewer, also +Jgomez836, that's not how that works, the client would not be open so there would be no connection to the server, besides you can't very well remote into a computer that doesn't have power.

One time when I made my first 2m or so I was lured to edgeville Wild. I had my money on me. All of a sudden a d chain appeared on the ground at level 4 or so. It was JUST out if Tele grab range. I knew what would happen so I dropped my cash stack on the ground and ran for it. Sure enough I was ice blitzed and ddsed. I quit RuneScape for a week. I came back online and I got a message from a guy saying "oh good there you are, we killed those guys who lured you and got your cash stack and items back. "
All I had on me was 2m.
He gave me 2m, a whip, 2 ancient staffs. Dragon scimtar and 1.2k death runes, 350 rune arrows, 2 rune plates, rune boots, and a glory.
Bear in mind this was 2005 RuneScape. I told the guy only the 2m was mine and he gave me it all anyway and said ,
"If you need us we will be out there"

You are not being locked out from your computer. If you allow somebody to connect to your computer, then you both can control it. And the moment you close TeamViewer's window on your computer, the other person loses the connection. So its basically that you both have control of your pc.

For reference, if anyone does fall victim to this, as soon as you lose control just power off your computer by holding down the power button/flip the kill switch on the power supply.
I actually had someone try this with me some years ago when I was trying to buy floor runs in dungeoneering. They said teamviewer had a voice chat to make things more coordinated (I only knew the basics of the program at the time) and right after he connected he locked me out tried to trade my gold to himself when I realized what was happening I hard booted my computer.
So yeah, this does actually happen and they'll think up any number of excuses to get you to let them connect via teamviewer. Just be careful.
Teamviewer has an option to disable remote control and have a "view only" mode.

if there's no power to the computer, there's no way you can control it. it's like trying to play on a server that just crashed, it didn't close correctly but it still closes all connections.
although when you shut the pc down they'll still have like 4-5 seconds of free-roam, after that the connection is terminated and they can't do anything.

Something to mention is they're able to disable your mouse/keyboard, the sure fire way of locking them out when this occurs is force booting your computer off, or unplugging it, this will automatically force close every process running and obviously they wont be able to use your teamviewer or computer anymore.
You could also just press ALT + F4 to close whichever window is open (i.e RS)
1. When someone connects to you via Teamviewer, you can click on the cursor icon in the connection screen to disable them from controlling your screen. You can also make it default so that people can't control your computer initially without explicit permssion.
2. You can antiscam by clicking the monitor button next to their connection to actually switch screens with them so you're connecting to them, and can do the same thing.
3. Don't think you'll just control alt delete because it's actually CTRL+SHIFT+TAB to open task manager.
4. There's an option on Teamviewer to make the person you're controlling's screen go black so they can't see while you control it there's also an option to disable their mouse or keyboard. They can use this to scam you even if you're skeptical, if you can't react in time.
Point is, don't use Teamviewer with someone you don't know, with your account logged in. If you do though, at least set up Teamviewer's defaults in the settings first so they can't fuck you.

as there's a button where when you click it it will show the list of people connected (and other options) there's a cursor right next to them if you click on it, it will disable allowing that person to do anything, besides watching your screen.

A possibly quicker way to end your programs if someone's hijacking your pc is by holding alt and pressing f4 over and over really fast. From my experiences using TeamViewer, when someone's remote controlling you you can also input commands at the same time. It is possible they changed this, best to verify by using a 2nd PC to remote control your own. Sometimes pressing ctrl+alt+delete twice in a row begins a pc's shutdown/reboot process. This might not be fast enough. If you're on a laptop and you consider your RS account to be more valuable than your PC or your personal health (due to risk of electrocution) you can detach the power plug if it's attached and quickly take out your battery. You could also pull the plug on your desktop (VERY dangerous). I recommend sticking with my 1st method. It's the fastest way of ending programs that I know of.
Whenever some1 has access to your computer/screen, you can still move your mouse yourself. So once he presses accept on the first trading screen, you can easily click on decline or close teamviewer.

Control alt delete doesn't stop teamviewer. You can still control a computer, even if the person on the other side control+alt+deleted.
Just turn off input from the teamviewer settings and watch as they try to press accept. (You'll see a big cursor letting you know where they tried to click)

It's really good that you're making people aware of this because i myself almost got scammed for like 60-80m a few months back with this same method but you gotta remember there's a lot of scummy people that will probably watch this and go out and do it to some random kid that might not be subbed or might not have seen this right away.
To those arguing that you'd have to be stupid to fall for this, imagine a scammer befriending you and becoming quite close to you over the course of a few weeks or months. They could then request that you go on TeamViewer for a number of reasons that you'd have no reason to object to, such as wanting compare banks, wanting to see an area that they do not have access to, wanting to watch you fight a boss or go Pking, or as demonstrated in the video, requesting help with obtaining a firecape.

Teamviewer doesn't lock you out of your computer. if you move your mouse, it takes priority over someone viewing your screen, and they will not have any control at all. Where did you hear this info that teamviewer does such a thing?
Teamviewer does this so things like this don't happen. If you don't want someone to do something on your computer via teamviewer, you have the ability to stop them at the exact moment they are trying to.

This has been around for ages. If you're on a desktop, you can also just unplug your computer if you are dumb enough to get to that point. They are controlling the cursor on your computer, so if your computer is shut down, the connection is over.

You... You're kidding right? They don't have that feature and why would they that opens them up to countless lawsuits lmao. That's probably the most far-fetched thing I've ever heard. Not to mention there is options so you can not let them have access to mouse and keyboard functions.
They can also say "show me your bank so I know you're not a noob trying to do this for me" and then greed gets you.
ANOTHER PREVENTION METHOD: When and if the other person takes control of your PC, you can just hold down the power button and manually shut down your computer which should not only end teamviewer but also end your RuneScape client which should stop it. I tried this and it worked.

Faster way of getting to task manager is actually ( Control + shift + esc ) it puts you straight into task manager. Just a fun little shortcut :P
why use a program to check stats when osbuddy does it for them... lol if you get scammed with this I have no remorse for you XD
Framed clearly said in the video the scammer most likely won't use stats as the excuse to get you on Team Viewer; it was just an example.
better excuse is so they can watch what you're doing while you're doing fight pit for them so they can make sure that's all you're doing. Still not a very good one really.

I never leave remote control enabled in teamviewer. While someone is in the middle of connecting, you can see them in the bottom right and click the blue mouse to disable remote control before they even see your screen.

With team viewer the host has full control. Yes the person connected can use your mouse and click on your screen but as soon as you move your own mouse you have priority. Plus you can simply press disconnect from sharing. The only way this would work is if you're afk while in team viewer or hovering over the second accept.
You know there is a Hot Key to immediately kick the other person off rights? I can't remember what it is but when you hit it, it instantly kicks the remote controller out.

people don't realize that if you actually do go through w/ it and get the fire cape they have your static ip address where it says " you last logged in @ x time from ip address x" they can then write that sht down. Using a different (maxed) account they could want to go "bossing" with you and make sure you risk bank then ddos you and let the boss kill you, this would take considerably more work but it works.
ctrl+alt+del no longer is an option to cancel it out, if the person who is trying to scam you is smart enough, he would disable external output as soon has he connects to your PC there is now way you can use your keyboard or mouse to stop the scam once he has done that..... the only way would be to pull out the powercord from your PC. But it's probably already to late at that point.
This tool is used for providing technical support to people remotely ( thus the remote control aspect)
If for whatever reason you find yourself in this situation .. really if you were to disconnect your network cable or turn off your PC it would immediately disconnect the teamviewer session.

You can change the settings on team viewer to disable user control.
You're able to disable their mouse control permanently, their's a button located in the bottom right when the connect with a mouse icon, click that and they wouldn't be able to do this.
If they have you install Teamviewer, have them TV into a virtual machine (or throwaway machine), then open up file transfer and either steal their info behind their back or delete all their files.
An easier way to open Task Manager is Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Opens immediately then you can close the program
With teamviewer, while people are controlling your screen, your mouse takes dominance over theirs. So if you do end up in this situation, just move your mouse as much as possible on your desktop then quickly exit teamviewer. That's probably less reliable than ctrl alt del but it's quicker.

i got scammed for like 100m back in 2011 by this method. i was just a little lad. i felt like a ghost had taken control of my computer, i was so scared. With a flick to the wrist, i slammed my laptop shut and all went back to normal. but nothing was ever normal after this terrifying experience.
To be honest, if you get scammed in any way. There's only one guy to blame for and that is you. Simple rule to not get scammed, never do anything to anyone who offers money for something. Unless you know them ofc like irl friend or something and you can really trust them.

teamviewer doesn’t give complete control. if you move your mouse it will make it so they can’t move it for about 2 seconds. rapidly moving your mouse can stop this method
Control shift escape is the keybind to automatically open task manager, you could also just ALT f4 out of RuneScape
Downloaded something rs related and it didn't work/ do anything when I opened it, so I left it and went back to rs. While training someone pm'd me in game and said "Hey, I'm quitting and I want you to have my stuff, meet me at lumby bank". So I've obviously seen what a scam is like, so I promised myself that I wouldn't go anywhere with him except stay in the bank. I showed up and we talked, then I traded him and he showed his inventory (Nice stuff), so I exited the trade and as soon as I did he took over my mouse and logged me out, I tried to move my mouse away but it was almost being forced to move, so I was still logged in for a good 5 mins and I got my friends to see where I was, I was spamming in the bank and by the time he logged out, all of my gear was gone.
You know you can disable their mouse on your screen with teamviewer. If you do their mouse clicks dont actually do anything. Just shows a cursor on where they clicked.
Quicker way to avoid this is to pull out the Ethernet cable, or switch off your computer. Accepting the 2 trade screens is way faster then opening task manager and you'll lose your shit.

Best thing is don't do this. Yes ctrl alt delete will work, or move your mouse a lot it'll take control back from them so they can't move your mouse. Then click on a side panel of teamviewer and take away their control in the first place. Should have a mouse symbol. Or do this in the first place so they have no control ever.
Well...you're not completely out of control. You can move your mouse which either cancels out their movement, or leads you to a tug-o-war type situation. EIther way, even me, a newbie, knows that this is probably one of the most shittiest and basic scams and anyone who falls for it deserves to be hacked.
another way is if you have direct access to your Ethernet connector, or your power cable on computer you can pull one or other to immediately close the connection because even if you account doesn't log off immediately after you loose connection, they can no longer control your computer because any data sent from there computer will not reach you, of course this will not work with most laptops unless your using Ethernet instead of wireless. tho if you do not have power connected to laptop you could pull battery out but by time you realize all this is going on its probably to late.

Someone tried doing this to me in a Mr_Mammal stream and I didn't think of it. It was late and I needed to go to bed so I told him I would do it quickly but I needed to go. He then told me to download the teamviewer so he didn't have to share his password with me. Luckily I said I don't wanna be downloading anything I don't know about and left safely without being scammed.

actually you can even turn of their control and move the mouse yourself so even if you use the remote control option you van still stop them
faster way to close teamviewer is CTRL+SHIFT+ESC because it opens up the task manager instantly
It's quicker to press Ctrl, shift and esc to get the task manager or to close a program hit alt and f4
when you move your mouse in teamviewer remote control u will override the other mouse movement and aslong as you keep moving they can't move so you just close teamspeak as soon as they click accept once
as long as you move your mouse you lock out the other user from teamviewer -_- he can't do anything because you get priority over him.. take it from a pc technician that uses teamviewer regularly and had to work with people who couldn't stop touching their damn mouse.. also you can put it in the settings that people who connect can't control your pc by standard (in settings)
You can also just pull your internet cord out of you PC/labtop if you have one in that will cut the connection from TeamViewer

regardless of TV functions, you can disable control at hotkey
Spam Alt + F4. It will close the open window selected, do that until Runescape is forced closed. It's more efficient.
What people dont know is when your using teamview as soon as you move your pc mouse it locks the other person out.

I got scammed 1.4b with this method last year. I had gotten into a clan chat with a couple "buddies" and one day we are going on a boss trip and one friend says he wants to show me the proper gear setups and told me to pull all my gear out of my bank and hop on teamviewer so it would be easier to show me. At the time I didn't think twice about it cause it was just like any other normal night online. At one point I went to grab a drink, when I came back to my computer I was in lumby with empty inventory and everyone had unadded me. I assume he walked me out to the wildy, skulled me, and had other friend kill me. Or traded and killed me for fun. lol.
Haven't played since.

teamviewer has a built in keybind to stop all commands from the other computer that can control you computer. you literally lock them out.
Also the power button is a good alternative. Just hold down and pray you aren't too late.
My brother fail for something like this years and years ago doing dung floors for someone. My best advice if you get yourself into a teamviewer where they have control of your mouse and computer. Your best bet is 2 unplug the computer or disconnect from the internet by pulling ethernet cord out or disabling wifi. Anything to disconnect your computer from theirs and you only have a few seconds to react You could save your items.

depends on your setup for me my wall outlet sits at chair level right next to me. Some people could turn off wifi from there keybord. But yes once they have control your mostly fucked.
I believe unplugging your router/ethernet cable works too, if you're fast enough.
