    You talk about 90 degree pivot but when you kick with power you pivot more. For example body kick in 4:07 and low kick in 6:10. Pivot is something 140 degrees or so.

    I have a stiff groin which makes going all the way around and up with kicks harder. And tips for this?

      Improving flexibility is only way.
      Add a 10min stretching session after your workouts 2-3 times a week.
      You’ll get best results after a nice sweaty session involving a lot of kicking.
      There are some great stretching vids on you tube. Focus on the groin but don’t neglect the opposing muscles / tendons to avoid imbalance.

    Nice technical breakdown of the footwork. I'm a beginner, so this is helpful. I did throwing sports in highschool and college, discus and javelin. To maximize speed and power, we would plant the heel of our pivot foot when our throwing arm was ~halfway through its range of motion. The abrupt stop to our rotation by planting our heel would cause all of our body's momentum to be translated to that throwing arm. I've always wondered if I could adapt this technique to punches and kicks. The body mechanics are very similar, but I'm sure there must be some drawbacks. I think it would increase the commitment to the strike, maybe reserve it for a big power shot when you have lower risk of being countered? Curious if anybody has thoughts on this, or if it's taught as part of a martial arts discipline.

      You mean to use the back of the foot and elevate the toes?? In karate for example the kick are flat-footed but for example in muay thai / kickboxing you kick like bazooka showed, kick with flat foot usually depend on the snap of the chamber, but in muay the kick uses more the momentum and the hips, if u mean to use the back of the foot probably is gonna be bad for your knees.
      Probably I didn't understand the question becouse I am from Spain

      @@Carloserchimo200 small language barrier. In my example/question, the goal is to stay on the ball of your foot until you want to snap the kick, about halfway through the motion. Then your heel on your pivot foot would come down and your pivot foot would have even contact with the ground, but only until you reached your target, then you would elevate your heel again. The timing would be tricky for anyone who has not done a throwing sport or trained this way. It took me about 6 years training as a kid to get it down perfectly. And yes, it's a little hard on the knees, but not too much if you pick your heel up again to allow for normal follow through. It's an odd question, so don't worry about. I'm probably not describing it well, it would be easier to demonstrate.

    High kick and spinning wheel kick hurt my knee because I don’t pivot correct
    I have one video request which is how to make an angle or move from center line when giving a kick like round house kick.
