The danger of playing against a guy who can teleport cards is that you never know where they've been. He still might some asses up his sleeves. I mean, aces up his ass.
Alternative alpha beta gamer ending gag: Sometimes I play cards against celebrities and other famous people (he takes out a gun and blows a hole in the monster) Whenever I play against Lady Gaga I bring a long stick. That way if she's tired and she starts falling asleep in the middle of a hand, I can poke 'er face. (Alpha beta gamer gets eaten by the other monster)
@@AlphaBetaGamerThings didn't go a-CARD-ing to plan for the monster. It was a terse face-off. He got kicked out of the Club. His heart wasn't in the game. Under the circumstances,it was weird you weren't shuffling in your seat.
I wonder if those things he's saying about your wife are true or lies to throw you off. If they're true then there's no way I'd be risking my face to get hers back!
Of all the jumpscares I anticipated on losing this game, I did NOT count on the mask swinging open like saloon doors. Preeeeetty happy we can't really see what comes out!
The rules are simple: I'm going to deal you two cards and then tell you that you can't play one of them. Take your time considering your vast selection of one options. My, my - it appears you've chosen poorly. You lose! I guess "Making Up The Rules As I Go" just isn't your game.
Ngl, im kinda dissapointed with how he reacts in the second ending. You didn't just like, blow him the hell up. You didn't set him alight. I was hoping he would take it in with pride and just, hand the face over.
Does anyone know what exactly happened when you managed to play a witch card at the same time he did? It did something special and he commented on it, but I didn't catch what it was.
It seems like the player character is trying to rescue her mother, who went in to rescue the father (her husband). And if the monster is telling the truth, the mother doesn't love her.
@@ChronologicalFern It's the impression I got. Monster implies that she's a child; her grandmother is still alive, it calls her 'brat' and mocks her for trying to win her affection. The monster also says that the protagonist is the only grandchild the grandmother can trust, which might match up with how the monster refers to the woman as 'ugly, deceptive, and arrogant.' Good grandparents, bad parents, good child.
Doesn't it say something about sparing her parents if she surrenders? I kinda assumed she was a teenager myself. The grandaughter and "brat" lines would still fit, plus it'd be in line with the reckless action of wagering her face to try and save an unrequited crush.
Don't they refer to the owner of the face you're trying to rescue as your "lover"? Unless I mistook the text, nobody calls their mother their lover... Well outside of the south anyway.
Edit: Ah, nevermind, silly me. I didn't realize that the protagonist was her own character, instead of being an ambiguous silent protagonist. Extremely unimportant nitpick: I kinda wish that, instead of going with generic "rescue your wife" option, the monster would first ask you to identify which of three faces is your beloved's; A male mask, a female mask, and a child's mask. Then they just use he/she/they pronouns for the rest of the game based on your choice. But this was made for a game jam, so the dev didn't have the time. And it would probably be too tricky to add now.
If he says "You cannot play two even cards back to back", it means you cannot play, say, a two on one turn and a four on the next, as they are both even numbers. Even numbers are 2, 4, 6, 8, and odd numbers are 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
Just played it. Not clear how the cards work. English descriptions are lacking. ""Capture opponent card if you lose"? How did that work? You lose you take the card? You win you take the card? "Swap last captured card with opponents"? How does that work? I won, it's cute, but needs to be clearer
"Capture opponent card if you lose" means that if the opponent plays a higher card than your capture card, *you take the opponent's card and add it to your score pile.* "Swap last captured card with opponent's" means you swap the topmost card in your score pile with the opponent's topmost card in their score pile.

Ah yes, the classic cautionary tale: wife took my face in the divorce
Boooo
That's why I always include my face in the prenup.
Never take a pretty face at face value, or face the cunsequences.

Something to do for the full release, if they decide to expand on this Game Jam entry.
