Maximum people of bangladesh watched this program at that night.people came home early to take preparation. Roads were empty. All were busy to gather an incredible experience with Hemanta. He was so dearer to our heart.

আপনাকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ, আমার লেখা পড়ে মন্তব্য করার জন্য। আমার বাবার নানার বাড়ি ছিল কলকাতায়। পার্কসার্কাসে। ইসলামিয়া কলেজে পড়েছেন। কলকাতায় একবার হেমন্তের লাইভ অনুষ্ঠানে কোনো এক গায়ের বধূর গানটি লাইভ দেখেছিলেন। কাজেই ওনি যে কত বড় হেমন্ত ভক্ত ছিলেন বলে বুঝানোর প্রয়োজন নেই। আমার জীবনে শোনা প্রথম রেকর্ডের গান ছিল এই বলুকাবেলায়। তখন বয়স ৩। পরে বড় হতে হতে দেখেছি সব বাসাতেই হেমন্ত থাকেন। মাইকে, হোটেলে, সিনেমা হলের শো এর আগে, বিয়ে, পূজা সবখানে সারা শহরে তিনি থাকতেন। স্বাধীনতার পরে নিঝুম সন্ধ্যায়, সব কথা বলা হলো গানগুলো এত জনপ্রিয় হয়েছিল চট্টগ্রাম শহরতো বটেই গ্রামে পর্যন্ত ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল। অনেক প্যারোডিও বেরিয়েছিল। তো সেই হেমন্তের যখন বিটিভিতে অনুষ্ঠান তখন কি কেউ না শুনে, না দেখে থাকতে পারেন। সেদিন চট্টগ্রাম শহরে রাস্তাঘাট প্রায় ফাঁকা হয়ে পড়েছিল। সবাই টিভির সামনে অপেক্ষা করেছে। লোডশেডিং এর ভয়ে অনেকে ব্যাটারির ব্যব্স্থাও রেখেছিলেন। অনেকে ভিসিআরে রেকর্ড করেছে। আবু হেনা মোস্তফা কামাল বাংলাদেশের প্রথিতযশা কবি, গীতিকার। তাঁর উপস্থাপনাও অসাধারণ। একসময় শুরু হলো প্রাণ হরনিয়া সে অনুষ্ঠান। আবেগে সবাই কাঁপছি। দেবতার মত দীর্ঘ মানুষটি কী অনায়াসে গাইলেন ও নদীরে, আমার গানের স্বরলিপি লেখা রবে সহ আরো কয়েকটি গান।সংগে উপস্থাপকের সাথে কথোপকথন। চারিদিকে সুনসান। জীবনে এমন মূহুর্ত আর কখনো আসেনি। আমাদের পরিবার, সারা দেশের অসংখ্য মানুষ সেদিন এক অবর্ননীয় আবেগ আর আনন্দ নিয়ে উপভোগ করেছেন হেমন্তের সেইসব গান, যেন সৃষ্টিকর্তাও সেদিন মুগ্ধ হয়ে আমাদের পাশে বসে ছিলেন।
@@md.enamulquaderkhan7929 আপনাকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ আমার অনুরোধ রেখে হেমন্ত দা সম্পর্কে ও তাঁর জীবনের শেষ টিভি অনুষ্ঠানে নিয়ে আপনার সশ্রদ্ধ স্মৃতি চারনা। শ্রদ্ধেয় কে শ্রদ্ধা জানান টা মানুষকে মহান করে। আমি একদম ছোটবেলা থেকেই হেমন্ত দার অন্ধ ভক্ত। তাঁর বহু সঙ্গীতানুষ্ঠান সামনে বসে শুনেছি। ১৯৬৯ সালে আমি একাদশ শ্রেনীর ছাত্র। বোম্বাই নিবাসী হেমন্ত দাকে একটা চিঠি লিখেছিলাম, ফ্যান লেটার। কিছু দিন পরেই "Geetanjali Pictures" ছাপার অক্ষরে লেখা সাদা খামে ডাক মারফৎ তিনি নিজের হাতে লিখে উত্তর দিয়েছিলেন। সাথে তাঁর স্বাক্ষরিত একটি ছবি। সেই চিঠিতে তিনি লেখা পড়া শিখে ভাল মানুষ হতে আমাকে পরামর্শ দিয়েছিলেন। দীর্ঘদেহী এই মানুষটি যত বড় শিল্পী ছিলেন, তার থেকেও অনেক বড় মাপের মানুষ ছিলেন। এই একটি মানুষ বহু গুনের অধিকারী ছিলেন। দুই বাঙলার মানুষের বড় প্রিয় গায়ক ও সুরকার ছিলেন। ভগবান প্রদত্ত কন্ঠ ও সঙ্গীত প্রতিভা তাঁকে শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের শিরোপা দিয়েছিল। আজ প্রায় ৭০ বছর বয়সে পৌঁছেও গায়ক হেমন্ত ও মানুষ হেমন্তের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা, আকর্ষন ও মুগ্ধতা বিন্দুমাত্র কমেনি। এখনো তাঁর বিশালত্ব অবাক বিস্ময়ে অনুভব করি। আপনাকে অনেক ধন্যবাদ। নমস্কার নেবেন। ভাল থাকবেন।

বাংলাদেশের অ্যান্টেনা উঁচু করে এই প্রোগ্রামটি আমি দেখেছিলাম। আমি তখন ক্লাস এইটে পড়ি। তার কিছুদিন আগে আমাদের শহরের কাছাকাছি কোন একটি জায়গায় উনি এসে সংগীত পরিবেশন করেছিলেন। সেটি আমার দেখার সৌভাগ্য হয়েছিল উনাকে সাক্ষাৎ দেখতে পেয়েছিলাম।
I hope the great Hemant Kumar talks in his native Bengali. Although he speaks in Bengali I like his majestic voice. A wonderful man in Indian cinema and no one can fill his space till the end of this Universe.

how modest he is! the one of the biggest singers of bengal music like him telling himself "oggo"! in this day, it is almost impossible. rather they always try to show that they can which they actually cannot
I agree with Mr. Suprio Das. The complete story should come out how a legendary singer of all times in this subcontinent was badly treated by some uncouth people who ultimately threw bad names on their country and that caused a humiliated Hemanta to succumb to a massive heart attack.
What should I say? He is a man of very rare specimen.Owner of a god gifted voice and magnetic personality he is so simple that everyone loves him.May God keep him in peace wherever he is.
My heart breaks listening to this interview...he was a great singer and ever greater human being. I was fortunate enough to have watched his last performance on the eve of Durga Pujo circa Sep 1989. His songs - both Bengali & Hindi - always ring through my mind like a jukebox.

Never heard what you said. when he first visited with other singers and sang in Race course Maidan(Suhrawardy Udyan) over million people listened their songs. During the late 80's , mean the above interview and songs were sung, the political condition in Bangladesh was not good for anybody. I read the article of his personal doctor in anandbazar potirika . he was very happy how he was treated by the people and the president himself . president gave me some gift himself and a box of Ilish fishes and he wrote that Hemanta(from his personal doctor) ১৯৮৯ সালের সেপ্টেম্বরে ঢাকা থেকে বিপুল সংবর্ধনা ও ইলিশ মাছ নিয়ে দাদা-বউদি ফিরলেন। প্রেসিডেন্ট সদ্য-ধরা কিছু ইলিশ মাছ কাঠের বাক্সে বরফ দিয়ে প্যাক করে উপহার দিয়েছিলেন। সেই রাত্রেই দুটি ইলিশ আমাদের বাড়ি পৌঁছে গেল। দাদার শরীর বিশেষ ভাল যাচ্ছিল না। ক্লান্ত, অবসন্ন হয়ে পড়ছিলেন। তা সত্ত্বেও গায়ে অল্প জ্বর নিয়ে ২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর রবীন্দ্র সদনে অনুষ্ঠান করলেন। ২৫ সেপ্টেম্বর বিকেলে বেলাবউদির ফোন পেয়ে আমরা দুজন ছুটে গেলাম। দেখলাম, বেশ শ্বাসকষ্ট হচ্ছে। বাড়িতেই অক্সিজেন, স্যালাইন, ওষুধপত্তরের ব্যবস্থা করা হল। বিশেষ উন্নতি না হওয়াতে কন্যা রাণু ও পুত্রবধূ মৌসুমীর সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে নার্সিংহোমে ভর্তির সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হল। কার্ডিয়োলজিস্ট ডা. কান্তি বক্সির সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হল।

শুনতে শুনতে চোখে জল এসে গেল। ভাবতেই পারছিনা উনি আর নেই। ভুল লিখলাম, উনি এখনো আছেন পরেও থাকবেন।

how modest he is! the one of the biggest singers of bengal music like him telling himself "oggo"! in this day, it is almost impossible. rather they always try to show that they can which they actually cannot
I agree with Mr. Suprio Das. The complete story should come out how a legendary singer of all times in this subcontinent was badly treated by some uncouth people who ultimately threw bad names on their country and that caused a humiliated Hemanta to succumb to a massive heart attack.

My heart breaks listening to this interview...he was a great singer and ever greater human being. I was fortunate enough to have watched his last performance on the eve of Durga Pujo circa Sep 1989. His songs - both Bengali & Hindi - always ring through my mind like a jukebox.

There was a lot of stuff that happened during this Bangladesh trip - which was not in good taste. He was treated quite badly by some folks in Bangladesh.
Thats not good!!! Upsetting!!! Good and Bad people everywhere!!!! But I believe 80 - 90% music lovers of Bangladesh deeply passionate about him & his voice... including my Father & Me..... Supriyo, Thanks a lot for bringing this over and I want to learn more about it... if possible...
Never heard what you said. when he first visited with other singers and sang in Race course Maidan(Suhrawardy Udyan) over million people listened their songs. During the late 80's , mean the above interview and songs were sung, the political condition in Bangladesh was not good for anybody. I read the article of his personal doctor in anandbazar potirika . he was very happy how he was treated by the people and the president himself . president gave me some gift himself and a box of Ilish fishes and he wrote that Hemanta(from his personal doctor) ১৯৮৯ সালের সেপ্টেম্বরে ঢাকা থেকে বিপুল সংবর্ধনা ও ইলিশ মাছ নিয়ে দাদা-বউদি ফিরলেন। প্রেসিডেন্ট সদ্য-ধরা কিছু ইলিশ মাছ কাঠের বাক্সে বরফ দিয়ে প্যাক করে উপহার দিয়েছিলেন। সেই রাত্রেই দুটি ইলিশ আমাদের বাড়ি পৌঁছে গেল। দাদার শরীর বিশেষ ভাল যাচ্ছিল না। ক্লান্ত, অবসন্ন হয়ে পড়ছিলেন। তা সত্ত্বেও গায়ে অল্প জ্বর নিয়ে ২৩ সেপ্টেম্বর রবীন্দ্র সদনে অনুষ্ঠান করলেন। ২৫ সেপ্টেম্বর বিকেলে বেলাবউদির ফোন পেয়ে আমরা দুজন ছুটে গেলাম। দেখলাম, বেশ শ্বাসকষ্ট হচ্ছে। বাড়িতেই অক্সিজেন, স্যালাইন, ওষুধপত্তরের ব্যবস্থা করা হল। বিশেষ উন্নতি না হওয়াতে কন্যা রাণু ও পুত্রবধূ মৌসুমীর সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে নার্সিংহোমে ভর্তির সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হল। কার্ডিয়োলজিস্ট ডা. কান্তি বক্সির সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ করা হল।

Anyway, he hosted the family of this eminent person at Sundarban Hotel which was sub-standard (True that elevator was not working). Later from next day they were shifted to Sheraton Hotel thank to some other BD people courtesy.
