The "ring ding ding rum bum bum" part at the beginning of the medley is from the song "Marching Off to Bedlam" by Napoleon XIV (best known for "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaaaa!")
"La La La La Nice Lady" is from "Billy The Mountain" by Frank Zappa & The Mothers.

Does it cut a lead-in groove or do you have nudge the needle in?
I have two records made on a Voice-O-Graph in 1949 in Detroit, and there are no lead-in grooves on them. You have to carefully set the needle into the groove. The groove is very shallow.
