- A quick lesson on what I find to be the most useful "scales" for learning the patterns of notes all the way up and down, starting with the "hexatonic" scale containing the notes common to G and D major, and then adding the notes that make the full G and D major scales.
You are the best teacher I have found for the B/C accordion. You make it so easy to follow and understand. Thank you. Please do more.
Thanks Paul. Reviewing my entire fingering - what a help!
I agree with Brian McDonald-so clear and all chunked so I can keep up and pace is great. 😀
Very much appreciated Paul. As a whistle player in line for my first box... I'm awaiting a BC. Your video makes it all a touch less intimidating. LoL. Anything more you can share is greatly appreciated. Cheers!
As soon as I can find one of these, I’m going to learn how to play it!
Thank you Paul. I have been looking for lessons like this for a while. Please keep going.
Just bought melodeon so desperate for lessons
Fantastic. I’m a beginner on the BC box. I found your video extremely helpful in understanding the lessons in The Box. Thank you

You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
This is wonderful, thank you Paul !!!
Very helpful! Thank you! I just received my new Saltarelle Aether III B C button accordion today. It's a beautiful instrument and I'm excited to learn it. I hope you will share other videos with specific tunes for us to learn.
Super helpful. Thanks!
A Very super & Excellent. Of Learning
That was really useful. Thanks very much.
Just started today well explained system Thanks
Excellent tutorial.....!!.....personal journey is from decades of piano accordion. Just wondering about the history of the B/C button accordion : with much folk music being in the keys of D and G......
Great video, thanks for posting. I subscribed but haven't seen anymore.
Paul thank you for this, I play an AD box and have been considering picking up a BC box. This is an excellent explanation regarding note placement. A bit different of course. Really like your post !
BC is sweet because the two rows are only shifted off by a half-step, so while yeah, it's "diatonic", it does have all the sharps and flats. Not all keys are convenient to play in, of course, but it can be done. And like Paul says, keys of D and G are really convenient. Hope you like it!
Thank you Paul!
In the meantime, I found this.... It might help me understand.... Thanks
I have the little
Garvey AAA. B/C 21 Button accordion. Does the job for now.
I literally just taught myself accordion through learning songs by ear 😂
How? I can't understand😂
Same here
Thanks Paul. Would love to Lear the basics and play a few tunes
Thanks very much!
Paul, can you show us on sheet music how to identify that a song is in G major or D major, etc., so I will know what buttons to be ready for?
Ty! 🦋
Thank you so much....Do you lice in Ireland and do you give lessons thanks Michael
I’m a fiddle and whistle player. Is this a difficult instrument to pick up and learn? I know dozens and dozens of jigs and reels already.
Lovely sound. Where is your accordion tuned?
Can you please explain which one is on the Pull and which ones on the Push ? thanks
So the natural notes are all in the middle of the button board? And all the notes written off the natural scale are either above or below the button board?
What's the best b/c accordion for an absolute beginner? What make?
Just woundering whats ur apinion on btween hohner pokerworks and hohner erica
Paul I learning to play bc black dot honer accordion and find it difficult to get any basic lessons on how to play the bass. Can you help or guide me please.
Is this the same as a Melodeon? I have seen a B/C but with 22 buttons one row of 7, one of 8 then another 7
Well, it's the same as what in Britain we'd call a melodeon, but BC layout instead of DG etc. But in Ireland and among players of Irish music it would always be called a button accordion and "melodeon" is reserved specifically to refer to one row instruments. You'll only really find BC boxes referred to as melodeons on some English retailers websites.
I don’t understand it… I inherited my grandmothers 21 button melodeon, (Hohner Erica) as a kid played some tunes on it… but somehow I don’t have the notes in the same order as yours 🤔
It’s not that i’m “note-def”…. I play the guitar, drums, trumpet, piano, etcetera….
Could it be mine is tuned in a different way?
Yes, very probably. Try my video on beginners DG melodeon. It could also be GC, CF, or various other things.
Hi,Sir Im Paulas from India I want to bay this Accordion plz help me.

How can the 6 notes sound different going up the scale?
They're in different "octaves" as you go up and down. So compared to the A in the middle, the A at the top sounds sort of "the same but higher". Think of the notes as different colours but then the same notes in another octave as like different shades of that colour. If A is blue then high A is light blue.
@@paulyoungfolk aha....tysm. I'm brand new to the whole thing and trying to learn in my own.
For song notes check out martin dardis he was a life saver for me
Is the draw and push the same note on a botton?
No.
Se non specifichi quando tirare e quando spingere il mantice, secondo te uno che non ha mai suonato cosa può capire?
play a song, so that we hear if its good
This guy's accent is so thick I can hardly understand what he says.
You're joking, right? Or is something wrong with your ears maybe? I think he's perfectly easy to understand. Nothing thick about his accent at all.
I'm American and I understand every word. He has an accent, yes, but it's not like he's speaking Cockney here.
You talk too much
Putz.
What do you expect from a tutorial?
